Fan of the setup, nice and refined with useful luxuries. I've been utilizing my lightweight backpacking gear and it's surprising how quickly I can run out of space in the panniers.
You are not kidding when you say this is your minimalist pack out on this BDR compared to what you packed in the past. Good job Ben. Even though my recent trip with Bubba J to Wyoming wasn’t on dirt but pavement on the Harley, damn did we ever overpack. It’s human nature. Good job on finishing the ORBDR.
You are my favorite riding buddy man. It's fun to watch adventure videos of Pro MX riders, going on a 3 week trip with a pocket knife, 10m para cord and a rubber duck as their only survival gear. But if we all are honest, non of us will ever do that. I love your content because it is relatable. I love it because you packed twice as much as needed the first time, and that let me learn from that mistake without ever making it myself. Keep it up man, love the content! PS: I've seen some YTers have this cool auto following drone they use for some great footage. I think that would allow for some pretty awesome footage for your tips. Is that anything you ever tried? I know Arieman1 uses his a lot when filming.
That's a very nice compliment. Thank you. Those drones are cool but super expensive and you need a license to use footage in RUclips videos if you're making money unfortunately.
Just finished the MABDR. After 6 days of tent camping (some of it primitive no power, no water, no bathrooms) I think your load out is absolutely spot on 🖖
Another great and informative video ! Thanks for sharing. It's always great to see new ideas on packing....trimming the fat making things lighter yet keeping some of the luxury intact! Cheers, Ben!
we are starting at section 2 of the ORBDR and running it up to WABDR where we run that to Wenatchee come August , gonna be hot , hoping to get home in 6 but we have 8 just in case
I'd be really interested in a fresh look video on what should be in dry storage and what doesn't matter. I feel like everybody just shoves everything possible into the dry bags.
Leave the minimalist packing for the young guys. Us mature riders like our chairs and coffee. Good set up. I took too much on the IDBDR. Fit everything in my pannier’s and a rear bag. Didn’t hurt the ole GS.
Great video as usual. Great info. I've never thought of an external water bag, usually just a aluminium bottle and my micro water treatment pack. I just bought a jetboil. Awesome product and should have got one years ago. I'm glad we don't have bears in Australia.
Excellent ! Good setup , have you ever used the led rope lights from luminoodle? I have 2 for our bdr trips and they are great for lighting up camp. Only down fall is they require a usb power bank but totally worth it
Excellent RED CROSS on the bag! My biggest pet peeve is folks not carrying trauma bags and my second is it not being obviously marked and easily available. You done good. Did you wire-nut that baffle?
@@DorkintheRoad The way to breakdown Loctite, even 271, is to heat it. Not sure if the exhaust, over time gets hot enough. I'm thinking 400 degrees breaks it down. Don't know off-hand if a lower temp for a longer period will also break it down. I'm too lazy to walk out into the shop and read the label right now.
I have a jumper it will start a v8 and charge devices and can be charged with a usb or other cords like Samsung it’s the ( battery tender) by deltran it even has a flashlight it cost me about $100 it keeps it’s charge I’ve had it 2 years
Hey did you do a video comparison of your 2nd BDR to your 1st? Im curious how you liked or disliked the downsizing of both bike and gear on your 2nd trip
Nice setup. Approx what was the total weight of gear you were carrying ?... what did you carry for tools and spares ?...my setup is too heavy so I'm looking for some inspiration as to how to go lighter.
If you are going to carry bear spray maybe have it a little more accessible than second to last item out of the bag I don't see it being very useful where you have it stored
My ORBDR on my CRF450L is happening mid August, hoping to also take in a few sections of WABDR if we have time, my gear list is similar to yours a few items less but nothing additional apart from a 5ltr rotopax, cannot believe you managed ORBDR with just a 11.5ltr IMS tank?
Great basin technically works but is really designed for bigger bikes and sits more vertically. I like to be able to compartmentalize a bit and if I'd brought the bigger bag I definitely would have filled it.

Very streamlined and well thought out Pack out 👍🏻
High praise coming from you!

Sweet n Low?? Bro. 😂. Heading down on Sunday!!
Great video Ben. I liked how well thought out your gear was. Thank you for posting this!
Thank you for being my riding buddy! Your channel inspires me to continue exploring the world around me and that's amazing.
looks pretty dialed in. no double stoves or anything. quilt instead of sleeping bag is a huge space saver.
Thanks for sharing with us Ben. I just got my Diamond Park bag today to replace the old Nemo Jazzy. I can't wait to get out. You make me so jealous.
Nice kit Ben. Great video too. Take care.
Fender bag pro tip: drill small holes in the fender near the strap hooks then lace small zip ties. Barely visible and secure.
Good one! I usually just notch the fender where the clips go but didn't take the time on this one. Lesson learned
Thanks for doing this ! I’ve got the WABDR coming up and need to get smaller lighter!
Glad I looked up that Trail tech inflator. Has the elusive power bank option.

Great set up and very compact . I think you have it dialed in

Cool. This helped my research. Looking forward to my next journey after I quit my job this year and to seeing more videos from you.
I have a similar light weight setup, but it always goes to the wayside when it comes to food. Eating well is so important for me!
I try to eat at restaurants and stuff as much as possible. I rarely cook in camp on trips like these. Less to carry and better food ;)

Hopefully you have good luck with wildfires that time of year!
@@DorkintheRoad Thank you ! yeah i hate fire season 🤞🤞
I put my contact information in or on my bags just in case I get separated from them. Hopefully fan will find your tool kit and get it back to you.
Hi Dork, your a lucky man to ride the BDR'S I find it hard to use my vacation time to do the BDR, sadly I've only done the AZBDR. Great content sir.
My kit isn’t far off from yours. Gotta have my table though. Cheers fella!
Get a sunscreen in stick form, just as easy to apply and smaller, lasts longer too, I like Sun Bum

What the heck is a "koala"?
@osimnod a marsupial. Eats leaves. Sleeps all day. No relationship to a real bear in north America.
Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
Nice setup thanks for showing.
Thanks for watching!
Ouch, sorry to hear you lost your tools 🫤
Pug Cameo 🥰
I noticed you don't take a cooler. Do you miss having one? I enjoy watching your adventures!
Nice setup. Time for the TAT

What is a toast wrap, and how do you use it?😂
Great content, thanks for the vid!
Great presentation, thank you!
Hey Man , thanks for the videos . Love the channel . By any chance do you happen to have the map of this route ?
Thank you

Just a lot of loctite

Hey nice set up. How do you strap down the coyote big bag? I have a 2021 450rl and have issues strapping my saddle bag down towards the front.
I have giant loop mounts on my subframe bolts and they work very well. Otherwise just go straight to the frame.
What’s the earliest you can do the Oregon BDR? Was hoping to do half of it end of May but starting to second guess those dates.
Hey did you do a video comparison of your 2nd BDR to your 1st? Im curious how you liked or disliked the downsizing of both bike and gear on your 2nd trip
Mute button. LOL! Good video.

Unless I'm just missing it, not seeing the tire pump in the list. Could you provide a link please!
How far can you go with the IMS tank? I didn't see a fuel bag or tank in your setup.
I want to do that BDR trip , question for you, I have a GS adventure, and I also have a Africa twin, which one would you recommend?
New t shirt, good for bears and not bears. 😂
If you are going to carry bear spray maybe have it a little more accessible than second to last item out of the bag I don't see it being very useful where you have it stored
I don't keep it in there when I'm in camp. On the bike I'm making enough noise in unlikely to need it
@@DorkintheRoad I know you've seen the video of the dirtbikers crashing into that bears den
Anyone else's screen go white from 2:12 to 2:14? 😁😉

I have a three gallon IMS tank and we had a 2 gallon Armadillo Bag with us which came in handy.
Might see you out there, mid August orbdr also on a 450L.
I ordered the 1gal Armadillo bag specifically for section 1 and 2. 9:39
@@wayward03 Cool, my buddy is riding 890 we have Alberta plates, I'm so excited !
@netencore 3 of us will be out there 2 690s and my 450L
Just curious why not just use the Great Basin and avoid all the little bags and strap ons.
Great basin technically works but is really designed for bigger bikes and sits more vertically. I like to be able to compartmentalize a bit and if I'd brought the bigger bag I definitely would have filled it.
Where did you get the tarp that you have everything on?
amazon
Did anyone find that tire change bag and get it back to you?
yes! it was awesome!
I made the mistake of not washing my x-mug before I poured whiskey in it the first time.
Blehk.
Probably wouldn’t keep the bear spray at the bottom of the bag.
👏🍻
MUTED! 😅
why would you pack underwear....man up brother...hahaha
Speaking of seat concepts, apparently your sponsorship has a limitation, because none of your codes work anymore. 😞
