Heard this one for the first time tonight..... Been crying ever since.😢😢😢. I'm familiar with the tune, but first time from Scott. Doesn't get any better than this. I wish I could have told him.❤❤😢. RIP dear great one.
I love this song especially the versions of Eydie Gorme and Matt Monroe but having heard this it is right up with them. Thoroughly enjoyable!!! Thank you for sharing.
I agree! Please also check out Sergio Franci singing this! 2:50 Another exceptional and excellent version!😱🤗Oh, by the way - Eddie Fisher also recorded a wonderful version of this song!🤔🧐👍
Ah, I haven’t listened t this track for ages G, his voice takes over your mind, very few people can sing without music but Scott can do anything, love Arlene xxxxxxxxx ❤
such a voice i dont think he really new what a talent he had aiways looking for something more he will always be apecial to me god bless you scott what a voice x
Scott Walker was an amazing talent. He came across as a very shy person. He chose to take a back seat in the music industry, just dipping his feet in the water when he felt the need. It takes courage to do this.
This rendition makes me think of the character of Patrick (as an adult), singing it for his Auntie Mame, instead of the other way around as it is in the musical, which is Mame singing it for her nephew, Patrick.
I enjoyed this singer's performance on a most touching song. I hear the Tony Bennett tonality going on -- which is a good thing! Thank you for posting and introducing me to the singer. Applause!
no problem! thanks for putting this on - i had so many of Scott's albums on vynil, and they got mislaid, so i was so pleased to hear these songs again!! :;+))
How much would this LP be worth with Scott's signature on it (signed for my wife at a small gig he played in Newport, Mon, along with all the members of his 5 piece band, back in the early '70's? Just a thought....the memories are more precious.
Forget the signature, just to own the album is an achievement. Your copy could fetch a bit though, I would say. The vinyl album has been deleted, Scott blocked its release on CD (because he did not see it as typical of where he was going (off the beaten track!) I DO has a copy too, bought second hand many years ago. A Top 10 album on British charts without one single released to carry it! Extraordinary singing - John Franz and Peter Knight involved in musical direction and arrangements - with that voice, how much better could it get?
Sadly there is only one recording of mame I wish it could be revived this song is one of the most poigiant and beautiful songs Jerry Herman wrote about a young boy growing away from his Auntie Mame
I stand corrected. I knew it didn't sound well, but I couldn't figure out what else it might be... And it was so obvious, stupid me... Thanks so much, Martin! :)
@guidofski Just maybe they were heartbroken and the disc and it's songs reminded them of a love now lost, and they had to part with it, it may have been that way, or just maybe you are right, but we will never know I guess......
Rex Albright: from Wikipedia: "The continued unavailability of Scott: Scott Walker Sings Songs from his T.V. Series is believed to be due to Walker's dissatisfaction with the album and his albums from the early 1970s, which he describes in the documentary Scott Walker: 30 Century Man as his "wilderness years". Walker has blocked CD re-releases of the TV Series album, The Moviegoer (1972) and Any Day Now (1973)".
Love this version of this beautiful song sung by the fabulous Scott walker ❤💕xxx perfection 🥰xx
So I've been listening to this one repeatedly since I heard it yesterday. Although it's hard to pick a favorite by Scott, this is it for me.❤❤❤❤❤
He was almost crooning. Who needs Sinatra, Perry Como, Tony Bennett... 🙃

Scott sings this song beautifully and convincingly. An incredible voice. This interpretation touches one's heart.
So beautiful melody
Jerry Herman is a genius and I love Scott’s rendition

Scott Walker's musicality leaves you breathless
Michael I agree...its hard to think of another artist who has that level of musicality...only one I know...Van Morrison.
Beautiful voice ❤️❤️💜❤️❤️❤️
This is magnificent. Scott nails it.
The best song from name and the second best song by Herman this epitomizes the class that was the mid sixties
Beautiful Song.
A great voice and an even better delivery.

loved it!

Oh Scott you never disappoint me
You're welcome. Sorry to hear about the albums... hopefully RUclips is some consolation! :)
It's from the "Scott Walker - Classics & Collectibles" CD. Wish I had the original LP, though...
Thanks for your interest. :)
guidofski I have the original vinyl I'm happy to say along with all his work from the walker Brothers up to and including The Drift
you posted songs from the original LP or from CD...mint sound quality!!!!
Oh, that's just great! Whoever sold it was obviously not worthy of owning that treasure, haha. So good for you! :))

@@PH-gx3ge Me, too.
Gutted this album not on cd

he says, "should i blame the times i pampered her, Or blame the times i BOSSED her" (not "bust" her) - changes the sense slightly!!
;:0)))
Being such an admirer of Eydie Gorme' version of this song, I must say Scott's version isn't Eydie; but isn't bad either. 6/2019
I totally agree and it's great to hear a man singing this song in a masculine way.
I stand corrected. I knew it didn't sound well, but I couldn't figure out what else it might be... And it was so obvious, stupid me...

Jim Pike equally did it well even better because he added sexiness into it, without trying. I choose Jim Pike.
Matt Munro kills it too
Why is this LP never on a CD?

I wonder if this should be reconsidered now by the record company. Surely an anthology of albums would be a winner?
Thanks odoanna, that's really nice of you. :)
