The human condition is an excellent movie. Brutally realistic. An important part of human an life that needs to be shared with all people. My prayer is that maybe, just maybe, human beings will change for the better.

I am still trying to find a japanese version of this interview with english subtitles (just like here) in where Mr. Kobayashi talks about my favorite movie directed by him = Harakiri. The Human Condition, Kwaidan and Harakiri are true unique masterpieces. Love his work.
If Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune are the Japanese John Ford and John Wayne, Masaki Kobayashi and Tatsuya Nakadai are the Japanese Sergio Leone and Clint Eastwood.
Nope. Nakadai can actually act and Kobayashi was a much better director than Leone ever was. You guys making these comparison should read Stephen Prince comments on the subject. He was a film critic, historian and professor of cinema in USA. He said that Hollywood influence in Kurosawa is overplayed, the thing was always the the other way around. Japan was doing stuff in the 60s that were ahead of the curve and it took Hollywood years to catch up.
@@carlosluismendez7392 , in fact, taking it to recent affairs, a lot of today's Hollywood and streaming-platforms productions are taking a great amount of ideas from Japanese animation (Ghibli) and anime in general. Two examples: the forest god in Mononoke Hime and Snow White And The Huntsman, or the way of running in the air from Might Guy (fighting Uchiha Madara, Naruto) and Namor (fighting in Wakanda, Black Panther 2).
Awful comparison. Leone is a master of his craft, but he does not play in the same league as Kobayashi. He doesn’t even come close to the level of Kobayashi.
Kurosawa would had deserved to win even more academy awards and i repeat that stunning looking and talented mister tatsuya nakadai (as well his mAny asian colleagues)has never won an academy award
