Seeing Amber at the college triggers an instinctive rage response now.
Remember when she called him a coward for disappearing while also being aware he was the hero fighting off the cyborg?
and then revealed that she knew all along, and either way, he either went to get help, or he did help
I’ve never understood why the writers wrote it like that it contradicts what they set up

They really should have kept her the same as the comics. I'm hoping the creators heard all the feedback and improve her in season 2.

Especially because she’s black and it shows they’re not afraid to make minority characters unlikable.
I like that Amber doesn't just throw her feelings aside like they meant nothing. Mark definitely put her through an emotional rollercoaster and him being Invincible doesn't negate the way she as stressing over him for months.

She was mad about him lying but she manipulated him and put lives at risk while doing it.
This is such a frustrating scene. Because while it makes sense in the moment. THIS is the scene that breaks the narrative because later [Spoilers...]
She will reveal that she knew Mark was Invincible the whole time. Meaning right now she knows Mark is Invincible. But if she knows that then why is she so upset? Ostensibly it's because mark abandoned them but she KNOWS he didn't abandon them. Even if she figures it out later. She still uses this incident as proof of why "it doesn't matter". When in reality, this is a completely mitigating factor. There are reasons for her to be upset. She can even be upset that he isn't there for her because he has to save people but for whatever reason they change the story so she's upset because he abandons her AND change the story so she already knew he was a hero. Without realizing the implications of that change. IIRC in the comics Amber doesn't "already know" he's a hero. She finds out and has the appropriate level of "Oh THAT'S why you're never around." I think they date properly for a while and break up for other reasons but the show tried to shortcut that do one tiny snip without realizing the thread was tied into a larger narrative.
Which is a shame because I otherwise *like* a lot of the changes made to Amber. I like her new visual design. I like her boldness. But this central change narrative is so small but affected so much. It was like in Wheel of Time when Perrin mentioned a wife and I had to stop the episode and come back to it the next day because I was so shocked.

I had a wild guess that she was upset because he didn't reveal his identity to her until the end. Like you said she's bold and she likes absolutes. She likes when partner says something with assertiveness instead of "I think" like shown in this clip and wants him to be fully committed to her. So the fact she knew his identity and he doesn't reveal it to her, it makes her upset, like he doesn't fully trust her and she doesn't like that. She knows about the issue of revealing identity but since she's his gf and all that, seems that's what makes her upset and her saying she knew it all the time makes me think that's what actually made her angry. She wanted him to confide to her as his gf knowing the secret. She felt entitled to it. I know this sounds like she has this toxic trait but I don't think it's a crazy guess since people like this actually exists.

Is she not aware that the most powerful heroes are dead GOTG and that the world of heroes is actually…complicated for someone like her. Also, she threw a BF right after a monster attacked as if it was his fault. She CLEARLY can’t read the situation nor the aftermath of said situation. 🙄

I mean we can see here in this scene. She is literally "break up with you" Upset because in her mind (in this scene) Mark abandoned her.

At that moment she know Mark was Invincible and despite seeing what he right went through ( I mean being heavily punched in his face etc.) she complains out of no reason.
With her knwledge Amber could have been a bit more comforting with Mark. Would have made much sense than just hating him.

Some people saying they are upset that Amber WAS aware he is a Super Hero, but later on when she said she knew he was a "Super Hero" She said "You don't trust me" and uh. 4:54 when she cried, that gives a response that she feels he wasn't taking her seriously enough to trust her and be open about him being a Super Hero, it's understandable to an extent. But that's my opinion.

@@BenE8844I mean in the comics it didn’t really follow him, it was just like a fun one or two chapter thing. Where both marvel and invincible just kind of made fun of tropes, and invincible and Spider-Man just kind of made fun of each other’s names. I don’t think this is going to necessarily be a spoiler because I doubt it’s going to be in season two, but pretty much he gets transported in the Marvel universe. They help him get back, and he knocks out a semi above street level villain or two while he’s there. Also, Spider-Man gives him some insight about the whole Omni man situation, but I don’t know if they build on that
For everyone asking about season 2, they posted a video with mark saying "alright alright the world will get more invincible in uh...late 2023" it might be taking them a long time because the animation seemed a bit different. It had more of 3D feel to it and the movements of the characters looked different as well.

@@king_garnet_morgan Nah, the writing is usually the first thing to get finalized in animation. Animation takes such a long time that you need to ensure that the writing is finished before you start.

well, it seems what’s gonna go down is, we will see basically up to conquest in season 2. so the invincible war will be the main conflict at the end of the season, with conquest lowering down into frame at the end for a cliffhanger of season three. now i’m not sure what’s gonna go down season three. perhaps the end of that will have rex and monster girl in the flaxxan dimension
