If you are young and don't understand, a person living many years beyond family and friends tend to dull a fellow. This person regained the sense of wonder and mystery that give life a spark.
I've watched this many many times and my favorite part is always at the end when the old man smiles, cause at that point he realizes that we are not alone and never have been...
What about when we die?
🤣
He smiled?
How could you tell?
Oh, a tiny muscle on his face slightly twitched a teensy tiny, barely perceptible bit ?
Absolutely perfect in every way. You can tell he is bemoaning the fact that there isn’t any more adventures to be had,or challenges to be met. Then one last hurrah. A mirror of my own life in many ways. I thank you.
You just made me cry dude :( I love your comment!
A fellow days ago told me he has watched a disk jumping straight up like this, at about 30 meters from him, large about the same, but compact and bright, thick about 2 meters, and before jumping it slowly went down about 10 meters, all neatly, no sparks or sounds. It had been steady in middle air few meters over his position, along some minutes.
He was in a walking in mountain and stopped astonished. Then he was shocked by the sublime impression.
Top notch short. The old man now has one more "sea story" to tell. However, this one he'll keep to himself. The smile at the end tells all. He knows he can't tell anyone what he saw, but he's fine with that. Interesting side note was the row boat tangled up and stuck to the top of the craft by the anchor line. Perhaps it was his boat that was "lost" years ago but now on it's way to another planet.
That is how you do a short. All the information was there and it was left to the viewer to extract the wealth of nuanced meaning. First rate 👏
The boat hanging off of the side was a nice touch.
This one never gets old. I like the idea that the ship had been in the ocean a long time.
He's been on earth a long time too. There are still more things for him to discover. Why complacently sit around, if you're not bed ridden?
@@bonniejeandominguez656 Why not?
I like the think he smiles because he has seen so much. But this takes the cake!
I watched this one many times. It's just such a perfect story. The smile at the end makes me think he knows he's hallucinating again and needs to go back on his meds.
As a man once in the Navy , I bet he saw it once long ago. After all these years doubting if he'd actually seen something, he knows now. Maybe who knows.
Ok....some of these films need to be marked NSFW.
Because my reaction to this amazing film had me covering my mouth at certain scenes, so I would not wake anyone up. I mean so much intense suspense, mystery, and awe was presented. Left me on the edge of my seat. I really loved the ending. His reaction was perfect.
I like how the ship nods to the old man at the 4 minute and 30 sec. mark before it takes off.
Cinematography, story, acting, mining spacecraft, production… all flawless!
Some experiences are special, especially when nobody knows about it.
Yup, that little smile. 'Cause, what else are you going to do with a moment like that?!!!
He most likely saw it fall as a young child and after living his entire life, came back to his home by the crash site, hoping to see it rise one day
Now there's something you don't see every day.
I loved the wry little smile at the end.
I appreciate that the ship wasn’t “shiny and new”.
Magnificent short film. Flying with imagination is always wonderful. 🌊🛸🌊
Brilliant, concise and thought provoking. How many people in solitary moments have seen things others could not possibly comprehend with mere explanation, so they say nothing
I wager almost no one has “seen things others couldn’t possibly comprehend” Unless it’s a rare genius understanding something most people cannot. There are no ghosts. There is no supernatural. No one was abducted and I don’t personally buy the ufo nonsense except as a thing wr haven’t identified- not aliens come to earth. Imagined things and want to feel special - yes.
I’m 61..and have SEEN A BIG “0”, that’s either surprising or even “strange”. I don’t there ARE ‘things” we CANNOT account for..AS NORMAL.
@@davewarrender2056 Like what, if you don't mind?
@@davewarrender2056 Thank you for your honesty.
Happens on a everyday basis. Few have seen while the rest scoff at what they do not believe.
That’s exactly how fast the ufo I saw in 1973 moved from hovering beside my moving car to out of sight above me.
From which country u are ??

One of my favourite short films. Deep and touching, full of suspense in a very minimalistic calm way. And with a very subtle touch of humour...
Beautiful, in every way.
This movie has increased meaning to my family, As my late grandad was aboard the Ganges,
We're wondering if anyone involed in the making of this has some connection to it since it was chosen.
If so id love someone involved to see this and let me know.
Yesm, Indeed my Dad, the old man in the film, served on the Ganges - all these photos were taken from our family albums.
@@DABLEA would you be able to ask him if a Arthur jinks rings a bell :)
He seemed to expect something when he first walked out. It's like he was thinking "well, a ship might emerge today". And then he had an attitude suggesting "hmm, this is NOT how that was supposed to happen. This won't end well."
I love this every time I see it more and more. It's absolutely lovely.
The best part for me is at the end the man looks at the cat ...the cat thinks " so what else is new?"
Beautifully done!!❤
Ein sehr weiser und guter Film, der eine Person innehalten lässt, danke für das Video!
I would run from there as fast as I could 😄
The old man had been going to that location for many years, years before the golden retriever was there. Beings would take the man - now old, below the water to conduct procedures on him which left no marks on him for their research. It was his understanding that in turn they would rid him of advanced cancers throughout his body to cooperate and all was mutual and beneficial like teamwork. That day, they were apparently through with their work and left without reason. He realized he now was free to long live with his wife and it was a new dawn.
More, please!
Absolutely astonishingly brilliant!
Did he smile because he realized we are not alone or my boats in space?
I feel like DUST films are telling us a true story.
Good Job it's the first time i seen this Short. I so wish it was longer. But very well done anyway. Thanks 🐦❤
5:44 He looks just like my Bunty, I miss you So much my boy.
Cuando uno cree que a los viejos ya no nos puede ocurrir nada más. Muy bella película.
Awesome video 👍
Just brilliant in every way....
A story without a plot?...nay; the plot was in the smile, a great piece of film making....with a mercifully short script...very well done.
You just about tell when the mermaids fired up the engines. LOL :)
Wow, one of the best independent short sc-ifi I ever saw on youtube! Congrats!
I hope the superb writing, directing and CGI will get noticed!
This is absolutely brilliant. Would love to see a full movie. I loved the tranquility in a story which is beyond disturbing 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Me too!
Holy crap.
One of the best depictions of a spaceship I've ever seen! Fantastic job visually, and auditorily!
Cinematography was great, kinda simple plot. More to come I hope.✌️🖖
At first I thought What!?....
But then I started thinking.
Perfect of what a short should be.
👏 Bravo!
Can't wait for the sequel
(No, I'm kidding)
Great little short movie. That had all the elements 🤌
Love this, so very well done.
There are some mistakes here. A flying saucer with this kind of soaring ability will not rot because it is soaked in sea water for a long time, and it does not need to break free from the water surface and will fly directly from the bottom of the water. Of course, I also know what the author wants to express in this way. The silent old man has a story.
You seem to be well versed in the ways of alien spacecraft. You been reading the tech manuals again? 😁👍
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! WELL DONE, GUYS! 👏👍
At last some great dust uploads not the usual dark regurgitation of whats been done before
amen !!
Saw a boat & anchor stuck to it ..an interstellar scrapping machine .
likely HIS boat......dadgum aliens
Very nicely done. No narration - none needed and certainly not wanted. Well acted. Loved the black cat.
That was great! Beginning was so slow I was about to give up, but instead a full short short story spawn in my mind.
Very well done in every aspect, filming, sounds, acting, atmosphere, and many more.
Love seeing this again. Thx
Wundervoll... eine gute Arbeit... Danke..
Besides that being VERY DEEP WATER THERE DIRECTLY ON THE COAST..somebody has one heck of a VIVID imagination!
Brilliant
The good: I liked the sound it made as it launched into the sky. That clip was worth watching many times over. Brilliant! I puzzled over the boat strapped to it.
The not so good: were we not meant to notice the whistling kettle didn't have a whistle? Bit of a contrast there.
Amazing
I know just what he's feeling...
I really love a good film like that one
5:26 "Well, that just happened."
Very, Very...Cooool! 😎
Yes! My man this one to take to the grave. You and the universe shared a secret, it was a glimpse back stage for a special guest 😃
Beautifull 😃❤
Loved it. Simple,short, efficient.
based on the sounds the ship was making was it built by whales from junk found in the ocean and they have just left the planet for somewhere better.
I like that.
So long and thanks for all the fish.
There would be no point in him telling anybody. They'd only think he was showing his age.
When the first thruster extends out an kinda starts shakin, I honestly thought it was gunna be a slightly comical short, where the ship would fall back in the water like it’s not repaired enough yet 😂 an the old man sets out at that set time each day/week or whatever to see if the aliens can finally make the hyper jump today or not! 😂 regardless I loved this short! Awesome!
One word SUPERB
Love it!
One interesting detail I noticed was no pictures of adult children. The oldest kid in a picture appears to be about 10 ish just before the alarm goes off. Although, we might have stopped moving through his history because he stopped dreaming when the alarm went off?
This was amazing, but it made me feel a bit sad.
More I want more
The man looks like an older version of Eric Clapton.
they took his little boat...
Mantap 👍👍👍
Nice interpretation Emafex . . . considering the title: "Throwback Thursday." I've learned that DUST spares no subtleties when dropping clues that might have meaning to the work itself. So, what about the old man reading Shakespeare's Richard III ? Is there a connection?
Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this sun of York;
And all the clouds that lour'd upon our house
In the deep bosom of the ocean buried.
Now are our brows bound with victorious wreaths;
Our bruised arms hung up for monuments;
Our stern alarums changed to merry meetings,
Our dreadful marches to delightful measures.
Richard III, Act 1, Scene 1.
(It's the opening lines of the play.)
i'm thinking i've seen this then read the description, it is a great short.
Flawless!
🐼 Big Panda Bear Hugs from a 69 yr old grandma in Texas, USA. 🐼 ❤ 🎀 👍 🧚♂ 🐈 🧚
I truly hope most of the creators on DUST watched this short and then asked themselves "how can a film with no words still have viewers understand and have a vested interest in the character". The overwhelming majority of creators on this channel insist on writing confusing stories with zero investment by the viewer, while the only people who positively comment on them are film student/children afraid of giving honest feedback.
I wanted more! SO much promise.
THAT broke up the monotony for his week!
heeheeeee
Intriguing 🤔
Excellent!
He didnt tell his wife. its his marvelous little secret. No point in sharing, no one would believe it. So best to just enjoy the memory privately
Der absolute Hammer....
Sehr tolles Erlebnis...
Vorallem mit der Brille...
Top top top
That was blank !
"I've seen things."
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful
Great effects, but no explanations or hint, was what that space ship ?
Awesome, mindblowing. 🙂
Loved this!!
