Hi Rachelle, I will still be able to collect the occasional piece on some other beaches...I will just leave it at Vermilion! Thank you for your continued support!
Beautiful collection, and I really don't understand why the drift wood can't be brought home because it deteriorates, or at least I thought it did. I love drift wood . Thank you for your videos. You are always very informative. My husband and I love your videos. God bless you and your family And Thank you for your videos .
That is so nice of you to say...I'm so thankful! Driftwood does deteriorate...but more than that...one wind storm removes some and deposits others...but I want to do the right thing! Thank you and your husband for finding us!
Best wishes . It is all about the hunt anyway. When you have them on video they are yours forever. I do the same . Take care and keep enjoying this beautiful creation.
Thank you so much for agreeing and taking the time to leave a nice comment! I really appreciate it. Do you have a channel with some of your finds? And what a beautiful creation it is!
I came up north Thursday and picked all day. Thought I might see you out there. Found a some real gems including one over 6 oz but I don’t have a scale big enough to weigh it. Hope you decide to keep all your agates you find. There’s plenty to go around for years just like there has been for many 100s past. You could just leave behind all the other cool rocks. That’s what I do anyway. Maybe I’ll catch ya in the spring!
Awesome about your great luck at the beach...was it at Vermilion? Do you have any pictures of your agates you found...I haven't found a 6 ouncer in a long time other than my almost 8 ounce skip an atom! That would be cool to meet up in the spring.
@@upperpeninsulabeautiful yup at your favorite spot. I’ve been watching your videos since you started and watching you find all those great agates and seeing your collection made me want to go look for my own. So thanks to your videos and the agates you found, I went to look for myself and will forever be grateful for the agates I found. I just started agate hunting this spring and thanks to guys like you and Rob who share your finds, it allowed me to learn some spots to pick. I owe that to you Dan! I do have some awesome pictures of my big gem but I’m not sure how to send them unless I have your phone number.
I love your video's. I have been looking for agates also but I live in Western Kentucky and I have only found a few. But I will keep looking. You have found many beautiful ones. Love watching you. Have a Blessed day.
Oh, do you actually have some kind of agates in Kentucky? I think I misunderstood you! What kind of areas do you look for agates down there!...rivers, lakes, gravel pits?
As a general rule it is not illegal to take driftwood from the beach. You may want to check with someone at Vermillion, Dan about it before you return what you found.
Your right...just with Vermilion being a preserve and all...I'm just going to take it back no questions asked! I will find some on another beach😄 thank you for watching...be on the lookout for my beach video!
Apparently there are some beaches it's frowned upon...but others it's ok. I will find another beach. I'm happy to take it back so others can see it...however any big wind storm will take it away anyway😄
You are fabulous! Totally new to your channel and hope you join mine. Listen, I can tell you are genuine and a deep dive thinker. So nice of you and really a blessing to have you part of my YT friend. Excellent collection of agates. Never found myself, but definitely on my bucket list. Omarlucks is another. Lake Huron doesn't seem to have. I'll keep watching. You're very authentic and knowledgeable. Keep it up and will be here.
That was such a special comment to read after I got back from my daughter's basketball game (her team is undefeated...so proud as a dad). I will surely check out your channel...so I am completely new to all things social media...I'm even new to smart phones...I'm blazing a new trail deep into the wilderness of technology and internet albeit with some great help from Rob. But I have been a writer for years and love telling stories...both written and verbal...guess it's carrying over to this channel a bit. It's funny...when I filmed the video with Rob...it was easy for me...but when he filmed his...I choked in front of the camera almost everytime he asked me a question...he must have had to cut alot out. But the video day with him was so awesome. Thank you again for finding us and I will go check out your channel.
I would disagree with the comment about collecting at Vermilion. National parks and lakeshores prohibit this. This would include Pictured Rocks and the area of Whitefish that is fenced off and Isle Royale. Vegetation should not be removed from a nature preserve. And because the plovers breed there, of course they shouldn't be disturbed. I would like to see where the commenter got this information. I've been searching online and so far haven't found anything stating this. If this were the case, i would think rocks also couldn't be collected at vermilion. I just think he may be thinking of National Parks and lakeshore, not nature preserves.
You know...I wondered about agates taken there too! If they allow agates...then why not driftwood? However, even if it is or isn't a rule or law...I will still leave the driftwood there for others to see. Vermilion is a special place and I want others to enjoy all it has to offer! I know of some other beaches with good driftwood!😀👍
My heart feels heavy that you can't collect driftwood. Looking forward to your future adventures. Your agate collection is beautiful.

@@matthewheagany3490you could send me an email... hewingmandan@yahoo.com. If that would work? Love to see it!
The rule is you can't take vegetation (actively growing). Why is it called "Driftwood"? It drifts, that's why; it drifts from somewhere else.
That makes sense...the funny thing is they encourage picking the wild cranberries...those are vegetation...food for thought!

@@upperpeninsulabeautiful We do have a lot of agates but most are in eastern Kentucky so I find a lot of little ones here.
@@telessiajones7041 I've heard our Lake Superior agates float way down the Mississippi river? Are they what your finding? Cool nonetheless!
God Bless you. Your heart is in the right place. ❤

Nice agates collection
