De. Greger seems to really want to get the word out on what actually helps to improve health and well- being even if it doesn’t make him a profit. Talk about a breath of fresh air! He is a national treasure! Dr. Greger is doing what our public health agencies, the media, and schools should be doing-giving us what we can do to live truly healthier lives without going bankrupt on overpriced meds and medical procedures! God bless him!
Amen! I love him!
Devoted his life to this information as a tribute to Nathan Pritkin helping his grandmother live a long life
@@fracritel what do you mean exactly? Did you read a story about him somewhere of what drives him?
@@Brandovibe You can read his book "How not to die", where he mentions exactly the motivation described by Frank.
Yes, there are a few doctors and organizations that do this, a blessing to us, and the future of taking back our health.
This doc should really be the Surgeon General. I have practiced for 20 years, and since I have followed him 4 years ago, I have realized where Western Medicine is failing society. He is truly as altruistic as he says. I donate to him to keep him going. You gotta watch is short videos every day, there are hundreds (thousands) and his really old ones before he became polished are AWESOME too.
Hello there. Greetings from upstate NY! Just wanted to share. To add to what you are saying. Medical professionals themselves are not familiar with plant-based food as medicine approach. Sadly, my husband’s friend, Emergency Room Doctor learned about it after heart attack of his own.
Spread the word, and change the lives of your patients

I agree. Why isn’t Dr. Greger on more network TV?

Thanks Michael, what you do is SOOOO appreciated !

To those newbies just starting to reduce meat, eggs, dairy, oils, and sugars in their diet: you can often keep the hot sauce! Most are vinegar based and free of oils and sugars (check the ingredients).
The only problem with the hot sauces is that they have a lot of salt content. One way of getting around that is to use red pepper flakes as your hot sauce, no calories, no salt, plenty hot ha ha.
And Canola Oil is poison crap
I had developed gout in my right big toe and after research started adding 5 tbls of apple cider vinegar a day to my fluid intake. No other changes. The gout was gone way short of a week and a year later has never returned. I have kept up with the ACV.
Gout is the worst. Since going Whole Food plant based I haven’t had one flare up
Also add cherries daily to your diet, any way you can get them, to prevent and treat Gout.
I get gout several times a year and WOW does it hurt!!! It feels like a knife jabbed into the side of your foot... I've started taking vinegar several times a day so hopefully that will help. I've also been staying very well hydrated and I believe that is helping as well... I've been losing rate fairly quickly lately and I usually get a gout flare up when I do... but so far (several months in) I haven't!
I'm definitely adding vinegar to my daily diet; tried a while ago and just began forgetting. Now it will be in plain sight! Thank you!
How is it going? Did you lose weight?
How much vinegar do you take on a daily basis?
I also am making it a routine to have 1T vinegar (plain vinegar!) in a little glass of water with lunch and dinner. I feel better when I do, the body seems to have started to crave it with the meal, a pick me up and refresher! (like it knows what's good for it!) I recently hear a doctor who's a research scientist say some of the same things about vinegar. 1T low dose, 2 T high dose!
I love this guy. I've learned so much from him since I went almost totally vegan (prob. 98%) 10 years ago.
Very interesting. I am using organic apple cider every day, for years now, and I feel fine at 82.
How are you using the apple cider vinegar? I want to start but eat an oil free diet so not sure what to use it on.
@@happycook6737 cup of water to be chugged in 5 seconds, boom done
@@amir3515 Thanks, will try.
@@happycook6737 Use vinegar for pickling if you do that, you can also use it in your cooking to add freshness to sauces and things. Toss popcorn in it etc, loads of uses.
@@happycook6737 You can use it on salads - without the oil - as dressing (though probably not a tablespoon per salad serving, kinda strong; just dilute with water or maybe a fruit juice, consider as incremental dose). Salads / green leafy veg are important. Apple cider vinegar or balsamic vinegars.
Thank you for doing the hard work and disseminating this information!
Exceptional health content. I have got both of your books: How not to die and How not to diet. Brilliant books. They saved me. Thank you !
Love how educational this channel is. I’ve learned so much and now teach my kids about nutrition.
A tablespoon of vinegar on your salad? I put 4-6 tablespoons. My salad is huge but also I love vinegar.
Me too! I love all kinds too, apple cider, rice wine (mirin), balsamic, sherry! These are just the ones I have in my pantry!
How do you not burn your throat?
@@Uchoobdood How do you not burn your throat?
I’ve heard and read about vinegar helping diabetics, but it was so breathtakingly gross I couldn’t do it, lately I hit a wall trying to control my blood sugar and reconsidered. I use balsamic and black vinegar. A little pricey but quite mild and tasty. And very effective in my diabetic diet. I wish I had known about “other”vinegars sooner.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and research. 👍👍👍
Dr Greger first of all thank you for yr work & yr books . I just recently bought the new How Not To Die cookbook & How Not To Die book . I am 73 , went vegan 3 yrs ago . Have lost 60 # . I have been drinking a glass of water w ACV right after supper for abt 6 yrs . I cld immediately seenthe difference in my BP. I use 2 T of vinegar . The past few months I have been using Balsamic vinegar on my kale & all greens . My annual bloodwork is outstanding ...my Dr says it is that of an extremely healthy 50 yr old woman . I am a 2x cancer survivor w cardiovascular disease . Thank you soo much .
I love your work! I was wondering, is there any decrease in benefit with using vinegar while cooking? Does heating or boiling it diminish the beneficial effects of acetic acid?
My cousin used to have a secret vinegar addiction.
She'd finish work, rush home, drop by a store on the way, buy a jar of pickles, get home, throw away the pickles and drink the vinegar!! She did this for years without telling anyone 🤪
I consume nearly a gallon of apple cider vinegar a month, have done this for years. I put it in or on everything. Alas, I finally damaged my esophagus in my old age and was told to stop the vinegar. Might as well as told me to quit smoking (I do not smoke). I have had a problem with hypoglycemia since childhood and I think that may have been the driver. The stuff definitely makes me feel good. However, I am a still a fat vegan.
@@elizabethfletcher1487 well I've switched from a salad dressing to a balsamic vinegar, had it every day with my salad since whatever the date was of the above video, I'm still waiting for the pounds to fall off from round my belly though. A friend has warned me to be aware of the vinegar effect on my teeth as (being British) I have already suffered enamel loss on many teeth, so I give my mouth a good rinse after each salad!!
@@johnAsanz Well, you can't just consume 2500+ cal a day and expect that vinegar would solve everything. I can recommend Dr. Gregors "How not do diet" on amazon or audible. It really clarifies the whole dieting situation and helped me a lot. I got several extra pounds during stupid lockdown since november here in germany. Before that I was totally shredded in the summer. I am now close to be absolutely ripped again. And live's still a breeze with the knowledge the book provides you with.
@@andreashnida5661 I read it. I keep my daily caloric intake to about 1300 cal/day eating just plants, no oil, no flour, and I work like a miner's mule, feel like i am starving to death, and am still fat...
If she was doing this with anything other than dill pickles, she was also getting a powerful hit of sugar or high fructose corn syrup.
Thanks Dr Greger! You are awesome 🙂
Thanks for sharing this information ,excellent work thanks.
God bless you, Dr. Greger. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, to help people like me. :)
as far as salads go the Greeks traditionally use white vinegar , lemon and olive oil as a dressing . Tastes yummy too ☺️ after steaming / par boiling spinach or cauliflower they add olive oil and lemon as well
Was just thinking the same thing Louis. Grew up with apple cider vinegar and olive oil on the dinner table every night to use as dressing on the obligatory salad - also on the table every night. Lemon was on everything!
But olive oil and any other oil gunk up your blood circulation and add nothing to nutrition, therefore are not part of WFPBNoSOS (salt oil sugar). My hurdles are salt and sugar, oil is no loss to me.
Thank you for another rinformative video! I look for them every day!
Thank you 🎉for all the work you do ! ❤
Dr. Gregor, Thank you so much for this (and all) videos!! Would this also apply to white balsamic vinegar?
Great video best i heard on helping your own health. Thanks
This is cool, I love vinegar, sprinkle it on almost everything savoury.
Thanks Dr. Greger for introducing me to vinegar (which I used to HATE the taste of but now really enjoy it)... It's really helped me increase my greens intake without all the fat and calories of salad dressing... I just spinking a couple of teaspoons on my salad, shake some potassium choloride on it (which I've been growing to like just as much as salt which, thanks again to you, I've significantly reduced!) and it tastes wonderful!!!
There's so many delicious dark inegars out there. I drizzle fruity, thick, aged vinegars directly on a salad. No oil. Also great with chopped garlic. Add some walnuts, grapes and apple. yummm!
Thanks, I love vinegar, I was always worried about having too much. I feel I can indulge now.
I'll see if I can pick up another bottle of vinegar tomorow, not that I need to lose weight though! Thanks for the tip, doc!
I am going to try this. I like vinegar and I love this topic! Thank you.
I sure will!
Loved this all over again. Thank you 💚
Thanks Dr Greger, i don't know what i would do without your videos, since there are so many conflicting information out there. May Jehovah bless you dearly for all your wonderful work. Thank You so much for Your Love of Life and of the TRUTH!!!
I’ve been following him five years and counting. I recently started putting vinegar (2)tspn on my 1 cup of brown rice. It doesn’t matter what I’m eating eating with the brown rice.. it gives it a nice tangy taste😋
Thank You, Vin will take a greatet place on the table now
I have been doing this and finally loosening weight, and I friggin love my vinegar added to drinks, I now think I’m a dI Ted it’s yummy and thirst quenching. In victorian times a sweetened vinegar drink use to be enjoyed in summer because lemons for lemon side was harder to come by. The idea that vinegar doesn’t make a great drink is seriously off!
Whoa, there's peach vinegar and pomegranate vinegar? I have got to get some.
My favorites are peach, pear, and mango. I also have black currant and a chocolate orange one that I haven't even tried yet. Yum!
chiyerano. I am absolutely obsessed with the peach white balsamic vinegar from Rocky Mountain Olive Company it's actually sweet and pours like a syrup. It is a little pricey for me, but it's been a game changer for making all kinds of vegetables tasty. I've just got some new bottles like pear/cinnamon ect.
Strawberry vinegar exists too, so nice!
California Balsamic has some excellent balsamic's also!
Hi Dr. Gregor, could you do a video on citruline or citruline malate?
This is anecdotal but when I started adding 2tbsp of apple cider vinegar mixed with seltzer to my post breakfast and dinner meals, I noticed with that one change in my diet my acne cleared up alot. It was very odd. Going vegan had already made a big difference but this just took it over the fence. Hope some day someone does a study.
I have been vegan 1.5 years and it dropped by lipids nearly by half within a few months when tested. I started using apple cider vinegar externally on my face for adult acne a few weeks ago and it's the very best of any medication I've ever used. It even seems to be slowly removing dark spots! I aim to include it in my daily diet now, too.
@@medicareworkbooks7702 may I ask what your routine is using the apple cider vinegar? Do you use it like a toner? Or cleanser? Thank you for any advice you can share!
@@vanislegirl81 im assuming hes just drinking it mixing it with seltzer wich is a sparkling drink
Check out Markus Rothkranz RUclips channel called ‘The Healthy Life’. Put in Apple Cider vinegar in the search.
Yeast, mold, fungus etc in our gut (the bad bacteria), thrive on sugar and sweet things. An overgrowth of yeast/fungus/mold produce acne as a symptom (Malassezia Folliculitis aka Fungal Acne). Apple Cider Vinegar does the OPPOSITE of sugar & sweet things. It feeds the GOOD bacteria, preventing an overgrowth of the bad bacteria.
Keep it as a daily medicinal drink and a toner for the face after washing, and you should see great results over time 👍🏽
@@vanislegirl81 I know that if I would try this, I would dilute it with water and see how my skin responds. On dark spots maybe stronger or even the full strength but rinse it after a couple of seconds. I imagine your skin will feel very sensitive afterwards and you’ll need to protect it from the sun.
Thank you for your question, I am also going to try this on my arms. I know I heard Mariah Carey said she bathes in water with milk for the benefits of skin sloughing from the lactic acid (true???) but being vegetarian I couldn’t do that.
How about a really diluted acv and water spray followed with aloe Vera? Sorry I digress but I’m going to be turning 60 on my next birthday so it’s becoming important. Lol
All the best to you.
I make a salad dressing with balsamic vinegar, sriracha, lime juice, and nutritional yeast. It really makes the greens palatable.
Amazing 🤩
Subscribed! Thank you doctor!❤
I have accumulated a huge collection of exoctic vinegar since starting my journey with Dr. Greger. I had no idea vinegar could be sooo good. My favorite breakfast is a huge salad with most of the suggested greens, fruits, veggies, nuts, and seeds from Dr. Greger's Daily Dozen doused with my special garlic vinaigrette. 🤩
Would you mind sharing your garlic vinaigrette recipe, please? I love garlic and vinegar!
What time do u serve bkfast 😋
Thanks!
Dear Dr. Greger, How do you recommend one consume any particular kind of popular vinegar (apple cider, plain, balsamic, malt, etc.) if one has been diagnosed with GERD (acid reflux)?
Loveee this!!! 🤩
Gracias por compartir 🙏 bendiciones para todos 🤗
How not to day is seriously one of the best books I've ever read. I highly recommend it
you are the best
I put 2 table spoons of apple cider vinegar plus the juice of half a lemon in a big glass hot water. This is first drink of the day.
I do lemon and tart cherry juice mixed into water, first thing every day. I will now add vinegar.
ACV helps me eliminate that bloated feeling. Also, if you can't eliminate suffering from so-called Acid Reflux by taking antacids, try ACV instead. Keep your body's pH at 7.4.
How do you take the vinegar to control acid reflux?
Add a tablespoon full to a cup of water.@@Westernwilson

I had balsamic vinegar in my breakfast mix this morning--as I do every morning.
Wade, thanks for joining me in voicing concern about audio level. You probably have read my comments.

Very interesting - I'm really enjoying these videos. Does lemon juice have a similar behaviour to vinegar?
Not really. Lemon juice has acidity as does vinegar but it's a juice straight outta the fruit of the tree. Vinegar is a product of fermentation (of sweet fruit of the tree). The microbes make it for us, and my guess is that has everything to do with it being beneficial.
Yes, that makes sense...re the fermentation.
Love this great doctor. He should research the medical profession.
Awesome
Does it matter if it is filtered/unfiltered/raw/with Mother? Or is there any evidence to show that there's any difference between any of the ACV?
Very good information in this interesting video......watch it !!!!!
I was afraid vinager would be to strong for my microbiome. I stopped for 6 months but I'm gonna add it back in to my diet
Thanks for this great information! You’re the man, Dr. Greger!👍🏼
Are ACV capsules as good as the plain liquid ACV?
Hello Dr Gregger!
Question....is there any problems with using Vinegar..like..esophagus burning.?.or increase in Reflux incidents?..or Tooth Enamel issues?
oh, yes. I love the stuff and I did burn my esophagus. be careful with the stuff.
I am floored about the EVOO! I thought it was good for you!
Shocking isnt it when u first hear EVOO is bad? Read up on Dr Barnard and Dr McDougalls opinions on ALL oils. itll blow your mind. it did mine. when i read that we do NOT need ANY OILS at all, and that its the most calorie dense "food" on the planet, and one that is at least partially responsible for all the diabetes today!
When I first started to get healthier I tried the - 2Tbs a day - thing I had been seeing on line. It worked I did it for 30 days, changed nothing else, and lost INCHES! I took mine in the morning before anything else.
Which vinegar, straight up or with water?
@@Joseph1NJ Apple Cider, straight, followed by a small glass of water.
@@jennielyra3694 thx 4 the reply
big fan like all the comments. What should be the daily dosage of vinegar? 2 tbs?
I pour in about 3 tablespoons of ACV to my smoothies. If I consume over the span of a couple hours, is the consumption of the vinegar still effective?
I like now and then mixing balsamic vinegar and olive oil like the Italians do. With pasta really good and I put a salad on the plate before I cover it with pasta whammy.
I’ve been taking about 4 oz vinegar a day for over three years. I drink it over the course of about 12 hours.
And what are the results?
How much would be too much? I’m really enjoying my icy vinegar water. Currently consuming about 9 tablespoons a day and loving it
What all is in your Icy water??
If you are not having vinegar with your meal, is it better to have it before or after? Thanks
My no.1 goto MD.❤️ On line..
So how many pounds did the one table spoon of vinegar lose? I heard two tablespoons was five pounds in two weeks, but nothing about the one tablespoon group. Later you said both lost an inch or so with the scan, but still curious how much weight was lost. It equaled the two tablespoon dose exactly or was less?
So, is it better to take apple cider vinegar in the morning before eating? Or after eating?
Does or can soy sauce have the same effect as balsamic vinegar? Japanese seem to use it a lot.
When is best to have the vinegar? right now I do it with my main meal
Dear Dr. Greger, Is it ok for people who suffer from Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) to drink apple cider vinegar drinks or to consumer balsamic vinegar?
good question!
I would guess no. The acid can further damage the esophagus, causing a precancerous condition called barrett's esophagus.
@BenBenson What about taking apple cider vinegar in capsule form?
Am delighted to learn the value of balsamic vinegar, especially in effectively countering post-meal glucose spikes. A vitamin company which promotes the value of drugs on an equal basis with food suggests using the drug Metformin to counter the spikes, a generic oral diabetes drug.
White distilled vinegar???
Is that what we should be adding/drinking?
This is good news for me although I’ve been eating vinegar for years and I still have a wobbly belly LOL, i’m sure I consume too much vinegar I have at least a litre a week I know thats excessive but I love the stuff
what?? how is that even physically possible?
@@kongkarry yes I know it is excessive, I put it on absolutely everything apart from breakfast, i’ve always been a vinegar freak even as a young child i used to mix salt and vinegar in a glass and drink it, I am amazed that I don’t have stomach problems lol

Does lemon juice have the same benefits as vinegar? I drink about 12 ounces of lemon water when I first get up.
Luv your content BUT doc, "lachs fish" as you mentioned it, is Salmon in German....home come an oily fish raise blood sugar fast? 🤔 💭
Any info on apple cider vinegar, onion juice, potato or tomato applied directly to the scalp to prevent or reverse hair loss? I've been using a natural concoction for a few months, but I have not seen any favorable results. I believe it might be a lost cause =/
I hope Worcestershire sauce is as good. I like to take a shot of that straight from the bottle sometimes.
Why would you think it's as good? It's too salty.
Unless it's vegan, it contains fish.
Too much salt and sugar, and not vegan
It will certainly improve the quality of life
Is this only what vinegar does? or can sour fruits also do the same thing? Like kiwis, soursop, pineapples, grapefruits.
What is the best vinegar to drink?
i love salads and pickled vegetables but can only eat them occasionally as my enamel is very thin and my teeth get very sensitive after an acidic meal (even after an apple!). Any suggestions on how to incorporate more vinegar without sacrificing my teeth?
Try immediately rinsing your mouth with clear water after your meal. Wait at least 30 minutes b4 brushing your teeth. I have the same issue!
Do you consume the vinegar before or after the meal for the benefits?
Hi, @Schpliffy! As mentioned in the podcast, vinegar can be sprinkled on greens, which can also help artery function, or a tablespoon of vinegar in a glass of water can be taken before meals. Don't drink straight vinegar, because it can irritate the lining of the esophagus. You can find everything on our site related to vinegar here: nutritionfacts.org/topics/vinegar/
I hope that helps!

Vinegar and salt kettle chips FTW! 🤔🙄
Can a person (vegan) consume too much ACV? I love it and throughout the day probably use 6-8 Tbls on salad, veggies, kidney beans, etc.
8 tbls is about 120cc or 1/4 of a pint. It sounds like WAY too much. What are you doing, some kind of raw food diet and trying to make up for the lack of flavor in it by stimulating your tastebuds by using oil & vinegar?
Anyone from Britain should use Willy's apple cider vinegar. The best I've ever used, and the only one where I actually noticed a difference. I used to use Bragg's, but nothing, I used Aspall's, again nothing, but with Willy's my gut settled down, and I feel so much more energized.
The Problem with Bragg's I learned, is that when exported, the American authorities irradiate it. Basically like putting it in a microwave for a few seconds, so that's probably why it doesn't work, the good bacteria will die. Plus, Willy's use a dark brown glass bottle, to further protect the bacteria, no plastic junk which the ACV will leech and you'll consume.
Thank you from Saudi Arabia 😊 good information for me thank you again and really it is happening same with me amircain not works
Bring on balsamic!!!
It's interesting how vinegar and lemon cuts through grease.. I assume when eaten it does the same inside the body.. It seems to mitigate the damaging effects of fats by dissolving them and breaking them down..
Sorry, but I don't think that's true physiologically. The HCL in your stomach is far more acidic than vinegar.
