Melissa check with your local Animal shelters and wild life Rehabilitatiors and give them the blankets and old towels. You would be surprised at all the things they could use. ...I love love love your videos!
Also most cities have recycling/repurpose places that will take fabric/clothes in any condition because they just chop it up and turn it into rags for trades people. It's usually what happens to unsold thrift stuff actually.
But ya usually animal shelters are in need of linens (towels, flat sheets and blankets are the main things) but any clothes that cant be salvaged can also be donated to be turned into rags.

I am retired now but worked for Public Health. We has a top researcher from the U of Minnesota talk to our staff about bed bugs. You can Goggle them and find a lot of info. With what you do, you should definitely read about them. You can wash quilts etc. but that doesn’t kill them. It’s the heat in the dryer that does. If I came across in, the item or items would directly into the garbage. When I get home, I’d take my clothes off in my garage and toss them or put them directly in the washer. Then I’d head for the shower. Them eggs are very sticky and they stick to your clothes and you can’t even see them. It can cost thousands to get them out of your house. We had staff who had to throw away sofas, mattresses, etc. Be careful kiddo. Even when it comes in the mail. You shouldn’t wear black or sit on the floor. Please read about them. Once you have them it’s to late. Very very difficult to get rid of. Exterminator try but they really can’t get rid of them either. The chemical used to get rid of them was outlawed years ago.
Melissa any type on material or cloth items will have bedbugs in it if they are present...it is not only a bedding problem but a whole house problem.,they will live behind your door framing and baseboards ..when the exterminate for them the tent the whole house and bring it to an unbelievable high heat to kill the bugs off.....also any box you buy off Poshmark could carry them
I was just getting ready to say the same thing it doesn't matter if it's close or blankets or anything else they're going to be in whatever it is so it makes no sense not to take those blankets home and wash them they look nice
Yes you are so right. When I was 19 I rented my first place and it had bedbugs when I moved in. I had no idea about bedbugs at first. I had bites covering my whole body but had no idea what was doing it. I ended up finding one and figuring out what it was. We ended up moving asap and getting rid of almost everything we owned. I was devastated and also traumatized by that. Now when I buy anything I'm super careful about it. I would never want to deal with that again.

I think alot of us had the same idea. Buying these storage units you just never know. As she was saying that she doesn't mess with bedding those angel wings can harbor bedbugs just as easily with anything in that unit. I never had bedbugs thank heavens but from I understand they are hard to get rid of. Not sure how anyone gets rid of them. Just remember bedbugs do not care where they live. They can be in all those clothes
Yes bedbugs can even be in furniture you buy so it's a gamble with anything used

Former hotel housekeeper here. Bedbugs could just as easily be under the flap of the cardboard box or in a sneaker.Cannot be careful enough.

AHHH, Melissa....If you are worried about bed bugs...stop flinging the blankets and clothes all over you!!! You are giving me the hebie jibies!! LOL
One thing you could do is take all the stuff to a laundromat and wash it before you even think about taking it into your house. There are chemicals you can get and use that will help. Plus, the laundromat will have bigger sized washers if you do ever want to wash any of the bedding. Yes, you will be spending some money, but better to be safe. ☺️

Wash the smaller blankets and donate them to a local dog shelter. My local shelter loves them and old towels.

I totally understand your fear of bringing bedbugs home, so keep in mind that the clothing is just as likely to harbor them as the blankets.

I don't understand how people can just trash photos.
Not just the comforter can have bedbugs, the clothes to! Just wash affected bedding and clothing on a hot wash (60C) and tumble dry on a hot setting for at least 30 minutes.
put affected clothing and bedding in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for 3 or 4 days.
My advice is- just run!!

Depending on how bad things are “pilled” sometimes you might find a treasure under all that pilling…my sister was a de-piller and end up with some beautiful sweaters🤷🏼♀️

It almost sounds like maybe whoever rented the unit was robbing houses…?? And needed a place to store things? Idk but weird about the photos and different names on the paperwork and then he didn’t use his real name/ID to rent it in the first place. You have to keep us posted…if you happen to be updated.

These are fun!! They say start small and work your way up. You did great for a $10.00 unit! I was thinking also it might be time to rent a small storage unit. Not tiny but maybe along the size of what you just cleaned out. Might help you keep your sanity also without the stuff in your house. I hate to see you pass up good stuff due to the lack of space. Shop around and find what is best for you for size and the wallet! Have to still make money!! Love your adventures!!

My first thought when you started unloading the second box was that the second box looked like it belonged to a different person from the first box. Now it makes sense. That was a lotta, lotta work. I hope you relax and treat yourself after your big projects.
Take the blankets to the laundromat, and wash them in hot water in the big washer. Dry them and see what you think. Or donate them to a charity shop.

Melissa I am a former Property manager (apartments) unfortunately I have had some run in with bed bugs with my poor tenants. I hate to tell you that those horrible bugs get into every thing. They may start out in a bed or clothing ( They are wonderful hitch hikers) but also in furniture, including wood, appliances nothing is safe from those evil booger’s! They like to live around their food source and hide in what ever is near like clothing , mattress, bedding , paper items. They can live for a long time without food, warmth. They are hard to get rid of too. Ewww I feel itchy just talking about it. Sorry to tell you if those blankets had a bed bug so would everything else in storage with them and possibly the neighbors lockers too. love your vids❤
Bed bugs can live up to 2 years without feeding and just laying hibernation form, and they can also live in things like picture frames.
I would always bring plastic bags with me garbage bags and take things that you want to keep straight to the laundromat before ever bringing it into your home.

Regards to bed bugs, I just had a funny thought as to why would God create a useless tiny little bug that harms everything you mentioned above. And the harm it causes people. If you can find the right market, clothing designers that upcycle fabric seek out the tapestry style throw blankets, vintage/retro sheets and sleeping bags, and children's bedding to turn into clothing!
Don't use the fix a flat. Any tire shop will tell u it erodes your rubber inside and ruins your rims.
Just to let you know if the comforter has bedbugs (highly unlikely) that would mean everything else does too.. they can attach themselves to money, books, clothing, pillows and more.. I used to help ppl rid themselves of them and I used to buy these 100 dollar cans of spray to help ppl get rid of them (it works) I don't and can't do that anymore but just to let you and everyone else know.. just check the 'crevices" of items to see if you don't see them then they are probably okay.. (take the nice comforters directly to the wash if worth it)
Good haul! You could have taken some of the photos out of the frames if any of them were nice. Next time. Glad the unit had some money makers. 😊 Also bring a flashlight with you. It cracked me up every time the lights went out. 😅
Invest in some heavy thick leather gloves. I always think there might be an open dirty syringe in one of the boxes and you reach in to pull something out and get stuck. Loved the video though.....just paranoid.

The hat that had the Fs on it I believe it Fendy (could be spelling it wrong) it’s a big brand like Gucci I believe
the gucci shoes look correct did you check the stitching and tags also the lace holes, look for mistakes or typos, a lot of the times on the tag you will see misspelt words, with the lace holes actual gucci's will have perfectly spaced holes that perfectly line up, with the stitching you are looking for odd looking spacing. If any of this is present it is fake
I don't know maybe the guy died I think you're doing good by putting all the pictures and everything together so the family can get it if nothing else sweetheart just cuz the cops are involved doesn't mean that he's been doing drugs or anything else it could mean he passed away and didn't pay for it anymore you never know nowadays! What you're doing is good by separating all the paperwork like they said and putting all the pictures together that you're doing on your own and I think that is an amazing thing to do sweetheart you just give him everything then they can do with it what they want God bless you my sweet girl you can tell knowing your mom and dad and you that they raised you right!
