very cool! I've heard that UV curing the resin for way longer than you normally would (like, hours) can help reduce the outgassing of volatiles which can mess with even the most bulletproof primer.

Yeah this was a factor I considered later. I'll pay extra attention to this step next time!

Thoroughly enjoyed this Josh! You're my favorite manic-pixy-dreamboy-youtuber-extraordinaire! But yeah, interesting how that smoothed polished clean look presented itself as such a challenge. I know I'd be completely lost if I ever attempted something like this.
Failed 3D prints. Been there, so much fun🙄
Also put a hole in my film using a metal putty knife!
    Loved the sanding theme song!
HEY! NEIL AT REAL TERRAIN HOBBIES! I'm liking this story! And for the spell it's obviously just a teleportation spell to get them 46 Hoblitts for the well shaft clogging procedure! My trusty mELF companion knows this. Also, I'm assuming there has been more to this story prior that I need to do some catching up on it seems!
Who woulda thought masking wouldbe such a pain in the assets. I havent done much, or any? on a model like this before, but the advice i got for making the house while painting was to to an extremely light coat to start, and then with similar light coats layer accordingly. this prevents bleeding and i *think* it helps to prevent the paint from pulling up when removing. Anyway, I obviously havent finished watching so I'll wait and see what your final solution was.
HEY look at that! you're doing the many many thin coat method I suggested! YOU'RE WECOME!!!
    🤦‍♂seriously on the lacquer???🤦‍♂
Getting your boi Dan to sign that would indeed be super cool.
DUDE love The Foreman. So cool man. You did it bro, BIG pat on the ole back and well done on not giving up and persevering and learning these harsh lessons so we don't have to!
And Shane, love your work man. Soooo so so good. 😎

"I'm assuming there has been more to this story prior" Nope, I read the whole thing. Each month there's a handful of sentences added. It starts very "in medias res", haha. Anyway, glad you like it!

Why don't you use oyumaru paste for masking ? I think This is what they usually do for limited edition handmade toys produced in china

    • @JoshForeman

@@JoshForeman you'd make it maleable by plunging it in hot water, comform the shape to your model, carefully cut any extra, and then you get a reusable solid mask to the shape of your toy that you can use with an airbrush

why not 3d print it as separate parts that you paint then assemble

    • @JoshForeman
      @JoshForeman  2 года назад +1

I will definitely do that next time. Though separating a 3D model is not a simple task either.
