I'm surprised that so few are able to recognize the impact this truck will have. It was refreshing to see someone capable of highlighting the revolutionary production advancements for the rest of us.

Thank you very much John for the in-depth review of the Cybertruck-the first for me. What's even amazing is the 48V DC system in also reducing cost and increasing efficiency. Honestly, I really don't think most people have a clue of what Tesla is doing along with the paradigm shift that's happening in the EV world. It's huge and I'm already seeing the impact.

Agree other than to say the paradigm shift is universal to automotive. It is just that the companies that have working lines are not going to scrap them any time soon. New lines will be built the new way because they can build cars for less.

The infrastructure of any viable country will not support an ev population.. the us and other over populated countries all try to scare everybody saying the need for renewable energy and how fossil fuels are on their way to depletion all around the world then suddenly focus everybody’s attention on various nonsensical racial and sexual crap while creating the charging areas for the ev’s and creating laws stating of the mandated manufacture and selling of only ev’s and keeping it on the hush hush on how much more energy its taking to charge these cars and create all the new charging stations..

Thanks, for the video; " the competition has a long way to go to catch up", and you were comparing to the Polestar, a GEELY brand , one of the most advanced and forward thinking of the Chinese auto manufacturers, the legacy auto are not even in site, or the rear view mirror.

Ford has a gigaPress in their R&D lab. GM purchased TEI a company that is more or less used to rapid prototype cast parts. 3D prints sand molds. Not suitable for mass production.

I’m hoping one day for a Cyberwagon. I wonder if one day all Teslas will have an unpainted angular look.
Be careful around those castings, they can have sharp edges. Caresoft uses PPF.

They still have a pretreatment & ecoat process for rust proofing the cab, battery enclosure and front/rear giga castings. They also powder coat the A, B & C pillars and door sills. The ovens for ecoating and powder coating still are needed. Basically there is 1/3 of a paint shop still needed.

Why would they need any treatments on the aluminum castings ? I thought they are hidden and natural aluminum oxide provides all the protection it needs.

I’d love to know how adjustable that cantrail is. Some of us have a small gap on the back alignment passenger side and I suspect the SC tells you it’s within spec.
Even if your tailgate is out 1-2mm how to get it lined up.

Awesome video! The CT is an amazing video!! People are inherently prejudice and can’t see beyond their judgement! People are also loyal and can’t see that others can have a better product than their choice!😊

Thanks for showing the cantrail trim mounting. When you wrap this truck, will you film the disassembly of the cantrail? I'm planning to wrap my truck as well and want to remove it for easier vinyl access

A lot of Elon haters and people who find the polygon stainless skin pickup truck polarizing, I think would appreciate the CT if they understood the revolutionary technical aspects under the skin and how well it drives.

I'm curious about what John sees/feels to determine that the Cybertruck castings are "higher quality" than that of the others, like the Polestar. Apart from its massive difference in size, I don't think it is immediately apparent from this video how else it is so.

The Aluminium casting is precise because the casting mould was manufactured in Europe. When is the reality going to register, that Tesla has no interest in these vehicles being repaired, Musk has openly stated that their vision is not private ownership but a disposable consumable approach, you will book a vehicle, it will be made available and then passed to other users and at the end of the vehicles life cycle (by redundancy or collision) will be re processed. That’s why no source codes or access to non authorised repairers of parts not covered by right to repair legislation. Tesla envision a world with out, out of house repairers. That is the future!

what is the point of cheap manufacturing if they cant sell outside the us and thus have such low sales that they cancel the singlemotor variant

What is the purpose of the Cybertruck? Did engineers and designers start by trying to design the best electric truck possible or did they start with a Cybertruck concept and then figure out how to make it a reality? It took a long time for the Cybertruck to come out and my impression is that’s in part because they designed a vehicle that was hard to manufacture. It’s an achievement but was it worth it?

  • @mini2nut67

The Cybertruck uses a combination of 48v and 12v electrical architecture. My guess is that the goal was for every electrical load to be 48v but the electrical engineers had to “put the pencils down” because Tesla had to get the truck to market.

  • @mini2nut67

I predict that Tesla will spin off a “Cyber” line of vehicles in the future. A Cybervan and CyberTaxi would be no brainers. They have seen the immense cost savings by eliminating a traditional paint shop.
