EXCELLENT video. No music, no narration. Just subtitles.
Original railway sounds for sure!
Your videos are the best, no music, no voiceover just the ambient train sounds and subtitles are definitely the way to go. I've seen other film makers who I can't name because RUclips censors that sort of thing and they won't shut up and their musical taste is awful and it ruins the film. Keep up the good work and thanks.
How unfortunate that you cant compliment this video without insulting others' work by discrediting based on personal preferences.
This comment has turned me off from watching this video.
@thewanderingsambal
Your loss
In fact I love this person’s work so much that I sat through entire Russian winter series from Vladivostok to Helsinki. What I appreciate is no voiceover
Original railway sound and captions is perfect, you're already doing it right. Travel videos on YT are always so full of chatter and terrible music, this channel is like an oasis of calm!
it is great to hear that
Did this trip on 25 dec 2007 with my family (4) Stockholm to Kiruna and back. Went there for ice hotel. Best vacation ever! All of is enjoyed the train journey!
I like the way it is now. Your sub titles are very informative. You have the best You Tube videos of all the ones filming train trips
I prefer voice overs because i tend do watch these while doing something else at the same time. Having voice overs allows me to still take in the information while i take my eyes of the screen for a second.
I like your videos just the way they are. No need to change. As a retired railroader and railfan I enjoy the technical details you make note of in your videos.
Very nice journey! I love hearing the train sounds, it makes it very real! Thanks for the lift!
Great video! 👍
Delayed trains are very common in Sweden.
Cash do exist even though some companies do everything they can to try to eliminate them.
I personally use cash as much as I can and will continue to do so! 😄
Just the original train only, subtitles, no voice-over, no music please; great video
Great trip report!
i like your videos the way they are. original railway sounds, the train-info and the ww2 history 👍👍
Another superb video, big compliments👋 Eager to see part two in October!!
Seems to me that happiness to you is an open window and a sleeper train. To me it is air conditioning and daytime travel to see the area I am traveling through. Luckily it looks like we can each have it our way.
Another excellent video of a great railway journey! I much prefer the original train sounds and will not watch videos with a music soundtrack. This channel is still the best of the YT train travel channels. The quality and editing of the video and the focus on the journey without a bunch of distracting annoyances to break the flow is what makes it stand out. There are some newer channels that have decent production quality and editing skills but they are too much copies of one another with the same "chatter" (on every single video!) about seat pitch and toilets and frequent interruptions asking for subscribers/sponsors. Better to do one unique video every 1-2 months rather than weekly videos that all blend into each other. But that's just my perspective. Thanks for sharing your journeys with us!
I did this trip in a seat in winter time a few years ago. Great video BTW 😊
I travelled this way to work in the summer of 1967 wi5h SGU Swedish Geological Survey!
Live in Australia , Melbourne! 👍😁
I like your attention to detail and emphasis on interesting info about the route. Others tend to focus on the toilets and electrical outlets and don't even show views out of the window. I like the longer length too. By all means keep this up.
The seats look to low to get a good window view.
What a great and informative video, thankyou!. Yes, I would say that I prefer the original video doundtrack as recorded.
Thank you for your wonderful and informative videos. I also prefer videos without music, and with the written narrative and railroad sound. It was thoughtful of you to consider asking your fans for their opinion. Thank you again!
Another great video! I have been on the same route and spent several days in Kiruna, including the underground tour of the LKAB iron ore mine. Fascinating! We prefer the ambient/railway sounds, too many good videos have been ruined by awful “music”.
Original Railway Sound, by far! Just like what I'd experience if I were to travel on trains.
Original rail sound 👌👌
Original rail sounds. That's what I prefer. I like your narrative, it is informative for us who are interested in the geographical information. It would be good to hear you narrate because font is small on my android phone. Thankyou for you supurb videography. 💕
I prefer hearing the train sounds. Another great video. Thanks
Thank you for your videos and yes, the sound of the train is preferred. Mood lighting is an extra bonus.
21:39 I've got to admit, I've cracked a smile when I saw Bothnian Sea :D and regarding your question at 39:01, I like the mixture of both.
Great video, I really enjoyed it. Your video brought back some memories of when I took this trip. It was on SJ a some years ago in the middle of winter. Gothenburg via Stockholm with a change of trains along the way, or some additional cars added to ours, I don't remember which but it was just a short wait. No restaurant car, but a decent cold breakfast in the morning also had a an on suite bathroom with shower. I believe we arrived in Narvik in the early evening. I would love to do it again as the scenery was great especially with the snow.
with train sound is perfekt.
I´m excited to see Kiruna-Narvik. Great done!
I like your video just the way it is: with the original railway sound and the text in English every now and then. I watched it from beginning to the end, without being bored for a single second!
15:58 Sweden is not entirely cashless.
Basically all grocerystores, convenience stores (Pressbyrån/7-Eleven and the like) and a bunch of other stores accept cash as payment.
Nice video. Great to have neither music nor speech (sorry slow readers).
I did the trip in 1990, with a totally silent sleeper to Boden. All SJ back then. I started my trip in Copenhagen and spent three hours in Stockholm with an old pal before leaving.
I had my own coach (not just acompartment), working on my laptop and listening to the BBC on the long wave all the way from Kiruna almost Narvik. Bus to Tromsø at 100 km/h on packed-ice roads.
Excellent video, thank you. Looking forward to part 2!!
Always the original railway sound.
Think I prefer how you present the channel atm, with the railway sounds, and added text descriptions. Altho, that might not be the best way to grow your channel. With narration a lot depends on the presenters talking skills etc and keeping the viewers interested. Think you'd need to be a really confident and friendly speaker for that. So whatever you choose 👍
As an aside, really like those RC6 locos with the black/silver SJ livery. Reckon that gets into my top 5 locos 😉
Great trip. Finally you make this trip, and yes in this time same train but with different operators.
Your videos are impressive, both for the image and sound quality and for the routes you take. Very good your work. a cordial greeting
Original rail sound. :)
Another great video, thank you
I have a niece who is a train a
engineer in the USA.Very proud of her. She works for CSX.
I notice that Swedish trains drive on the left, the same side as Swedish road traffic prior to 3 September 1967.
Lovley video from my home..the music was perfect allso 😎🇸🇪
thank you
Fantastic trip report 🙂
To reply to your question: I would prefer videos without music (was already afraid in the beginning, but as start it was fine) and with narrative and/or the original railway sound. Keep going 😎
Thanks for these series! Original sound pleasures better.
Original train sounds
Beautiful sharing 🙂
Excellent Enterprising Emerging Evolving Travel Endeavor. Hearty Greetings from India 🇮🇳 ⚘️🌹💐🤝🙏
Hopefully I'll do this trip in january during winter xD .10/10 video. Dont even think about adding music pls.
3:25 Small error: The departure board says "track 12" not "track 11" as written in the text. But a perfect video that makes me feel the wish to do this trip by my own. Thank you.
Oh, and to answer your question: I prefer the original railway sound.
PS - original sound preferred please. Looking forward to Part 2 to Narvik.
Very interesting & seemingly very well informed. Well done! Gotta go on that one.
日本でも、このような長距離夜行列車が、また走って欲しいと、切に願っています。いいですよね。
Original rail sounds has my preference.
Great presentation! I once lived in Sweden and traveled all over the south, but the furthest north I ever got was Härnösand. I can only dream of making a trip like this someday.
Thank you for a great ride and, please, keep the original sound, avoid the YT music if you can; looking forward to Part 2
Railway sounds every time.
I am by accident find the video. Thank you very much. You give me lot of info about the trip, and views all the way. The video does not like the other videos, they love their food in the trains. But about too much about the ride. Thank you again.
We are taking this train to Narvik in a couple of weeks, so this is not only great to watch, but is also very informative. I’ll have my son with me, so we’ll need to prep snacks 😄
A quick update: we are on the train 94 right now (March 14, 2023), just passed the arctic circle. I woke up when we stopped to separate the cars traveling to Lulea this morning (along with the restaurant). We later found out that a coffee station was attached in its place offering coffee, juices, breakfast sandwiches and other snacks.
The sites are gorgeous. We are in the private sleeping compartment and I think this is the best option when you are traveling as a couple or general people who know each other. I’ve noticed that many people from 6-sleeper compartments have to sit in the hallway to have privacy. Not very comfortable, so would not recommend unless you know all 5 other people traveling with you.
The WL6 (2nd class sleepers) do, in fact, have AC. The difference between WL6 and WL4 (1st class sleeper) is the personal bathroom and 2 beds instead of 3 in the latter.
Great video though, there were some minor irks like the Regina X54 in Gävle belonging to Tåg i Bergslagen and not X-tåget and the ”Iron ore line” being called “Malmbanan” (“Erzbahn” is probably German). But otherwise you have made a great video with interesting facts! Keep it up! 👍
Love your videos. More please.
Great video as always!! one unique thing Swedish rail can add to that long distance train especially during winter would be a "sauna car " and showers to wash off. Bet that would be a hit for business. I'd pay extra to use that !
I’ve always thought of that - like a sauna and relaxation area on the main sleeper routes
@@jatterhog Yea , because its dark up there for most of the day in winter so there's nothing to look at so at least you can sit in a sauna and relax before bed time.
Agree that the huge fee to use Arlanda station is really bad. Thankfully it is easily avoided with a short ride to Marsta.
amazing country beautiful people wonderful railway stations and thanks for the video Sir 🙏🏻👍🏻 Sohail Karachi Pakistan ❤️🌹
Hello, thanks a lot for sharing this amazing videowalk. It is a pleasure to watch your Videos. Keep on going this good work. Many greetings from good old Vienna🎡🎩
Stunning video! So fun and interesting to see my own country like this! :D
When I did this journey in March this year, there were a lot more passengers. The seating carriage was 70% full between Abisko and Kiruna, for example.
Original railway sound.
Was the most awesome way to get from Arlanda to Gallivare will G-D Willing definitely do this again
wow enjoyed, it was as if I'm traveling ❤️🙏
I really enjoyed your presentation and also that you had skipped all music.
Superb video
im go on tis train on söndag
I *demand* that part 2 be released earlied than October :-)
On the sountrack: sound of train/tracks/wheels: yes. Sound of wind: no. But for a short clip with wind that isnt long eough for music, then wind is lesser of evil.
Very interesting material on this video ! 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Beautiful video! I want to see the Kiruna to Narvik too.
I will travel there in winter. You are wellcome.
Felicitări Prietene👏👏
Congrats 😊

Now I may not have ridden it myself but I regularly chat with people who live in Luleå and Kiruna and if their words are anything to go by, the switch from SJ to VY has been a huge downgrade. Ever since then the cleanlines has become quite bad most of the time, punctuality and service gone way down and prices hiked up a ton. During the SJ days there were also another dining car between Luleå and Narvik. IIRC the prices for a sleeper cabin all the way from Stockholm to Narvik back in the SJ days was just around 80 euros!
Very nice journey. I prefer travel vids with just the natural sounds of the trains etc.
Please don't add music -- it seems everywhere I go and everything I watch has to have music all the time. I watch your videos for peace and escape. Please just keep making them the way you already do.
This train is stopping in my hometown Uppsala. I have seen that train a couple of times.
Oh, I took this train last summer! Traveled from Stockholm to Narvik and back with several stops. In my channel you can see videos from this trips! It's wonderful!
Great movie
Best trainspotter ever! The others should learn.
32:27 Hector Rail 243 is known in Germany as DB BR193 and Vossloh G6 or DB BR650. Where your Sleeper train went the SJ RC6 needs to weave in and out of IORE Iron Ore trains with SA-3 couplers compatible with a DB BR189 C-Akv couplers
I was looking at your fims in wrong order, but it dosent matter, nice film and job.👍👍👍👍
Quite interesting. A train consisting on Swedish rolling stock and hauled by a Swedish locomotive operated by Norwegian Vy (ex NSB).
Vy Tag AB is a Swedish company (formerly known as Tågkompaniet)
Awesome. I just want to know, can you see aurora from a train journey? If it is possible, could you show us?
I love your video its excellent, I prefer the original sound of the train that's already a music for me, just a little bit narrative will do, you know the importance things. Thanks 🙏.
Hi love going by train,,I do this tripp 3-4 Times a year,,( from malmo- Gallivare) its the same train that goes to Kiruna/ Narvik,,
Do this tripp beacurce a have a hause there,, yea i have 6 beeds car/cabin ,sens im going whit my dog ( they do not alowe animals in the other sleeping cabin/car),,its nice comfy,,even IF there is not """ a/c
But thats ok i have the termo/ heat on " ziro" ,,looking forward to my next tripp in december,,thank you for your tripp adventures
Svartbyträsket is on the other side of the train and can not be seen from there and Boden is about an hour south of the Lapland border.
Thanks for a great video of Swedish rail from the passenger side for a change. You did well with all the commentary an stuff. Sadly, I am deaf but love the subtitles. If I could hear it I would rather just have train sounds not music etc. Look forward to part 2.
Very good film! Though Lapland is not entered until after Boden. Stambanan genom övre Norrland runs through the provinces of Jämtland, Ångermanland, Västerbotten and Norrbotten.
Hi, just to comment on the question towards the end of the video, regarding music/sounds/narration - I think a lot of travel videos are ruined by a poor choice of soundtrack, so I definitely prefer these train videos without music - without music makes for much more relaxing viewing. Sometimes the wind sounds are quite loud, but maybe it's a lot of work to edit them out. The "original" train sounds are enjoyable. I wouldn't mind narration, but the subtitles are fine too and are probably more informative. Thanks for great content!
Călătorie plăcută,Prietene🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃👍
lovely and relaxing vidio x
doc7austin’s DreamlinerCentral: FASCINATING journey!
I did Estocolmo to Gallivare up of artic circle in July 2006🕔🕘❤
Amazing.
i don't need music original sound is way better, maybe put one of these anti-wind-furs on your microphone if the windows are open?
