He doesn't tell you it operates on OPEN AI and you have to drop your credit card there or it will tell you that you've exceeded your quota every time you try to use it.

That is wrong. Read the FAQ's on their home page. It will consume their company's API. Architecture they have made is, if the user API is not found, software will automatically use their company API key. Since they are having 100s of users, sometimes API calls get throttled and openai stop responding. So they ask their customers to enter their own API, so that whenever there is a issue, it will will consume their API from free tier.
