Beautiful trek down memory lane, Ram. I hiked Langtang in early March 1990. At the time it wasn't a very popular hike. Almost everybody would either go to Pokhara or Everest base camp. It was interesting to see all the tea and guest houses there are now. Langtang village was a tiny hamlet of only five or six stone houses occupied by the local Tamang people. Kyanjin Gompa was a also only a few buildings, not more than four or five, and where they used to make yak cheese, if I remember correctly. It definitely wasn't a village, and there were no concrete houses or pit toilets anywhere along the trek. Also the little rock walls and prayer flags on the mountain above Kyanjin Gompa that the tourists climbed wasn't there when I climbed it. I didn't go on a tour. I merely bought a yak coat, some used hiking boots, and a Tibetan blanket in Kathmandu and headed up to Dhunche. It was cold at times and there was a lot more snow the higher one went, but I loved every minute of it. It was truly a spectacular trek and I have many wonderful memories of it. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. Namaste _/\_
Thank you so much for the comment and liking my video. I am glad to hear that you were there in 1990 before i actually started my trekking life. I am sure, you had very different experiences then i had on this trek. Anyway, it was my 41st time trekking in Langtang valley :) So i had many different experiences too :)
Hi Ram. What a wonderful journey down memory lane. A few years have passed since Hana, Hana & I trekked the Langtang with Pawan & Biddur. While I see much damage from the earthquake, it's good to see that so many tea houses have been rebuilt. I recognized so much of the scenery which remains untouched by the earthquake. Truely "Heaven on Earth". Thanks for sharing. Lynn
Hi Lynn, Thanks for the comment and reminding me of you three trekked with my company Mountain Ram Adventures. It was our great pleasure to have organize your trek to Langtang valley. Yes, many tea houses have been rebuilt and they are ready to welcome tourists again. Hope you return to Nepal again for another adventure trekking. yes, Langtnag is truely "heaven on Earth" See you soon. Ram
Hi There,I was there in my twenties in 1990, have beautiful memories and 24 films rolls of local life and wonderful peoples. Sad to see Langtan village been destroyed by earthquake in 2014. Will have to go back with my old pictures to fine those people I met. ‘Namaste’
Thank you so much Ram and team at Mountain Ram Adventures for organising this trek for us & making sure we were always well taken care off during our time trekking there. We had an amazing adventure being on this stunning & quiet trek. I hope that more trekkers will come to Lantang Valley and see the beauty of it for themselves. Great job Ram for promoting the beauty of this trek and showing the wonderful hospitality of its people. It was very sad seeing the buried former Lantang village under the rubble but it was also heartening to see the new village bouncing back. The people there are just so resilient. Watching this video makes me want to revisit the places again :)
Thank you so much for the comment Mona and thank you so much for joining Mountain Ram Adventures for your trekking to Langtang. Please let me know if you are willing to revisit Langtang again, we will be very happy to organize your trek again :)
Showed my wife this video and she asked "When are we going?" I was there in 2003. Hopefully by early next year the Australian government will let us travel overseas again. We could combine this trip with Gosainkunda.
th video quality much better than last time . thank you for posting . i am out from Nepal for almost 9 year and i am so desperately waiting to get this places . BTW how many people has lost their lives in Langtang village last earthquake ? so sad :(
Great that quality looks different then previous ones. This time i used DJI OSMO, GoPro and iPhone to take video and i mixed it up while editing. You have been away from Nepal too long. Yes, its good news that you are planning to come back soon. I don't' think the statistic of the number of people who lost their lives may not be true because there is no exact number. In my personal opinion, more than 300 lives must have gone with the avalanche !
I'm writing a fiction novel set in this region and your video helped me see what it's like there, very helpful to me,. My story is a spiritual journey of a journalist trying to make a video about the sadhus of the Himalaya and the deathless yogis. :)
I love this trek for birds. I walk too slowly sometimes and the guide with me is a bit frustrated. It’s good to see trekkers back in this area since the earthquake.
Yes, its a beautiful trek and you can see and hear birds while walking from Syaprubesi to Godetabala (specially after Lama hotel till Ghodetabala). We don't like to walk too fast becuase you forget to enjoy the nature if you rush so we walk slow in our treks and our guides are never frustrated walking slow :) And yes, the tourism has recovered in Langtang after the earthquake. Thank you for the comment. Cheers, Ram
Bro you are the best trek guide coz you did ur homework very well with you experience like you now tibet border ..and the food which is tibetan food n u know ...you giving correct information to all.great.
Thanks for this cool video! Going to Nepal for a month in June. Looking for good alternatives for Everest Base Camp which might not be a good idea in June due to monsoon.
Detherion, thank you so much for liking my video. I am glad to hear that you are planning a trek. Yes, June is a raining season so Everest trek could be a problem because of flight cancelations so you could choose either going to Langtang Gosainkunda trek or Manaslu Trek or Khopra trek. Let me know if you need any assistance in planning and organizing your trek in Nepal :)
Namaskar Upreti Dai,I went to Langtang before earthquake with my brother and back than we did recorded many videos but accidently we broke our memory card. I still have some video which I recorded with my phone. Dai can I use some parts from this video to edit and complete my story. Thank you.
More people need to subscribe u becoz of the way u described the. Whole langtang.... Coming soon after this shit Corona... Love form India... Chito aauchu dai yo lockdown matrai sakinu dinus na....
I reckon you should do little bit of editing and colour correction in your video. That would be great 👍 but anyway great video...I’ve done this trek recently and I can remember the trail , valley and mountains.Brings back memories :) keep exploring nepal .
👍i always love to see ur videos--gorgeous breath-taking landscape that GOD ALONE COULD DEVELOPED! 💛 ..t'was a joyful trekking with u..tho the site of "2015 may earthquake" struck me deeply and made me google the "before and after" of lanthang valley (?!)--a total devastation 😭😭😭 --proof that we cannot escape nature wrath! Hi, I plan on travelling to Nepal in March... I will have about 10 days to do a trek. I'll be travelling solo and thinking about Lantang... or maybe ABC? what do you think?
Hi, its very nice to hear that you are planning to travel in our country in March. Actually, if you have only 10 days in Nepal, its best to do Langtang trek. 3 nights in Kathmandu (two nights before the trek and one night after the trek) and 7 days trek to Langtang. You can write us an email, we can send you the program itinerary and the cost for your trip :) Regards, Ram
Its always great to trek there around the year but June and July, it rains so the road is bit risky so any other time of the year is perfect for this trek. But most people prefer to go in September/October/November/December for clear view and March/April/May for clear view with rhododendron flower view :) Cheers, Ram
Hi ram ji.. if you're the first timer to climb in nepal. which one do you prefer? Annapurna base camp or this lang tang valley trek. i'm coming to nepal this coming october for 12 days. If you can give me your own perspective for both trekking. Thank You
MUHAMMAD HELMI BOHARI I am really glad to hear that you are coming to Nepal this October. Ok as a first timer trekker I would definitely suggest you Langtang valley trek (this trek) because Annapurna base camp is also nice but too crowded and it's slightly more difficult than this trek. Scenery is great in both treks. Hope to see you in October. Oh by the way, you can book your trek with us (Mountain Ram Adventures) we will make your trip unforgettable 😊
Hi Ram, I thought you were using GoPro and an Osmo. I have been to Nepal 7 times and will be back in November to see my friend Tulay Rana and go treking with him. All the best with your company.
Great video Ram. Very informative. What is the best time of year to do this trek if we want to avoid the crowds, avoid extreme weather and enjoy the views avoiding the clouds?
Thank you so much for your comment. The best time of the year to trek in Nepal is Mid Feb to May and September to December. But these months are quite busy so if you really want to avoid crowd, i would suggest you to trek in January which is the coldest month so not many people go trek. I prefer December and January. The weather is perfect in these months so the scenery is amazing and the trek is excellent. But when you say, you want to avoid extreme weather, you better plan for March, April, May, October and November. Let me know if you need any assistance in planning your trek, i run a trekking company called Mountain Ram Adventures :) Cheers !!!
Hello Ram ji. I am your big fan. Please tell me if there is change of snow in November in Langtang. When is the best time if you want to see snow? Thanks a lot.
Hi Dilak, I am glad to hear that you are a big fan, Thank you. NO, it normally does not snow in November but you will see snowy mountains around so view is amazing in November. But if you wish to see snow fall, then you will have to do this trek in late January or February or March. Cheers, Ram
Great video! Amazing ! Would love to see more of your videos. Inspiring alot. I am planning to do this trek in November 2 , 2018. If we reach Syaprubesi at 2 pm , will we be able to reach Rimche the very first day? In fact where can we reach at around 5 : 30 pm or 6 pm if we are fast walkers. Thanks in advance ! :)
Thank you so much. Its 5 hours trek from Besisahar to Rimche so if you start from syaprubesi at 2 then you will arrive at Rimche arond 7 pm. But i can see that you will reach Bamboo at 6 pm. Have a great trek.
Hey Ram, been following your videos for a while now & must say u r doing an amazing job. Could you please tell me days u guys took to reach Kyanjin Gompa & total days of the trek ?
Hey Mesh, Thanks for the comment. I am glad that you have been following my videos and you appreciate it :) Its total 7 days trek but we added one more day in Langtang for acclimatization day. But it is still possible in 7 days (Kathmandu to Kathmandu) Day 1 Kathmandu to Syaprubesi, Day 2 Syaprubesi to Lama hotel, Day 3 lama hotel to Langtang, Day 4 Langtang to Kyanjin and hike to kyanjin ri (4773m) Day 5 Kyanjin gompa to Lama hotel, Day 6 Lama hotel to Syaprubesi and Day 7 Syaprubesi to kathmandu drive. Please feel free to ask me anything :)
Glad to hear that you are going to Langtang for a week. I am sure you will enjoy this trek. By the way, going without a guide is definitely not recommended but its possible. There are many confusing paths but if you are conscious enough, you can figure it out :) Anyway, feel free to call me from those places where you get confused, i can tell you the direction :) Cheers, Ram

I thought langtang was gone? Rebuilt?
Hi Ram, i have one question to ask,
Can a persin from India do this solo without guide & porter ?
Thanks for response.
Solo is not allowed and not safe too so if you have few friends then i think you can do the trek individually 😊
Hi, I plan on travelling to Nepal in March... I will have about 10 days to do a trek. I'll be travelling solo and thinking about Lantang... or maybe ABC? what do you think?
Hi, its very nice to hear that you are planning to travel in our country in March. Hi. which time of the year was this?
Hi ram ji.. if you're the first timer to climb in nepal. which one do you prefer?
Love the video!!! Which month that I need to avoid if I don't like snow?

Glad to hear that you are going to Langtang for a week. I am sure you will enjoy this trek. By the way, going without a guide is definitely not recommended but its possible. There are many confusing paths but if you are conscious enough, you can figure it out :) Anyway, feel free to call me from those places where you get confused, i can tell you the direction :) Cheers, Ram
