So my memory of your song is my Ma playing this in our car and we sang to it . I was a child. Lois dropped out of high school to model for Eileen Ford at 15 , was all round Buddha (not even knowing what a Buddha was) . She died at 45 from breast cancer . This song (for me) is for all the lights among us that shine and burn and must say farewell . Thank you for writing this song that Lois and I used to sing in the car (beat up Chevy Impala mind you )

Thanks to both of you, that was a fun light hearted treat in a way too serious world!
I have loved Melanie since I was a teenager late 70's
Unexpected tears of joy. I still have and play my "Some Say I got Devil/Brand New Key" 45 record. Thank you Melanie, for sharing your gifts with us and filling the world with your beautiful loving voice. 🎶❤
Sending care along as you transition through the great divide. Gratitude Melanie, for this restorative collaboration above and for all of your songs in the world. When I was 16 years old, your words for sure got me through some long nights. Peace be with you.
Loved Melanie so much. Would roller skate around singing Brand New Key. Still love it. RIP and thanks for the music 🎶
Absolutely wonderful!! Brings back fond memories of an era when you had real musicians and people could sing. Beautiful!
Miley loves music--you can see it in her collaborations. She's not interested in just being a star. Keep on doing.
I agree with this
people hack on her but what a voice ,gteat mentor in Melanie consumate profressional
Thank you for writing this song that Lois and I used to sing in the car (beat up Chevy Impala mind you )
I’m so happy I found this !! Oh Melanie is a big part of my heart !! I broke down learning she passed . My inner child wept and I became a mess as I listened to her songs again reliving that time !!So glad she touched me that way . great-full for her forever!!
RIP Melanie.. what a voice, a beautiful woman and a bright spirit. Condolences to your family and friends.
If thus woman only knew how special her songs have been in my life. This one in particular sums up my life in so many ways. Thank you Melanie.
I know now... :)
My dad, who was a multi-instrumentalist and a huge promoter of female artists, introduced my siblings and I to Melanie, when we were little kids (late 60s). We LOVE YOU MELANIE. Miley, you are a gem too. I love that you're so willing to explore different avenues of music, and, despite a lot of the hate that flows in your direction, you really are talented.
What "hate"?
No hate intended, but Jeff, you need to get out from under that rock
The hate disguised as "musical discernement?" Beat it, kid.
@@cneff3494 I'm 60 and I didn't know what hate you were referring to, I loved her and everyone around me seemed to love her too.

Wow melanie you still have an amazing voice...so glad you chose to sing with miley cos that girl can sing anything....beautiful duet... beautiful version thank you x
Melanie! I grew up in Massachusetts and in about ‘98 my moms friend Laura Dickey showed me your music. Laura is from Texas. She ended up doing my hair for my prom. All these years have passed (I’m 30 now) and your music STILL touches me. Your voice is gorgeous and STRONG. Just like you. I love you Melanie!
Melanie you are an absolute legend!
I can't tell you the last time I heard this but it brings back memories of when I was a kid. Mom used to sing this all the time as she cleaned up after the 3 of us kids. Mel sounds great and Miley didn't go over the top; just simple & honest vocals. Great duet; love to hear more like this.
Perfect !!! I've never been a fan of Miley Cyrus but this is great. I absolutely adore you Melanie
listen to some of miley's covers on here. she'll really change your mind.
Wow , I had no idea Miley could sing SO well. That her voice had developed so much character. You two together … !
Yeah, when she's not singing her own crap music, she's pretty good...
@@seanseoltoir actually her latest music which is influenced by 70's 80's and 90's Rock sounds really great
She has a great voice. Just give her great material.
Her own music isn't crap, she's a great artist.@@seanseoltoir
Nobody will ever replace Melanie. I hope Miley treasures the honor she experienced being in her presence and singing with such an icon. Sing with the angles Melanie
Ruhe in Frieden Melanie... Danke für deine tolle Musik! Grüße aus Deutschland... Greetings from Germany
SO happy that Black Mirror is bringing some new people to Melanie appreciation! I've loved Melanie since I was 11 and heard "Brand New Key." 62 now, still love her as much if not more.
Can't believe today. This awesome talented gentle soul just passed this plane. RIP sweet sister, Lay down, lay down.
Melanie, you are a national treasure. You taught us so much with your beautiful voice and songs. ✌🏾❤️🌱✨

Born in '67 and don't quite remember Woodstock, but I love and listen to all of Melanie's songs. Always too good. Your Woodstock footage gives me goosebumps. Pure talent!
Love this rendition with Miley, too.
