Thank you for sharing this I had the privilege of being there with my grandfather when I was 13 years old watching this has brought back a lot of great memories Fred was a great guy Zachary, everybody that I know misses him.
Ted with his two kids omg time goes so damn fast. I was 19 in 85 and can’t believe all the changes I’ve witnessed and all the people I looked up to in my life are now mostly gone.
I was born and raised in Houghton Lake. I went to school 200 yards from there. That’s the back of our Public Library, still looks basically the same lol. Some shots were the football field. What a great show, and what some great memories. God Bless Houghton Lake, Michigan, and the USA!
This was 1985 and I grew up in Michigan and was 10 years-old at the time. I would love to go camping and head out hunting with my Dad. I vividly remember that time and I think that way of growing up is fading. A lot of us learned our appreciation for the outdoors from our fathers and they learned it from their fathers. With all of the technology kids have today it is hard to get them to sit in a deer blind for 9 hours. Slowly these types of memories from the old days will just exist as memories because fewer and fewer kids will grow up the way we did when it was very simple yet still fun.
what a nice Bronco ted has there boy I bet that rig has all the bells and whistles I wonder if he still has it in his collection of vehicles? by the looks of it it sure is well equipped for off roading and getting to them hard to get to spots off the trails. thanks for the blast to the past video Zach much appreciated.
I used to go to these when I was a kid. back in the late 80's I went to one and bought a pure bread beagle puppy from a guy selling them up there that day boy do I miss them days and the dog
Thanks for posting Zachary! I just reposted this video to a friend who’s deceased dad is in this video, who was also the one who taxidermied my first buck from Tecumseh, MI!
Boy have times changed since 1985. I have a feeling some of these gentleman wouldn't be too happy with the crossbows used by so many today. Also I doubt they would have an event shooting arrows in the air on a high school football field. Wouldn't want to be the one throwing those targets up in the air. Looks like an accident waiting to happen
Such a great show!! I watched everytime it was on through the years! Great content ❤

Cool video. I was just a little kid back then I don’t remember much of 1985. People looked thinner and healthier back then than they do today
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.

Is that Houghton Lake High School Home of the Bobcats?
That is correct, not something you could do today on school property.

Nice to see Ted caught off guard. Seems a lot more chill.
Yeah back when he used to record music for entertainment instead of running his mouth.

I wish they still did this kind of stuff up there they don't do anything up there anymore you can't even tell it it's hunting season
Archery and rimfire shooting are fine family and friends activities. Wish more people did it now. It's never too late to get back into it.

It was a great event and was fun. I think the last year it was held was around 1999. Would be much harder to do today.
Poor Fred, he had such bad luck.
