  • I set up this spot to help visualize how to use structure near a bait pile or feeder. While I do not need this pile of corn in this location with the food I have, it is a great way to show everyone how this simple trick can help get a better shot and keep from spooking deer. Hope you enjoy!

Great video. I was the one that submitted the question about the 750 scrapes i wasn't exaggerating. We worked 14 hours that day to get them all in, we didnt put scent on any of the them. We tied the leaves together brought them down to the right height and then used a weed wacker to get it to the bare dirt. It is a 300 acre property. Here is why we did it, we try to get a buck to stay on the property as long as we can. Scrapes give them more time to do this. I have seen the bucks work one of the scrape lines i have made for an hour straight and mature bucks too not just the 3 year olds. Multiple times. We only put the scrapes by our treestands or just a little bit away from them. That's just what ive seen im not trying to sound like a know it all, thanks.

That’s the most absurd methods I’ve heard in 40 years of hunting white tails ! Why not spend your time w plots ? Or TSI?

Good tips. Most important thing about deer not facing you is it’s easier to evaluate the total scrotal length and decide if your deain with the “King” buck or not. Good luck!!

Excellent video, an apple, pear persimmon, a particular oak tree, corn field, soybean field all essentially bait piles, you do you Terry don't worry about the haters, we hunt a wary game, love the venison provided, my grandkids also have more opportunities instead of freezing to death seeing nothing as when I was a kid. -William Liggett

Congrats to Brandon on a great buck. Is he not happy about harvesting that deer....he can't even smile. That is something that I just don't understand. They get to enjoy Mother Nature and harvest a great buck and then they don't even look like they enjoy it. Anyways, great video Terry....appreciate your efforts on putting these videos together.

I think it is easy to assume and criticize people of not smiling. don has received some of that in the past. i have problem smiling as i am very self conscious of it. everyone has different facial emotions. I assure you he was as happy as a guy can be. thanks for watching.

People that knock bait hunting saying it's too easy don't know what they're talking about. Deer coming in to bait are on edge always. A mouse fart will send them running away. Never had a ton of luck with mature bucks but great way to harvest does or get new hunters to see deer.

no - i think it would do the same thing but hate cutting down on consumption. if you were creating a shot to a feeder it would be something to try

Im with you, I don't like hunting directly over bait pile for the reasons you stated. How far do you hunt away from bait pile and do have problems with the deer coming to bait pile in different directions from the trail you are sitting on?

Are bait piles still a big factor even if there’s standing corn right next to it?and will deer hit corn fields or corn piles over white and red oak acorns when they start dropping?

Only bad ass hunters hunt over a pile of corn ,gotta be real proud of your self shooting them over bait. I bet you don’t go bragging to everybody you shot them over bait pile. Yes I been bow hunting for 40 + years and proud of every deer I’ve shot. Ya right away he wants to say all you haters,ya your right you guys hunt the easy way over bait.you guys are not real hunters. Every big buck that’s shot should say killed over bait pile ,or actually you could say food plots to. You baiters are going to f it up for use real hunters. A baiter with Sunday night prayer .
