Mhairi Calvey was born in Scotland and grew up on the Isle of Arran. At the age of 5 she made her acting debut playing the role of 'Young Murron' in Mel Gibson's film 'Braveheart', which went on to win five Oscars. Shortly after filming Mhairi returned to school and focused on her education. She later studied her BA (Hons) in Acting at the Guildford School of Acting. Mhairi has since played roles in feature films 'Fear the Invisible Man', 'The Eastern Front' and 'Robert the Bruce' for which she won Best Newcomer at The National Film Awards. Mhairi's TV credits include BBC drama 'Boat Story' directed by Jack and Harry Williams. Mhairi started production company Dream Reel Entertainment and she went on to direct, write and produce her debut short film 'Gaslight' about the effects of domestic abuse. James Robinson is a Scottish actor/producer born in Glasgow. Making his screen debut as the young William Wallace in Mel Gibson's Oscar-winning blockbuster, Braveheart, he has gone on to appear in Danny Boyle's highly acclaimed "Babylon" and Neil Jordan's historical epic "The Borgias" with Jeremy Irons and Gina McKee. He has guest-starred on BBC's "Doctors" and "Casualty", and as Greg Edgars in Sony/ Starz's "Outlander". Along with starring as Alexander Hamilton in "Washington" for the History Channel US and Icon Films, most recently he has wrapped in filming as the lead alongside Ashley Newbrough in seasonal romance "Saving Christmas Spirit" for Nicely Entertainment. Over the past decade, Robinson has appeared in numerous theatre productions such as National Theatre of Scotland's "In Time O' Strife", York Theatre Royal's "Brassed Off" and in The National Theatre's "Macbeth", directed by Rufus Norris. For radio, Robinson played the title role in Almost Tangible's 'Macbeth' (New York Radio Festival's Grand Prize Winner) for which he Won Audio Production Awards 'Audio Performer of the Year'. He also produced short film with Danny Szam 'To The Boats', directed by Michael Driscoll, which won awards across the circuit. In 2022 he featured in Barry Keoghan's directorial debut short film 'Animal' for international fashion brand Gucci.
This is the only scene in any movie I've ever seen that brings tears to my eyes. Everything about it, is perfect. The story, the filming, the emotion put into it, the music, the acting. And all without a word being spoken. They nailed it.
especially impressive from young children. Of course the cinematographer got amazing shots and the editor put them together in such a beautiful way. Great work from a team.
When word came out that James Horner had died in that small plane crash, the classical music station I listened to stopped their programming to announce his passing....they loved and honored his work that much. Horner is, to this day, one of my most beloved film composers, one of the very last of the greats....losing him was a monumental thing. It hurt, and it hurt deeply. But we still have his gorgeous music. It takes a special, very rare talent to compose great symphonic film music, and Mr Horner had that. Nobody writes film music like that any more. I don't think they can. But I have his work in my collection, with the other greats. God rest you for the beauty you created, dear Mr James Horner. I have never forgotten you. And I never will. ❤
Love this scene. Shows the love of someone who is trying to console one who has lost everything. She gave what she could but it was her heart she showed the most and her love. ❤️
2022 and still one of the most emotional and poignant scenes ever captured on film. The intro, showing the shallow breathing of Young Wiliam, speaks volumes of his loss and his grief-stricken heart. This movie .... forever a classic thanks to the gifts of Mel Gibson and James Horner. ❤

If a legend music crosses with a legend film , that will be an immortal masterpiece... i never forget this film's scenes and its musics. I cannot... Thanks.
This scene was one of the red letter moments from my youth where the pivotal role of film scoring registered so profoundly with me. In a medium where music often takes a back seat to visuals and dialog, it's exceptionally rare for a score to not only step up and take center stage, but to completely dominate a scene by reaching through the screen to tear the heart from your chest and stomp it into the ground without so much as a spoken word. The music did all the talking. Most films of this (or any) era rarely accomplish such a thing. But James Horner did. In a world of incredible film composers, he stood apart, and will be forever missed. 💔
Don't know why, whenever i watch this scene, i tear up and dollops of them. Am not known to be an emotional person but somehow this simple scene with the haunting score, just makes me cry. Every time! Sometimes this can be embarassing if i am with my kids :-)
This song is hands down one of the most touching pieces of music ever written. If I ever get married, I want this played as the bride walks down the aisle. It has a kind of pure love vibe, gives me the chills just imagining this scene
Scotland is not free. Scotland lost to England in The Battle of Pinkie Cleugh on September 10th, 1547. Scotland is the most northern part of The United Kingdom. You may as well call England "Englandistan." It doesn't appear to me that Scotland is incentivized enough to attempt to break free from the UK since their disastrous loss at Pinkie Cleugh.
What a truly beautiful moment between two souls trying to makes sense of their cicumstances! This melted my heart seeing it again after all these years. Humans can be such Divine and Wonderful creatures...or such evil and wretched devils...I'm sure we are enigmas in all of the universe...even to each other at times. But I want my life (and the world) to be that of Divinity from this moment on! Blessings and love to all my brothers and sisters around the world!
She nailed this scene, even more than he did. You can see how she's absolutely drawn to him but doesn't understand fully why. Masterful. What a director to pull that out of both of them so beautifully at such a young age.
The innocence of a child's gesture of emotional support and condolences paired with hauntingly beautiful music. Powerful and priceless. Thank you DayNnite 1243 . RIP James Horner.
This beautiful piece of music just shows how important the score is to a movie. It just adds so much to an already very emotional scene. James Horner was every bit the talent of John Williams and Hans Zimmer. RIP James Horner.
...And then years later when he hands it back to her after their horse ride, it takes her a couple seconds to realize what he gave her... beautifully acted and directed. Powerful evocative music... the language we all understand. Btw, This little actress grew up to look just like the woman who played her as an adult... great casting.
