One of the best 9.5 minutes I've ever spent on RUclips. In a very concise and clear manner, Todd, you've thoroughly explained what was until now a total mystery to me. I simply cannot thank you enough. It goes without saying that I have now subscribed to your magnificent Channel. All the best to you.
What is your patreon? Thank you so much for providing such straight forward content! You are really good at breaking complex things down to simple people like me. I am so excited to try this out tomorrow! ❤
Dear Todd, thanks for this AMAZING patch clinic (although my brain is starting to hurt now from so much new knowledge flying in all at once!:) Just kidding, you are truly a godsend to all of us MS-20 noobs! With your previous intro & this video here you take us from zero to hero in less than 1/2 hour! 🙏👽🪘♥
There is a definitely learning curve, and even after making this, I sometimes need to re-think how I’m going to setup my sounds. But that’s what also makes it fun!
Can you explain how to use the square wave on the modulation generator waveform? There is the picture of it above the triangle wave but I can't find out how to change it from the saws and triangle? Thanks.
Ah yeah! So in order to change it, you must connect the pulse wave via the patch bay. I’m not at my computer now, but I think I remember that the left side is saw and to the right there is a CV jack for the square.
Well if it is a full size, use 1/4”. If it is a mini, use 1/8”. Unless you mean where does it get connected. In that case, just run out of the pulse wave into wherever you want. A good place to start is running the pulse output into the “total” input on the top left. This will route it to the filters and pitch. Just make sure to turn up the level knobs on the bottom left the the synth to have the modulation amount set properly.
I understand it is a little odd. But try walking through some of my examples and replicate them. I don't use every patchable point, but there are some really fun ways to use that section to expand what you can do with this synth.

Thank you so much for the kind words and support of the channel. 😃
The MS-20 is just a thing of beauty. I didnt get one when i was young. But i have my FS green now. Great job bro. Nice and concise. 👍
😃 Thanks! Yes - it is a quirky synth, but perfect in its own way!
This is fantastic. Finally starting to understand the patching logic! Thank you!
Awesome! Feel free to share ideas in the comments. 💡
just wanna say this channel is a blessing for us all ❤
Thank you! 🙏🏻

Excellent tutorial
Thank you Mike! 🎸
Is that a Twin Peaks tattoo?
No, but now I’m thinking I should tell people that it is! 😀 I wasn’t cool enough to think about that 20+ years ago when I got it.

@@ToddUrban thanks so much for repsonding. im sorry im still confused, sorry i am a beginner with patching
@@ToddUrban which patch cables do i need to connect?
Well if it is a full size, use 1/4”. If it is a mini, use 1/8”. Unless you mean where does it get connected. In that case, just run out of the pulse wave into wherever you want. Also, make sure to watch my other two videos. You need to really understand the controls on the left side to understand how the patching works.
I've owned one for years and still can't figure out the patchbay lol

Its a bit out of focus and a close up of the input labels would be good
Yeah, agreed. I could have changed the F stop instead of being “artsy”. Next time!
