I can't say I'm really surprised about Roman's leukemia being used as a story line. Let's not forget the Edge, Lita, Matt Hardy fiasco. They also used Jeff's house fire/his dog's death in a storyline. They like to use real life issues, unfortunately.

While we're at it, let's be real here: Vince was never gonna let that push go on long. Hey, I LOVED The Shield; I LOVED Dean Ambrose - one of the best guys in the business. But given Jon's past experience and the type of matches he was known for, man, I'm sure he, on his own, could've come up with a real good storyline. Instead, WWE's with its stupid so-called "Creative Team's" heel turn storyline just STUNK up the place. WWE's so dumb they don't realize that their best storytellers are right out there in the ring, especially the experienced ones from the indies like Moxley.

Derek Caler I think he is. Rollins kind of buried himself with those tweets back then and has only somewhat recovered. Plus this messiah gimmick he has going on is not well received at all. So even if he’s known in front of millions, he’s not known for having a good character as of late. Moxley’s run in AEW is well received among fans, especially hardcore old school wrestling fans. Rollins and Reigns was on that Sports Illustrated list too but Moxley was number 1

James' Channel I do. This is why he was my favorite in the WWE and still is as Jon Moxley in AEW. I’ve even watched his matches in CZW and goddamn. I’m a fan of his work in these hardcore matches and admire his guts. This guy is someone that you can really say that he has balls especially after nearly dying from staph infection.👍

To be honest I figured he would be real good in AEW but never did I expect it to be this damn good. Because I never got to see the promos like he’s doing now. That promo he did when he entered AEW I was like wow. Then everyone in between was even better. That stuff with Tony Khan was unreal. Then this past week...it’s amazing to me that WWE (for all their past successes) didn’t see what they had in him. He coulda toned it down a little for them and still been unreal. How they made the Rock by letting him and SC to do most of their own stuff...and missed this?? Crazy to me

Even The Rock lamented how scripted things had become when he got heat from the brass for joking about Macho Man and Hulk Hogan cosplayers in the crowd during a live segment one time. Yes, The Rock got heat with brass.
The reason there are no real stars in WWE anymore is because they won't allow them to do their own thing (well, in NXT they can, but not on Raw or Smackdown where it counts).
We'll see if Trips can make stars out of the NXT roster now that they're on USA, but the ratings seem a little too low for that to happen right now.

If memory serves, Jon working with Nia had nothing to do with ruining his career. I believe The Shield did something that pissed Vince off (don't remember what). And either Vince didn't really want to punish Seth or Roman because they're his "Golden Boys" or Jon stepped up and told Vince to punish him since he wasn't renewing his contract anyway. Either way, Jon leaving WWE gave Vince and WWE a way to punish The Shield without ACTUALLY punishing The Shield. If Jon had re-signed with WWE, I don't think Vince would have done that stupid mini-story.

Why does the audience sound like they're talking among themselves and not even listening to him?
This was at Starcast so it's probably ambient noise more than it is the crowd not listening. I'm sure there's some talking amongst themselves but most of these big convensions even with the doors closed on the rooms are extremely loud. I remember SGC in Frisco, TX in 2012 was LOUD even when we were inside the big rooms with the doors closed

As much of a WWE fan I am, I can't blame Dean for wanting to leave one bit. I wish he was still here but you can tell how passionate he is about wrestling. He truly just wanted to get out, not to spite WWE, but to be able to finally express himself in the ring and as a wrestling character. He definitely has a mind for the business and I can't wait to see what he has in store for the future. Best of luck.

Jon had an amazing year since this interview. Topping the PWI 500. Had a strong reign as AEW World Champion. The reinvention of himself to his roots has done wonders for his career. He was the most complete member of The Shield indeed. Can’t wait to see what else he does for AEW and New Japan.
I'm proud of Jon for taking charge of his career and saying "enough is enough". He immediately worked to better himself the moment he left WWE. He was ranked the Wrestler of the Year by Sports Illustrated. Outranking names like Adam Cole and Seth Rollins.
I'm happy that Jon Moxley found himself happy again and how he has been killing it in AEW and Japan, ever since he left WWE.
I can only guess he's now comfortable with being made to look like an idiot and being part of stupid storylines, as he seems to love both in AEW.

But now that WWE's new owners Endeavor have effectively forced vince to stay the hell away from WWE Creative from now on & Triple H has brought WWE back from the brink, hopefully Dean will make a triumphant return to WWE once his current aew contract finally expires🤞🤞
Ever since triple h took over wwe,aew has gotten worse than ever before, nobody has nothing positive to say about aew, not jim Cornette, not Eric bishoff, not konnan and disco inferno, and even they hard-core fans like jdfromny206 and just alyx, they used to go hard for aew, now they can't even stand tony khan booking. Then he has the nerve to do the same thing with tna wrestling and hire jeff Jarrett to help promote aew, knowing how he was in impact wrestling. He doesn't know how to booked the women's division, and everyone who was fired by Vince McMahon and went to aew, is now regretting it, like miro and Artister black, and f t r and even tony storm isn't happy being their women's champion, because they don't look at her as a real champion because of thunder rosa. And he stays put small wrestlers over their monsters like orange Cassidy.
That's the difference between doing it for passion and doing it for money.
Of everyone in the Shield, I liked him the best. He had more personality in his little finger than the others showed during those years. I also loved when he, towards the end with WWE, looked at Seth and asked why Seth didn't help him. Then he "remembered' their feud. Classic and funny.

I can relate to many of his sentiments. I feel like he preached to me about leaving stuff behind that doesn't make you happy anymore because of how crappy you feel about it or how are you being treated every damn day. He's just so honest and bold about it.
When I start watching WWE again back in 2016, the only new wrestler that I like the most was Jon Moxley (when he was known as Dean Ambrose). All the other new wrestlers were so forgettable. I feel as though that WWE had no idea what to do with the wrestlers and it began to feel ridiculous.
1) Seth Rollins heel turn was so bad
2) That whole dog food gimmick with Baron Corbin and Roman Reigns was a joke

The only positive I could say about WWE, is that the entire WWE female roster is the best I have seen.
Now that vince McMahon is gone from wwe, and triple h is in charge, he has been showing moments from the shield with him in it, and in aew tony khan made chris Jericho more of a world champion more than jon moxley, plus triple h says that he's all about storylines that makes sense, unlike vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn

The problem with wwe is that they have only tried pushing roman throughout the decade, it was good at the beginning but later it became boring plus reigns was no good at mic and wrestling too.

This is the guy that made me watch WWE again back in 2016, his character was too good, too bad that WWE just turned him into a clown, what a let down, I felt like his story soured due to bad writing and I eventually stopped watching WWE shows cause I dont feel like the story lines are prepared well and I was glad that he left WWE cause that is not the place for him.
His interviews as Moxley and his interviews as Ambrose make him seem like two different people

I love the fact that Ambrose is happy. He was uncomfortable,suffocated in WWE. Now he can do whatever he wants to do. WWE,you lost a gem. I respect him that he had the guts to leave WWE with so much self confidence. Hats off.
