I like this module. I also have the SSF Dipole dual filter. There are differences. This Gemini is more "old school" , with lots of resonance....aka the 12db SEM influence) The Gemini is way more "brassy, buzzy, angry, aggressive..... etc) this is how I describe it. This is a good thorough video.
this is an old review, but it's really, really good. what a great sounding filter. It seems like you prefer it with self-oscillation on. I'll just have to get one and try it.
Hey thanks for this :-) Question. What is your input on the input1 and VCF1 when you did the vowel sounds at 32:20. I wanna do some more formant sounds with my modular. And just got this filter today :-) Cheers.
Mmm, that was last year I can't remember which specific VCO I was using at the inputs, sorry. If I find some old photo or raw footage or notes I'll let you know. 👍
In sequential OB-6, you can easily modulate the filter type (going from LP to Notch to HP) with the LFO, as if Gemini had a CV input for its Vary knob. I am still thinking will puting filters in parallel, feeding the SAME input to both, setting the first filter to LP, second to HP, and modulating between the two filters, can simulate the modulating the Notch filter on Sequential OB-6 or not?! Any ideas?
Hi, I do not own the OB-6 so I can't be 100% sure of how that one sounds. The setup you describe will allow you to modulate between the frequency spectrum content of each of the two filters' outputs. So you would have both outputs alternating or if you are using a crossfader you can cross-fade between the content of those two outputs (e.g. doepfer-a-138e without CV control.. or can use a CV controlled crossfader module/joystick/mixer setup). In terms of Notch Filter (or band stop filter) you can carve that notch using the two filters so that there is a BAND not included as you say... So if you have both outputs mixed together you would have the sum of those two outputs which should have the Notched out spectrum not present... So if you where to modulate/crossfade the final output you can have the [Low Passed Audio Only]... then the [Low Passed]+[missing notched area]+[High Passed Audio]... and the [High Passed Audio Only]... how close this gets specifically to how how the OB-6 works I am not sure...
@@seek4truth Sure! Oh.. if you were also aiming at modulating the actual Notch filter you can modulate both HP and LP on the Gemini so that the resulting notch moves and you would need to get the total output as above... but yes, I am sure you already got that part sorted :) Have fun!
Thanks for watching the video :) and for commenting. The AJH Synth Gemini 2412 you just ordered, I am sure, it will not disappoint you. Have fun with it, I did :)

I stil love this filter 👍, thank you for your comment 👍
Great vid, i have one on order! Cheers
I have one of these filters, this is a great review with some nice ideas for using it.
Thank you for your comment! Lovely filter.
Would Double like this vid if i could. Really appreciate your work and in depth explanation. Fantastic Module.
Thank you, actually... Double Thank you :) !

I want it so much!!!!!
It's lovely isn't it.
Just ordered it!!! Thanks for the fantastic demo!
