Now I know that all of those DPS one-tricks arguing over who really has the gold damage medal while in spawn before the round starts were all right due to technicality, and definitely not trying to puff themselves up because they keep running past my Rein shield and dying!
No joke I get more excited for your upload than any other channel rn. I love channels that break down the “behind the scenes stats” of games like this, and the production value is so high with your content that it’s really satisfying to view. Thanks for what you do!
The most common gold medal at zero is for sure objective time. multiple cases I've come across having the medal when we lose the first fight of a defense and I just try to die point and only touch it for a few moments before dying. Never knew the exact reason, but always found it amusing to see.
Most of the overwatch youtuber say: " I feel like ... " (Which most of them are proven wrong actually) Marblr: "This is the stat and fact, no guessing, just facts." (And give actual number and beautifully crafted animations to demonstrate) Just beautiful. Chef's kiss.
A fun side effect of the number being rounded is that if the damage/healing is between 999.5 and 1,000 it will display as 1000 in the scoreboard and not 1,000 (notice the missing comma).
Randomly suggested video. Wow, what great editing. Everything was so clear and captivating. I think I hit subscribe before I was half through the video. Can't wait to crawl through your channel and see what else you've made.
I am so glad that medals are gone in OW2. The only purpose they ultimately served was enabling people to complain about Damage heroes "not doing their job" when the rest of the team consisted of Roadhog, Sigma, Moira, and Zenyatta.
Nice video, there’s always someone who makes polished videos like this in other game communities and I’m glad Overwatch finally has someone like you, they’re the best! 😊
I've explained this mid game to people and they're literally incapable of understanding that even the integer medals can be the same for multiple people. Appreciate that you use facts and stats
1:23 Roadhog: "That tickles." Bastion: _nervous beeping_ Thanks for the excellent explanation. I've occasionally scratched my head over this with my team.
Great video, I knew about these medal anomolies but never understood how they occured exactly. Also, I love the choice of music (Super Monkey Ball 2: World 7 - Bubbling Washing Machine 😉)
definitely want a video explaining endorsement levels. from my experience it seems endorsement lvl only drops on console (ps4) by leaving games prematurely which makes it very easy to maintain lvl 5, while on pc it will drop if you go a few games without receiving an endorsement. i know ultimately endorsement lvls mean nothing gameplay wise, i just miss my lvl 5 badge
I really want to know what the maximum possible damage you can do in a single attack is. Obviously using Mercy's damage boost, Bap's window, Zen's discord orb, and Ana's nanoboost isn't possible in a single competitive game, so what would be the theoretical maximum without the role constraint? And the real maximum damage possible in a competitive game? With which character? Is it Widow with a fully charged headshot, or a Zen with a fully charged right click? Does Orisa's Supercharger stack with any of these? How does the server account for the boosts? Which one is applied first? And what happens when you take ultimates into account? Is Cassidy's High Noon an infinitely scaleable damage-dealer if the timer doesn't run out? Do the boosts allow Pharah's Barrage to deal the highest damage? SO MANY QUESTIONS! I don't need sleep, I need answers! Love your videos
I'm pretty sure that answer can be found in the most recent "max damage" ideo its fairly old, but damage boosting mechanics haven't changed very much since then
Please go over Mei's abilities in regard to hitboxes vs visuals. Like how you can shoot things behind her wall, even if you see it visually in the way while it is being built with hitscan and so on.
i would love to see you break down some of overwatchs unique achievements like waste not want not and what Defines solo kills and killing blows since ive gotten achievements where they werent full hp/werent the killing blow in the kill feed
I just recently had it happen to have silver healing as Zenyatta with 0 healing, I guess there's decimals behind it and that could explain it being a silver medal xD
Once again, no nuisance, no unnecessady animations, intros and outros. Hell yeah, no Twitch slavery and idiotic display with flashing effects. Content with polished presentation > shining garbage. Bravo mister !!!!
I’m ridiculously impressed by every one of your vids. What’s your process for getting to these answers? Is it all just messing around in workshop till everything clicks?
workshop testing + my own game dev experience to connect the dots and make inferences. though there have been video topics I've had to scrap because I couldn't arrive at an answer.
@@Marblr dang that’s super impressive. Have you ever considered making a more myth-busters type video where you show your thought process and problem solving methods? I’d be super interested in watching that even if the initial question proved to be unanswerable.
@@jonahthurston9231 I try to show some experimentation / red herrings when it doesn't inflate the video length too much. for example, at the start of the dva healing video I show that the demech & remech process is not responsible for healing (it's the first thing I investigated when looking for healing sources).
Heroes that can self damage (Pharah, Zarya) can be healed before the round begins and it doesn't count towards the scoreboard. Interestingly, once the round starts and you heal their damage it still doesn't count.
I think self damage does not yield any ultimate charge or stats when healed, because it would probably open up exploits for things like stat inflation or ult charging.
a few days ago I played 4v4 deathmatch at the end of the round i got voted for 4 goldmedals but i only had silver damage and 3 goldmedals do you now how that can happen?
I know the medals are gone, but I'm curious about the foundational idea that there is only one medal type per team/match.... I play next to my wife a lot, and we often share gold medals. It never seemed exclusive to me. It always looked like a threshold that multiple people could get.
I love your videos. Very good work! I still know from earlier the "bug" that one has reflected as Genji player sometimes in a round over 25000 dmg. I do not know if this glitch still exists. I think that came from when 2 Genjis use deflect at the same time and the dmg is reflected back and forth. Can you also address this in a new video?
Now I know that all of those DPS one-tricks arguing over who really has the gold damage medal while in spawn before the round starts were all right due to technicality, and definitely not trying to puff themselves up because they keep running past my Rein shield and dying!
And that just made players more toxic, unnecessarily
I cant seem to relate because my DPS one tricks typically don't have gold damage or even silver
@@mrpacifism209 right, but they still probably say they do ;)
bold of you to propose DPS players are getting dmg medals

This begs the question... Is the minimum objective time 1ms or 1 tick?
@@ReedoTV probably just have to touch it for a tick for it to register that you have touched it.

I love your voice, it’s so calming and your choice of background music! Mario 64 remains timeless, please keep this content coming because I’m in love
Since the scoreboard has decimals for damage dealt, does that mean that player hp has hidden decimals?
yes, the health displayed on the HUD is a rounded value of your actual health
Yep, that's exactly what it means
Neat, thanks!
does that mean the player dies once your health hits 0.4 instead of 0 since it's rounding down?
@@agent.k1254 I would imagine health is rounded up (0.001/200 HP displays as 1/200 HP on the HUD), but I am not sure right now

you must be a game dev or a very skilled programmer to understand these statuses, design and explain everything point by point!
The best part of these videos is not the information, it's the character animations he does lol
