    So glad you got out!!! Just FYI, I'm a woman in a minivan traveling solo. I carry bunker boards, a 30 ft kinetic rope, a real shovel, 10 days of rescue rations (just peanut butter, high cal bars, and dried meat), extra water, and a rescue beacon. People have died from taking the wrong road in the mountains and in the desert so I'm not taking any chances. You might want to consider some rescue equipment, just in case. Hugs!

    • @JerseyGirl50
      @JerseyGirl50 9 месяцев назад +39

      Yes, definitely need some basic rescue stuff. I’m a single woman & I carry snow chains, a collapsible shovel, a Snow Joe snow brush all break down & take up very little space. I want to get some tire traction mats that roll up & fit in a small carrying case and also take up very little space but can save your life especially when there is no cell service. Glad that plow showed up & you were able to get out. Smart thinking using your skate board as a shovel!

    Just for future reference - when a plow is working and has plowed some of the spaces in the lot clear, you clean your car and move it to a cleared space so your former space can be plowed too - because the plow will be in demand and might no get back to plow your old space which might become a frozen mess for weeks! That’s how the North rolls. Glad you got out! Love your videos! For survival: gloves, zip coat! Have a shovel!!!!

    Please get a snow shovel, a small camp shovel, chains, a telescoping snow brush (for top of the van), snow gloves, extra kitty litter for traction, and some ice melt. You can even keep some boards for traction. I like to keep the spray ice melt in my car in case my door or door lock (in my older car) get iced over. Also, get some of those hand warmers you can put in your pocket, and a truly water resistant coat. Snow is nothing to play with! Hypothermia is nothing to play with. If you see a plow, follow it out. I'm sure this will be a learning experience for you, lol. Good luck on your travels and thanks for bringing us along!

    Hey Mateo! I’ve been driving truck for almost six years and I’ve never come across a truck stop with showers that fancy! 😅 Yo, is there a reason why you don’t have a full-size snow brush/scraper in your van? You may wanna prioritize grabbing one on your next shopping trip, especially if you’re planning on spending more time in winter weather. Also, keep a small shovel and maybe even a bag or container of rock salt or something for dissolving snow and ice, and always keep up with the weather. We all want you to stay safe. ❤😊 P.S. @@winterisbluI couldn’t agree with Kimberly more!!!!❣️ I was watching another video and another guy I follow stopped by a truck stop and that reminded me that I didn’t leave my comment after I watched your video so I just left one (including this one I’m leaving as well).. That was an amazing shower experience!!!!❣️ I’ll honestly say that all truck stops aren’t as nice as that one even though I’ve experienced some nice ones.. And please be careful Mateo especially when bad weather is coming!!!!❣️We don’t want anything to happen to you and Lars while y’all are out there trying to experience the beautiful places y’all are sharing with us ❤️ I won’t repeat everything I said in my other comment (hopefully you’ll have a chance to read it if you have an extra moment) but please be sure to stay on top of different weather conditions to the best of your ability!!!! I think you mentioned liking the cold weather but we don’t want y’all to freeze especially knowing that your heat isn’t working right now.. We’re definitely here for you and Lars and would love for y’all to keep the content flowing no matter if it’s spending a night or two in a hotel due to the weather or etc.. Happy traveling to you and Lars and again, please be careful!!!!❣️❤️

    Bravo - remember, in that crisis it was YOU who got you out, no one else. You are a great problem solver, and take very good care of yourself and lars.
    Incidentally, don't you carry a shovel for snowy conditions? I imagine that skateboard made the job twice as long. Also tyre chains could be a good idea?

    What. Are you doing in the snow? Go to Florida? Georgia? Somewhere warm? Is there a love interest that keeps you there? Suffer no more, friend! I'm stuck in the snow and cold because I'm anchored to a job. You, my friend, were smart and sharp enough to create a job that you operate out of your mobile work space. Pack up and go! I hope the next video I see, you are emerging from your van, complete with cargo pants, hawaiin shirt, and some tropical, umbrella garnished, fruity drink to a chilly 60 degrees somewhere warm, near a beach complaining, yes complaining about how cold it is. Wave hi to all us northern, frozen, tundra burdened employees who are counting down the days until we gain our snowbird wings. Cheers!

    I'm from the midwest and I know to have in my car a shovel and a snow brush to remove snow from the car. If you're going to be going places that have snow you need those things. Glad you were able to get out but it could have gone the other way. And get your heater fixed.

    Mateooooooo I know everyone has already fussed at you in the comments but I'm gunna join in this time because this was so hard to watch. Pleaseeeee get tire chains and some traction tracks and a proper shovel. And thermal undergarments, a good coat and boots and the heater. You could stuck or get sick for real if you continue doing things this way. You don't need to "rough it" to have a genuine adventure. Please don't take your health or safety casually!!! I know you like snow and this type of winter vanlife content is trendy but please if you're going to keep being in snow, get yourself properly equipped and prepared for it. Otherwise, it's just a risk not worth taking. We all just care and want to make sure you and Lars are safe❤

    You can buy a foldable snow shovel. They don't take up much room and are worth it. You can use it to gather fire starting/extinguishing needs...sand for cat litter (in a pinch)...and dig/forage land/aquatic foods.

    I was one of those that got worried, and I am all the way in South African🇿🇦 and I even know that, that Jacket is not warm enough and not waterproof for snow. You need gloves, a proper snow scraper, a shavel, some wheel snow chains, an extra tank of gas/patrol, traction boards/mats and a rescue chain or rope to survive in the snow, desert or muddy terrains. Please keep dried emergency food in the van for incase you are stuck for longer than a day
    Thank God you are safe🤩.

    🇨🇦Keep a couple jugs of winter de-icer windshield washer fluid, a shovel, sidewalk salt, cat litter and a shovel, sometimes a ln old jacket, or blanket works to drive on for traction after a little bit of shoveling... dont accellerate quickly the friction will pack the snow and make ice.🇨🇦

    I aint gonna lie, you make me worry when you get yourself stuck in situations and youre all alone 😔 also, i wouldve asked to join their snowball fight, they probably wouldve let you. Its always crazy snow in the mountains in the winter time, they always get hit first with the majority of the snow from the clouds, before the valley and plains do, just for future reference. I would always check storm predictions before id camp out. I would also ask the locals what the weather generally is like this time of year. If it were me, i wouldnt be in the rest stop camp grounds in the winter. I would be some place close to where people patronize. I do pray for you and Lars to have safe travels, and for God to special watch out for you. ❤
