I got a bootleg of this around 1982 and of course was blown away. In a 1976-'77 interview Brian said this recording was "jive" and he was just trying to prove something. Anyway , that's Brian
the Chorus sounds quite ahead of its time imo - id certainly believe it if it would say 1983 or something. and his songs would sound similar for the next 20 years after this.
In my opinion, this would have made a fantastic closer to Love You and I think it really would have sounded even better if Carl was on the high parts and Dennis on the low parts. This is aside from the obvious fact that it would sound a lot clearer if it was used. Even though this one sounds more gritty, there's something about this original mix that seems to bring out more in the instrumentation than the official release on the Made In California box set, interesting.
We are constantly told that Brian's voice was wrecked at this time but this disproves it. So why didn't they get better vocal performances on tracks like Solar System and Let's put our hearts together?
Brian was still recovering from layringitis at the start of the sessions and had recovered by the end, hence why his voice generally sounds better on the Adult/Child stuff
I like a lot of the work Mark Linnet has done, but he's got an unfortunate tendency to try to smooth out the grittiness of The Beach Boys sound in his mixes after the turn of the millennium. He really biffed the remix of this tune and Sherry She Needs Me by adding autotune to Brian's voice and adding loads of anachronistic sounding reverb.
He makes it sound like the Spector version, which is cool, and I'm sure Brian appreciates. But this actually sounds like Brian in this era. I can actually hear the synths and shit
totally agree, I thought the 93 box mostly sounded cool, pet sounds box too, now everything’s an autotuned shrill nightmare. Still at least they’ll be able to sell new improved ones in twenty years
I love finding these gorgeous songs covered by Brian Wilson🎉😂 pithy😊❤
Magical, he's the Orson Wells of Pop.
Wow, I never thought of that. Perfect analogy

I love the "rougher sound to Brians version of this song

I really like his vocals on this.
Hope a mix close to this gets released. It's so good. He's a master of dynamics.
The bells during the chorus on this mix make it almost sound like the shower scene in Psycho.
Bombastic👍👌
❤ love it. Love Brian ❤️
I really like this, the verse is a little tinny sounding, but the chorus and the bridge are great.
Wooownderful!! Love...how should I say...the rawness...
Brian out-synthezising Spector!

A pity it was recorded after the release of 15 big ones!! Should have been on that album!!
Okay, this sounds more plausible than the Linnet mix. Still far more listenable than some of the 15 Big Ones-era stuff.
Love it
Sounds like feckin Velvet Underground, rad!

yeah, the sherry she needs me mix on MiC is atrocious
I thought it was just me, thanks.

did capital records release this song on 45 record
No, mainly because the band were on Reprise at the time. :-)
OK, he's done better. Before and since.
Its good, but the version from Elvis is much better
This is fake…!
0@@user-hs8fu8gm3o Brian cut this in the Fall of 1976 and it didn't see the light of day until the Made in California Box Set in 2011.
No good vibrations here. Terrible. Stay in yor skill set
hop off the comments and go walk on a lovely Thai beach because your take on Brian’s synth music is trash
@@forjustsomemusicstuff7040 I would love to hear this as an actual song, but MAN is this mixing atrocious.
@@forjustsomemusicstuff7040 🤣🤙
@@unagjac890 this is Brian's mix from 1976.
Love it
