855D full glass cab, 2017 now on 1300 hrs, bought at 12 months old from main dealer on 800hrs. Fully maintained and mostly by dealer. Very few hrs driven by anyone other than me.....................Yes to the door catch, it is SH...T. Problem with headlights/indicators but literally just seen a possible cause on another channel. Mudflaps yes but I can live with it, really needs wider ones above on the wheel arches anyway. Handbrake never feels very reassuring, kind of dry. I have had the same feeling on some Claas tractors. It does wind up a bit in 4wd. I am getting tyres going soft on front but use tyre sealant/gunk. It is pretty noisey. Suction filter in diesel tank has clogged causing it to die or lose power (that feeling it's going to die but comes back).......fairly simple clean. It happened on an HPX I had before too. The 855 is easier to access and remove pipe to clean foot filter. I had a track rod end completely strip the threads and let go of the steering rack.....luckily at very low speed. Rang John Deere UK.......they took the old rack back to check but would not contribute to the replacement about £500/600......that was the most worrying fault. Just ordered a set of glowplugs as it is really taking lots of winding to start. Other than that it is very capable, comfortable and leaves so little in the way of track marks in wet ground. They don't come cheap either!
I agree about the mud flaps too and the 4 wheel drive. Mine does the same thing, but I love it, like you. Awesome machine! I do not have a cab on my 855D.
Yeah they have captive bolts on the bottom of the hinges and then the shock comes off the window with a pair of needle nose spread open to grab the holes in the round plastic piece
@@TheDurbinCompound On the outside that’s what I’m having trouble getting those caps off the bolts. On the inside they pulled right off and when you try to loosen the nut the bolt spins
My 825I...#1 peeve is the same the damn LOCKS keep falling apart. I wish it had one more higher gear it runs at such high RPM at low speeds. The tires don't last long and replacement isn't cheap. But overall a 9 out of 10!
👍👍 I find that they usually benefit greatly from being speced for specific tasks or owners. The pavement eats up these knobby tires but we sure do need them for the mud and snow. So it’s a give and take for sure!
Maybe in the two years you thought of this for the flap.. Put a hole through the flap with a chain from the flap to frame of the machine forward... Not hard to make flap ties..
I totally agree, not hard to make flap ties. The point for me is that this should be sorted by John Deere before going to production. We pay big money for these machines.
@@TheDurbinCompound right... Im looking at a diesel one now on the cheap.. Rusty, leaking axles and the solenoid that lets it run after you let off the key... Cab in decent shape... Beds crap though... I'm hoping for around $600 .. And a winter full of work...
I have an '11 855D here, we have put 5,400hrs on it.......cost of repairs are our biggest gripe......driver's door shattered for no reason - twice. A new one is 900 UK pounds!!!! - talk about rip-off dealers!!!....The suspension bushes are pretty average and not really suitable for continual dusty/muddy work - the grease tends to take the path of least resistance instead of lubricating to steel bushes (even after putting grease grooves in the pins). The air-filter sucks in a LOT of dust as it draws from behind the R.H. rear wheel. (there is a snorkel kit to alter this tho). After time the tyres creep on the rims and then suddenly start to leak air. As you say the door locks are a bit Mickey-Mouse and it will "wind up" in 4wd. Spinning the oil filter on/off is a bit of a fiddle and the handbrake is marginal. On the plus side it does grip well and safe on all kinds of terrain. The engine is superb and we fold the passenger seat forward to allow space for our dog to sit on top the battery box.
MUD FLAP = I'm guessing that it's attached with two screws/bolts/push pins. Just get two flat aluminium bars* 1" wide x 1/4" thick flat bar, drill hole and attach to existing JD holes, BEHIND the flapping mud flap, then bend bar towards the front. * or even a metal coat hanger. Bamm - Done!
Have a 855d 2017 model. Handles for doors are horrible. Worst possible place for an oil filter. You need a child's hand on steroids to remove it. Have had issues over the years but it's been pretty good for us.
I agree with these points as well. I use large channel locks to get the oil filter loose in through there, then some back wards contortionist move on my stomach to spin it the rest of the way off. The handles are absolutely the worst. I have glued and JB welded different things, replaced springs with Century spring replacements, lock tite on the little screws. Everything!
@@TheDurbinCompound I talked to the dealer this a.m. about it and evidently it has been a constant problem. So I decided to shop around and kinda ...ok really like the 835M and it may be in my future. TBD
I drive one of these every day at work. Currently at almost 18,000 miles!
I had a similar issue with the mudflaps - mentioned to the dealer and they installed a different set and problem was resolved.

Do you know how to take the doors off the gator? I have the same machine and want to remove the doors for summer.

That thing is awesome! Been looking forward to this one 🙂
It has been a long time coming

My dad has one that looks exactly like that but it's a four-seater
The fuses blow so quick in the 2007 version

That is pretty much exactly how I have it built.
I own a 2008 Gator XUV and I’ve been looking forward to this one
900 hours is not bad. Mine went about 1/2 mile.
spirit what happened? My four seater got 5300 hours

this may happen to your gator but itleesed it won't happen to everyone
man...look at all the toys you have...you must be a rich guy 💰💰😅
#notmine! 😂😂
Own a 2012 825i with the same “Deluxe” cab, I have never had any issues with the door locks. Knock on wood
Well that’s good! I’m really disappointed at this one. Passenger side works well though
Lucky, I've had constant issues with mine.
Mo Town I have rebuilt the lock about 5 times this year. It is epoxied at this point. Next time I’m stuffing it full of JB Weld

They need to fix the design flaw and recall out the locks
