- Ridley Scott discusses the making of the famous 1984 Macintosh commercial. This is excerpted from an Apple promotional video.
"I think we nailed it". Talk about an understatement Ridley, probably the most famouse advert ever made
One of the finest directors I must say.
I love most of his movies!usually kickass sorroundings and he is a world creator!I loved how Gladiator looked!I really love Blade Runner and I love his new Alien stuff too but for the outfits and environment and not the acting so much!
RIDLEY SCOTT...ONE OF THE GREATEST COMMERCIAL DIRECTORS !!!
AND ALSO CINEMA MOVIE DIRECTORS !!!
Totally agree!
And his tendency to say "right?" He's one of my favorite directors to hear in commentary tracks.
Great tv ad and production values which also indirectly promote "1984" (the original novel & the movie with John Hurt) plus the classic German Sci-Fi movie "Metropolis".
Hehheh. People smoked so many cigarettes back then. I laughed when Ridley picked up another one just as he finished the last one.
In fact in the ad they didn't needed smoke effects, they were just smoking normally. XD
I love his brother's "yeah" at the end of every sentence, lol
A legend.
Best commercial ever use to see it on T.V. Living at home. To this day I you tube channel no 5 today.
Thanks for the info and the link. Yes she is striking!
The athlete lady who throws the hammar is named Anya Major, she also had a starring role in Elton John's music video for the song "Nikita", and she had the most extraordinarily beautiful grey eyes I've evar seen. See for yoursel: ruclips.net/video/Tg-Q-Acv4qs/видео.html
you are so right...commenter from the past...beautiful eyes !
I remember when all apple advertisements used the Apple Garamond with the same voice over from the 80's to the 90's
My god. What a life after this. Hats off (minus prometheus)!!
you do know he directed Alien and Blade Runner before this
Going back a bit - refreshing.
song : Puttin on the Ritz
Artist : Taco
Very good thanks . . . The Shape of Things to Come is a work of science fiction by H. G. Wells, published in 1933, which speculates on future events from 1933 until the year 2106 . . . never happened racist.
LifePsyop yes it is....how the f..k did you notice that ..nice one good luck...from the bloke who was in the clips you spotted
Nice story board!
:-D
i think ridley scott is mistaking Lenin for Karl marks
Yes, Karl Marx didn't have red hair nor a goatee! But I guess when this was made, you couldn't simply look up a picture of someone to check, like we can these days using the internet.
@@alphabet_soup123 Karl Marx looked like Santa!

So hypocrite from the people who said that TV director can’t be good director (Spielberg: hold my beer) while they don’t say the same thing about commercial directors like Ridley Scott. Despite commercial being less closer to cinema than tv series
Who says TV directors can't be good movie directors?
@@AssyMcgeeee snobs
Commercials are much closer than tv. Commercials have unbelievable economy of statement, having to tell a story and in doing so cut out everything that isn’t essential to that story, just like films do. TV shows do the opposite and are meandering by comparison.
Looks a lot like Don Henley.
Gladiator or blade Runner?
Alien is the one of the greatest movie in cinema history.
wow

Dat chin. I now know why he's got that beard.
I wish the girl in the commercial was dressed like the girl in the concept art. That would make the commercial look considerably less dated.
Come on. Be honest Ridley, You picked the girl at Hooters! She didn't even changed outfit.
Good dramatic bullshit!
LOLLLL
The bedt
no such thing as dated. foolish boy
