Roanoke was a terrific season! It was unique, psychological, disturbing, dark, and one of the scariest AHS seasons in my opinion - particularly the second half of it when it becomes found-footage style. I had to watch it with the lights on!
There's actually some really interesting stories from the nearby Native tribe about the Roanoke colony. It was said that there were fair skinned Natives with blue eyes living among Natives who had dark hair and a darker complexion. There is a theory that the Roanoke colony joined forces with the nearby Natives and they mingled and lived together because the colony was running low on supplies and wouldn't have made it through the winter.
Honey Kathy Bates carries every movie and show she’s in she’s such an amazing actress and if it wasn’t for her ahs wouldn’t be nearly as iconic and amazing as it is

@@jett2333 I respect you opinion, I like it so much because of the plot and honestly Kathy Bates was amazing in this season, I can see why some people don't like it though. I also like it because I actually live near Roanoke, so it was nice to see this version of its history
The Butcher was actually terrifying and I'm not talking about Kathy Bate's Butcher - but the "real life" Butcher towards the end of the season. She was fucking terrifying. I genuinely love the "real life" versions of the Roanoke ghosts and witch (especially the Chen family, jeeez those doll faces were haunting). I didn't think i would like 1984 (bc Emma Roberts 😑) but the 80s clothes were so fun and hearing the music i grew up listening to was cool. And Jingles finally got peace with his family which was a good ending.
My Favorite Season. The acting was top tier, especially the differences between the "real people" and the "actors". The best way to explain it is the Sarah Palin movie. in it they recreate the rally moment where Mccain says Obama isn't an "Arab" to a lady, just a man with different views. In the movie, the lady is emotional and has fear in her delivery, BUT watching the actual clip the lady is very monotone and "factual"
I did not enjoy it watching week to week. Once I was able to watch it a couple of episodes at a time, I enjoyed it. There was something about the pacing with a weekly broadcast that killed my interest at first. I wonder if this was one of the seasons they had a long break mid-season.
"If thou wishes NOT to follow me in this life, THOU WILT FOLLOW ME IN THE NEXT!!" When Tjomasin gave that speech after killing the ENTIRE colony, I got chills!!
I was so stoked for this season because I love the roanoke myth, but the whole documentary take on it utterly killed it for me. especially when you find out even the 'flashback' was just acting. i took a break from ahs after that and only watched bits of apocalypse to understand the bigger story. My favorite is Hotel. Gaga and Evans KILLED it and his portrayal of March still has me questioning, 'is this dude really the same age as me?'

@@shushnow3149 i’ve studied it for years. i’m not saying your wrong but you cannot tell me to do my research when i’ve spent half my life doing so. again, there are multiple factors and things that could have lead to the disappearance. if that actually happened it would be in every single history book and every single text book. if that actually happened there wouldn’t be theories. if that actually happened it would be straight facts. if that actually happened everyone would know who, what, when, where and why- but we don’t. plz don’t go telling people to do their research, especially someone who has close native relatives.
Been watching these after each season they are great docs !! .. I really liked Roanoke it was different but really entertaining and interesting how they played it out with the reality angle
The Chens are a true crime I think too,in 2015 the Chen family was found dead in they apartment,exept the children were boys,not girls,but there's a big chance that they are connected

A while back in Pembroke, NC, a group of Natives known as the Lumbee claimed to be those descendants from Roanoke.
