I for one really don't worry about the overly aggressive nature they keep giving all the ceratopsians because it's all just player behavior at the end of the day. The devs can draw Trikes killing Tenos all they want but in the end it is the player that chooses whether they want to do that or not. As it is the case with every dinosaur ever added to the game, some people will choose to play it really agro, some really friendly and some in-between. The amount of influence the devs have on player behavior is very minimal, at best they can make ceratopsians and other herbivores share some of the same diet plants to create competition, but that's still not gonna convince every single player to play ceratopsians like they're playing a Doom game. No matter what the concept shows, I fully expect to see herds of ceratopsians mixing with all kinds of other herbivores just like it's always been, while others will choose to be aggressive and turn everything that breathes in their direction into a stain on the floor. It's the choice of the players.

As a person who have a backyard farm, I can admit that some animals are agressive problably just for being agressive. I've had a male guineafowl who attacked almost everything on the move (except other birds he was raised with). No matter if he was with his females or alone, he started attacking as soon as you turned your back to him. It actually isn't as unrealistic for an animal to attack everything on sight, especially in the mating season.

Yea, anyone who has grown up around animals knows herbivores are usually MORE aggressive than carnivores. Our wildlife facility had zebras and warthog’s, rhinos etc… zebras will randomly just literally kick the shit out of everything for no reason. Literally knocking other animals unconscious or sometimes killing them. Rhinos will charge almost anything if they feel like you’re in their way.
Bison, too. So the weird idea aggressive trikes isn’t real or accurate seems goofy to me. I can almost guarantee real trikes would’ve been quite aggressive and territorial and would have no doubt outright killed many other herbivores in their time on earth. Because large herbivores alive today do exactly that. Elephants will literally stomp buffalo to death for no reason.

@@nikolasdemoulin8093 You are 100% right. I have never seen such agression from chicken, which are omnivores. But guineafowl and geese? They are herbivorous, but I have seen many more animals killed by their rage than I have ever seen killed by any carnivore. A guineafowl even killed a pigeon that landed in the enclosure to drink water. Hebrivores are much more agressive than carnivores, I don't exactly know why but think it's because of their instinctical knowledge that they can be attacked by predator everytime.

In reality, just because the concept shows it does not mean you have to use that as law when YOU play trike, right? There isn’t going to be some kind of bloodlust mechanic that forces you to wound one herbivore per in game day.
Most likely herbie aggression will come for food and scarcity. If they go with droughts like the mention there is a chance that food can be limited at times and you might have to be aggro to ensure you and yours survive.

A player trike may not chose to behave overly aggressive and could choose to be a more gentle giant! I think they wasted time showing trike being aggressive when that just boils down to how the player wants to act and behave! And instead they should’ve shown us literally anything else. Like maybe what if a trike loses a horn for example!

honestly i think its good that they showed triceratops killing another herbivore. Hopefully people can now understand that all herbivores doesnt team up. Like it is now in the game it is like the majority of the playerbase think that all herbivore should team up with other herbivore species. Just an example: if your a carno fighting a teno, you almost killed the teno but it survived because of a stupid stego player felt entitled to help the teno because it is a herbivore. this have happend to me many times and are always annoying. sure, if it is another teno that comes to the rescue it isnt that annoying since they are the same specie. But whats annoying is that people treats the herbivores as its own faction like all herbivores are a team against all carnivores who dont have this faction thing. I think there should be more competition against herbivores too. But sadly, when you kill a herbivore as a herbivore people get mad for some uknown reason

  • @donzaibanzai7746
    @donzaibanzai7746 Год назад +8

Hmmmmm, the concept with the dibble looks more like a possible sparring showing maybe the ability toss your opponent during the spar and showcasing they can spar with other ceratopsian besides trike.
It impaling the tenonto also could indicate Teno being a possible food competitor and not a possible herb mate. Also, Teno is the only one of the concepts that indicate trike attacking another herb, the other two could just be the sparring mechanic that we heard of but overall I think creating a conflict between herbs is a good thing to break up mega herds.
I think in the end though it’s just concept art showing the destructive power it wields. I’m not sure what mechanic could force you to be over aggro to another herb as a player controlling a ceratopsian. The only thing I can think would be territory and food. Protecting the food you have so your herd mates thrive from other herbivores wanting the same food source.
    Another good video!

    unh
    I don't know
I think trike being aggressive is good, and if you think about the other ceratopsians, it makes sense.
    -Proto, not aggressive
-Ava is supposed to be a ceratosidian boar, so it makes sense that it's aggressive
-Diablo, I don't think a guy named Dinosaur Devil would be a nice guy
-The Trike stereotype has always been that they are territorial
I think we need to see what they do with pachy and styraco to judge whether they overcome the aggressive stereotype. for these two, I would personally make them like this:
    -pachyrrino: the anti-hero dinosaur
they would have a mean face and look like a bad boy and at first others would fear them, and they are very aggressive....
    but....
only against carnivores, to the point of indirectly defending other herbivores, so they would really make a good addition to a herd
-Styraco: the good dinosaur: they are the usual friendly dinosaurs, like Pará, they are sociable, they like to walk with other herbs and prefer to flee than to fight against predators. I think it makes sense, because looking at the design of the stiletto he's not such a good fighter, his single horn is too big and thin to be useful in a fight without breaking it, and it's not positioned in a good place to use it effectively, and would be more used for display

Dondi said something on live stream ages ago that they wanted the Rex to be able to grab around the neck of lets say a trike, when the trike runs out of stamina. The Rex will automatically kill it. Not sure if they still gonna use that idea or have changed it. But we all know they are gonna be able to grab their prey with their mouth.

I do t know why everyone in the comment section is hating on trike so much, it’s realistic that trike and the other ceratopsians would be so hyper aggressive despite being herbivores. Kangaroos rhinos and hell even elephants, iguanas, and even moose and water buffalo are hyper aggressive due to being in stressful life or death environments it’s gotten to the point where it’s in their blood to fear and hate everything that lives even each other sometimes. Me personally gameplay like that sounds fun as hell , and especially so since it’s coming in 3 different sizes. Diablo mid tier Ava small tier and trike being the heavy weight.
The devs are giving us a chance to play like this in every size category for the Dino’s , personally it sounds like they really are trying hard and putting a lot of thought into what their doing.

I feel like all these ceratopsians having the same over-aggressive approach to everything will be detrimental for a specific reason among many, they'll likely be targeted.
If all they're going to do is be assholes to every other creature on the island, just picking fights is going to likely warrant an equal or even superior amount of backlash from the other creatures on the island. Triceratops is likely going to be the least affected by this but I can see them having to constantly defend themselves from mid tier and apexes alike on a near constant basis, but Dibble? There is plenty of things that can kill a Dibble effectively, and if they ever intend to make Ava playable (unless I'm mistaken and it will be AI and playable), that population is going to be constantly murdered by nearly every carnivore on the island...
I could be wrong about all this but the Devs in my opinion are setting this family up to be the punching bag of the island, whether they can deal with it or not.

Realistically, I do consider trikes as probably reflecting pretty heavily on a LOT of massive herbivores irl and being incredibly aggressive toward herbivores at least. But the extremes which Isle takes it I will say is just stupid imo. Ceratopsians in general I don't see as outright aggressive, so as mentioned it subtracts from things like diablo or ava, which I feel would be more laid back/peaceful with other herbivores and diablo I really just see as being very passive until provoked around carnivores that are of similar size when not with offspring to protect. Trike is really the only one I can see as being extremely aggressive, but as I said, more so toward carnivores. While other herbivores may be more of a casual co-existence situation, but may also not be as inclined to get involved in defending other species like say a teno or something would. But that's all just my stance on it.

To be fair to the "Over aggressive" drawings, many megafaunal herbivores are actually quite aggressive to most animals around them, and ironically its many carnivorous animals that we find tend to flee or avoid conflicts unless absolutely necessary or for territorial disputes. I think Unnatural History Channel's videos (On youtube) on things like Diablos in Monster Hunter has a great explanation of this behavior and why in fact its large herbivores that tend to be aggressive over carnivores so for a ceratopsian to be overtly aggressive to nearly everything would make more sense.

i mean the most agressive and dangerous animals are herbavors in our current time. i believe it would be the same among dinos

I dont grt it i though 1 apex herb to protect herds and 1 apex carni to hunt big herds but now they made the trike aggressive to other herbis??? Whose going to protect them then

honestly i think trike should be agro, but theres a limit. this goes way past that limit

6:00 same thing in real life elephants impaling rhinos is pretty common. other herbivores fighting other herbivores is normal

6:28 real life herbivorous animals can also be aggressive to other animals of any type

Is this a fan concept ?

Concept art tells me to stick to my own race and tolorate small herbs but dont defend them, carnivores need to eat too,.. That neing said other trikes...

Concept art doesn't dictate how a playable should be played but yeah I agree that portraying all the ceratopsians as aggressive bullies is damaging and also repetitive.

I really hope they make pachyrhino aggressive because it looks like it would be but maybe the last tirke can be calm since it so small
