Early success has always been my favorite Fitzgerald piece, Just the concept of meeting his younger self is romantic yet heartbreaking… We can’t forget the fact that this man never let go of the past while witnessing his life shatters into pieces. Historians say that Fitz's tragedy stems from the fact that he became famous as a young man, therefore, was overwhelmed by the success and began to waste his talents. But his works prove to us that his rarest quality, in fact, is the ability to detach himself from the frenzy and look at the present from a rational and objective perspective. He never showed any mercy in scolding himself, and after thirty years he wrote all these confessions as if he had to serve for his sins... He’s like a drowning man, water flooded his mouth and nose, and no call for help was ever made… He may be unlucky, be foolish, but he knew his ego well, he suffered, struggled, strived to live in the messed-up world, and was tired eventually. “When the fulfilled future and the wistful past were mingled in a single gorgeous moment-when life was a dream.” listening to these lines being read out loud truly made my day…. reminds me of so so many. I pay my gratitude, thank you and your videos definitely deserve more views.
