We interview the queen of funk, Dawn Silva to talk about her work with Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament Funkadelic, Brides of Funkenstein, and much more.
What an amazing interview. Dawn’s journey in the music industry doesn’t stop. She can probably do a new book that tells her story through the 2000’s. Her journey started so long ago, it’s easy to miss a few details so no way should she be held accountable. Happy she’s getting her 💐 and accolades today. The Funk Queen’s book leaves no stones unturned and that’s what I enjoyed about it. Heartfelt, inspiring and heartwarming. Love you my Sista. ❤
The clip of George coming out the Mothership naked is from 1981, not 76. They used the spaceship from 76-78 then brought it back in 81. That’s when Sly reconnected with George and was on some of the shows. Dawn had left by then so she wasn’t on that tour
You’re correct. I was on that tour when George came out and showed his candy stick 😂. Dawn Silva is an amazing talent. Her book is everything. So we miss a few details, it’s been decades being on stage with those guys.
