Prepping and Planting Our “Vegetable” Garden

Today is the first 'frost free' day here in Wisconsin (May 15th, 2024), and Its time to plant the 'vegetable' garden. This year, the garden will be mostly flowers, but in the future, there will be more actual veggies. Our plan for the garden is to have 100% galvanized planters with recycled brick walkways in random patters in-between. But this year it's all about the flowers! The majority of the area will be sunflowers from a sunflower mix, and the new galvanized planter will hold hold six varieties of flowers as well. As far as veggies go, we have snap peas, sweet peppers, and tomatoes. 😋
Next rear, we will be putting in a large galvanized water trough planter and a few culvert pipe planters, so this area will get real exciting soon!

I have a lot of flowers, but sunflowers are always my favorite! They remind me of the countryside! ♥♥🌻🌻♥♥ The planter with the zinnias and others is going to look very beautiful as well!

Thanks Lynn! The garden has been fallow since I tilled it years ago, and we really needed to grow something in there! Should look nice, but it will get outrageous! 🌻🌻😊

Thanks Robert! Yes, I think they are going to be all over the place, and I'm hoping my wife cuts those for her flower arrangements, but I'll do the rest. I'll just hedge the place 😊

Looks great, like how you planned it out, bunnies got some of my sunflowers. Looks like you need a new water sprayer, seen water flying out everywhere, lol

Thanks Jodi! We have been thinking about containerizing the garden for some time, and it's nice to get started! The sprayers are a constant problem around here with our hard water. I soak them in CLR Clear when they get like that, and have probably done that already since the video was filmed. I have an entire bucket full of spray heads, but most of them just plain suck 😑
