She's not saying that feminism or female struggles are unimportant. It's a critique on feminism that is white centered and only serves white women (hence white women skiing).
And that is why half of the audience's takeaway is : intersectionality is important (feminism needs to serve all people without ignoring all the other ways they're being opressed. Because unless you're white you're never just a woman, you're a black woman or a muslim woman etc and you struggle as such and carry the burden of that combination)

@@christopherayettey4390 intellectual comedy. Comedy that divides and causes thought rather than mindless laughter. Instead, we are confronted with WHY we laugh at some thing and why we don't laugh at others... A perfect example of that is Hannah Gadsby at her woman's morning speech. The audience laughed when she shaded men but the moment she shifted to the same shade but the words "white people" deathly silence in the room... Exact same joke different target same truth/fact behind it but the sea of white people in the room didn't want to laugh at it

That's why I don't like the kind of jokes you are referring to because they are only funny if you politically agree with the comedian. Otherwise you're just sitting there like "everything she said is wrong but we're supposed to laugh at this?"
Kind of like the joke the lady made in this video about climbing the black and muslim mountain. If you think the world just wants to lynch minorities and see them die you can agree with her but the rest of the people are thinking "stop complaining about everything no one is out to get you"

Except when women do as they see fit, they tend to naturally conform to female gender roles, so authoritarian feminism must step in to tell them how to behave in order to be truly liberated women.

You may be correct that they were in fact culturally limited to want to do something less than they may have in a non patriatchal society. But then again there is always going to be some type.of limitation in any culture.
@@TheeJordanRossi ... I'm not sure if you mean that genuinely or as a mockery of feminism, based on your wording. But if the former, I want to respectfully point out the flaw in your logic. Having any type of "authoritarian" figure or movement step in and tell people how to behave and be is not okay. You are still being repressive by not allowing for true expression and representation. I think it's good to have diversity in the feminist movement, cuz we women have a variety of issues and it shouldn't be the case where we'd all have to be uniform in how we address those issues. Cultural background and religious factors is still important when accounting for female liberation, esp because diff regions have diff ideals. Just bc one person does not think it is necessary to respect or adhere to certain values, does not mean it should be the same for every other person, and vice versa.

Only upper middle class and above have the time and money to go skiing. Poor, black or Muslims aren't going to be a big part of that demographic.
@@leodwinak by the way, since the great majority of Muslims live in hot areas, they don't have snow and hence they had no opportunity to get introduced to skiing! I don't know how is it like with westerns but I am sure It's not about the social/financial status regarding Muslims (and also Africans).

You'll often notice that some of the things that feminism advocates clashes with peoples religions, cultures,races,beliefs and in general common sense sometimes 😅If feminism really was for all..you'd see more Muslims, Christians, Africans, Asians and so on. For example when Amber Heard came out about the "abuse" from Johnny depp..feminist movement came out supported without question (only to find out later she lied) but are the movement is silent when there are women who really need help
