Has anyone been to Whisky Galore? They honestly have the best selection for whisky enthusiasts in NZ! Have a look here: www.whiskygalore.co.nz/. As I always say, if you’re coming to New Zealand, make sure Whisky Galore is on your list of places to visit! Big thanks to them for sponsoring this video!
Michael and the team at Whisky Galore are very knowledgeable and almost too enthusiastic to open a dram and sample it with you. A little piece of Scotland in this corner of the Pacific. Definitely worth stopping in.
This was an awesome watch guys. As another SEQ boy that's spent a lot of time over the last year trying to get people to try more Aussie spirits (outside of Gin), and someone that's still fairly early into his whisky journey, it's awesome seeing you guys talk with so much enthusiasm and excitement about ANZ whisky. I recently got to try a few Lark expressions, their Chinotto cask I think is what really opened my eyes to what Aussie whisky can be just in terms of the very different cask types we have available to us. I know Starward have a Panettone whisky coming out really soon which I'm excited about, especially after trying the Chinotto cask and I'm also a big fan of Morris' Muscat and Tokay wines they make (I think legally the Tokay alcohol has to be called Topaque now but it's kinda like the Sherry thing with the cask naming) so I think I'll have to give the Muscat & Tokay barrel single malts a crack at some point. The content both of you guys put out is top notch and I've learned a lot from watching videos from both of you!
Normally I'm more of a silent enjoyer of your videos. But a video of this calibre deserves some appreciation and a little boost in the algorithm through interaction :) Great video of both of you!

What a fantastic conversation guys. The passion and excitement you both have for whisky and New Zealand and Australian whisky was so warming to see and hear in your voices. I'm so new to whisky, slowly building my collection of Scotch, but 45 minutes into this video, I had to buy a Pōkeno from my local Liquorland to take away with me for a weekend at a friend's beach house. Phil I think this video has had a massive impact on whisky sales in NZ as I had to try a couple of stores as Pōkeno was sold out, I got the last bottle of Discovery in Whanganui while travelling up the motu from Wellington. Staff were telling me that all stocks of NZ whisky were low. I’ve now enjoyed a glass of Pōkeno on a Friday evening, waves crashing on the beach and finishing off your video ❤. I want to let you know that your time and effort on these videos is fantastic, and keep up the excellent work.
Loved this video and the collab with Wade. That Pokeno Prohibition Porter sounds right up my alley, porter is my favourite beer style. I agree with the Thomson Full Noise, it reminds me of eating manuka smoked fish when I was younger. I have the Starward Unexpeated, which is a really good whisky. From memory the difference between the Unexpeated and the Peated is that the Peated was finished in the peated barrels for longer. There are so many good whiskies available down in this part of the world and it is great that you and Wade can showcase them. If it weren't for you highlighting it on an earlier video I never would have known about The Goleta, which I'm loving. Unfortunately, I haven't been to Christchurch since getting into whisky, but a visit to Whisky Galore is definitely a must do the next time I am there. Cheers!

@@Splinta13which ones have you tried?
@@McIntyresMalts entry level whiskies..primarily lawrenny, manly spirits and lark, very expensive for what it's worth..especially compared to fusion which itself has gone up in price..however i will concede that maybe there are other distilleries that might be better but prices for even entry level australian single malts seem way too much!!
@@Splinta13 Don't give up hope mate, there are many lesser known Aussie whiskies that I'm sure will surprise you. If you haven't already, look into Highwayman, Spring Bay, Morris of Rutherglen for more affordable price points, Amber Lane... lots of stuff out here that is worth looking for 🥃
Great video! @McIntyresMalts thanks for holding down the fort for the Aussies. Remnant Golden Fleece is 10 Years Old + casks go into the marriage. The Whisky is only getting older. 10YO Tassie whisky for $99. Winner winner!
