You showed the wrong standings. Hikaru is in third. That seems to be a photo of the standings from the middle of the day, as it showed Hikaru and Alireza a few points short of their ultimate blitz scores for the day.

Yes, a white pawn takes it's place... but you'd have a full piece. Not sure what the drawback would be. Exposing the king? You can move the bishop back, so its not trapped...
It was crazy that after Hikaru won a few games Peter Svidler thought Hikaru might put up a huge score, "like 6.5", and then both him and Alireza scored over 6.5... epic day. These guys are hard to beat in blitz right now, and Alireza will win the event with Hikaru second I think, possibly a distant second depending on what Alireza does.
