September 2, 2019. the British Royal Navy's Ice Patrol ship called the HMS Protector sails through the calm waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The time is 11 PM. Some of the ship's crew are on deck, while others are sleeping in their cabins. The captain steers the ship and looks straight at the horizon. Suddenly, against this beautiful landscape, one of the sailors notices the black silhouette of an unknown ship. The captain slows down and steers the ship a little closer to the mysterious vessel.
This is an old cargo ship 250 feet long. Attempts to contact the crew members lead to nothing. It seems the unknown boat is floating in the ocean by itself. There’s no one on board. At least no one alive. British sailors don't dare to climb on that strange deck. They take a photo, post it on the Internet, and sail away. Many people on the Internet will assume the sailors met a real ghost ship. 5 months later, the same ship was seen in County Cork, Ireland - thousands of miles from this place...

Nothing personal but this frigate was on ice patrol using RADAR to plot iceberg conditions. Why didn't this show up on RADAR? Oh, because it did but the vid producer needed to make it sound very mysterious that a hijacked ship that was known to be abandoned after it ran out of fuel was still floating around. Not so mysterious. And why in the world would it make sounds like wood creaking? It was a steel ship, not wood. Big 'DUH' here....
Whoever makes these boats needs a huge promotion because they don't break even with no crew
Yet the titanic, built to be impregnable, tougher then most modern ships still to date, gets taken out by a random floating chunk of ice with no sharp edges or fixed position... Lol... Seems legit.
When it's build to be strong it breaks
When built not to be that stong it doesn't break for years with no crew
@@nondescript2134 pride sank the titanic. The ability of the crew to control the ship decreased substantially by the captains’ overall pride by bringing the ship to the US in record time.
@@itcshifter8114 there was also a coal fire burning weeks before the titanic left port. this is a known fact that the heat made the ships hull weak and when the iceberg struck the ship it was like a hot knife cutting through butter.
@@iloveblondy the ship was sinking before it even left harbour. That unchecked coal fire raging in the coal bunkers that was hidden from the people on board was the reason it sank. I don't believe the iceberg was solely responsible.

This is a remarkable story. This ship drifted abandoned for so long and was washed ashore in Ireland by a storm. It is amazing that she stayed afloat for so long. So sad that her voyage ended this way. I feel sorry that the MV Alta wasn’t saved, rather than ending up rusting on the rocks, having been looted and more recently set on fire. A very sad ending for this old lady of the sea.
It is not a she

No.
Not a royal navy ship, at least not without serious repurcussions. A drifting vessel is a tremendous danger to shipping, and if encountered in international waters, is usually sunk on the spot to prevent future collisions.

Love how the abandoned ship has glowing green light from the bridge windows lol.
And there's no "mystery" of how the ship followed the trade winds/ocean currents to drift north and end up in UK waters. There's a reason mariners used these currents for centuries and even today ships and aircraft use these sea/air currents to make their travels as efficient as possible and don't just beeline to and from destinations.
The fact it stayed afloat is impressive and certainly the odds were against it, but history is full of events that happened despite their outcomes being a remote possibility.
It ended up in Irish waters and ran aground in Ireland, its didn’t enter uk waters

The fact that people sink so many ships, and this one just floats around perfectly fine unmanned is pretty amazing lol.
It happens occasionally. Many modern ships don´t have much crew, and there are ways how all of them can go overboard. Also, modern ships need a lot of damage and quite some time to actually sink, so, yeah, that happens.

What is hard to believe, is that it was seen by a navy ship, that noticed the lack of crew, running lights and propulsion. AND they just sailed away, said nothing to no one or reported it to the nearest country/islands authorities at all! Sounds like a lovely, but fictitious story for the more gullible people on here to take as the truth!

I find it difficult to believe that the entire naval crew were so superstitious as to not set foot on the abandoned Tanker out of sheer curiosity alone and to recover any possible log book - that may have revealed details about the ship - because they were - scared of Ghosts? That's the unbelievable part - the rest of the ship' journeying to and fro across the oceans is probably not that unusual for an abandoned ship and is probably quite normal - with no crew to guide it and no operational tracking system to track it.
I daresay whoever found it adrift may have used it for a time for smuggling purposes and hence the desire of the hijackers of an abandoned ship - which would be a windfall situation, i.e. a free ship to smuggle stuff in - not leaving the tracking system on for any extended lengths of time - IF it was still operational when they took illegal possession of that tanker - for perhaps - unknown but likely, nefarious purposes. ;)

It's not "a mystery" how it travelled from the Bermuda triangle to Ireland! It's called the Gulf Stream. An ocean current that flows from the gulf of Mexico all the way to Cornwall & Ireland. The ship drifted on it.

How did this get from the mid-Atlantic to Ireland? Did nobody ever hear about the North Atlantic circulator - the most famous portion being the Gulf Stream? It was just a matter of time for it to, at least, pass by Ireland. That it crashed into Ireland following a storm is just to be expected.
How it got to Ireland is no mystery if you look up ocean currents. The derelict ship got caught in the Gulf Stream, which heads across the Atlantic straight towards Ireland.

This would be the MV Alta, abandoned by her crew of 10 in October, 2018, when en route from Greece to Haiti. Her engines failed, and the crew were picked up by the USCG. She appears subsequently to have been towed to Guyana, but was abandoned for a second time. Protector subsequently enountered her, after which she peacefully drifted across the Atlantic, arriving near Ballycotton, Cork, at the time of Storm Dennis, in February 2020. By October, 2020, the hull had deteriorated badly, and in March 2022 it was reported that she had broken in two.
No mystery here. Hardly Mary Celeste. Although the survival of an abandoned ship for 18 months or so is unusual.
