Every "service" was like putting worms in your head, it would take all week to get them out so I could drum up the patience to go in and see what the puppet show had in store the next week. We had the FULLY POSSESSED old woman, screaming in tongues (during the "worship" and a steady diet of TOP 40 style chanting "christian" music). Then the pastor would beetle his but up to the pulpit to give a "message". He'd read some obscure passage out of the "passion translation", ALWAYS out of context and devoid of any spiritual wisdom. He'd yammer on and on like a TED talk, never really saying anything, trying to address specks when the guy had an entire housing development in his EYES. I really could not deal with any of it anymore.

I'm not a cessationist but I'm not in NAR. I believe in gifts and so on and deliverance but not a show boat that's wound up to be.. I agree with Baptistist on church authority. If people had the truth and studied the word of God then they would be able to cast down imaginations and not be tormented. I used to believe everything the pastor said. But I have learned that there is so much false teaching out there. What I found helpful is to do what apostle Paul asked us to do. Follow the example of the Bereans. If I question something the pastor has said I confirm in scripture. I would be mortified if I gave anyone a false truth. I used to volunteer at a Christian food bank. When I offered bibles most said they had a bible. My next question. Was … “do you read the Bible?” 95 % said no. And this is disappointing. Please pray for me. I live in Houston and don't have a church. This lady invited me to her church. I wanted to leave but I've known the lady a while and didn't want to be rude. It was theatrical, the pastor's wife requested a stand so she could lean on. "Linda" leaned over and told me, "She is drunk in the spirit." I wanted to disappear! I told her it wasn't what I'm looking for. I have two friends I fellowship with right now. It's bad.

When I came out the occult, I was in the NAR a while, not knowing better. I remember praying to be knocked out like all these people, and oddly enough, God did not let it happen. I did end up tapping into some kundalini stuff thinking it was God, but it was so convincing.
With the times we're living in I was wondering if it's possible to be a Christian while also being depressed. I know Christ died for me and that by that I am saved but current events/politics really drag my spirit down low.
One piece of advice as someone who is also struggling is to avoid politics and the news. It helped me massively. Also, challenge the thoughts that your head is trying to convince you of. Look for evidence for these thoughts. Look into the Word about God's love for you. It helped me a lot to just google "scripture for xy" or "bible verses when you are" If you have the ability to, look for a therapist. God bless you ❤
Early in my walk with God I met someone who was pretty involved with nar churches. I didn't know what nar was at the time I was just fervently reading the Bible for the first time. I went to a couple events he recommended and every time I went I just knew deep down something was really off. This person would tell me about 7 mountain mandate and day he has prophetic gifts and even said doctrine that was outside of Scripture etc and every time he would tell me these things I'd say to him show it to me in the Bible and he goes silent. I've even tried to warn him about how most of the so called leaders and organizations he follows are false, but I guess he's super invested. People want to be deceived.

I used to believe everything the pastor said. But I have learned that there is so much false teaching out there. What I found helpful is to do what apostle Paul asked us to do. Follow the example of the Bereans. If I question something the pastor has said I confirm in scripture. I would be mortified if I gave anyone a false truth. I used to volunteer at a Christian food bank. When I offered bibles most said they had a bible. My next question. Was … “do you read the Bible?” 95 % said no. And this is disappointing. How can someone know Jesus and not read about our saviour. As I Christian, I have a lot of work to do….thanks again for this channel and this segment

It was theatrical, the pastor's wife requested a stand so she could lean on. "Linda" leaned over and told me, "She is drunk in the spirit." I wanted to disappear! I told her it wasn't what I'm looking for. I have two friends I fellowship with right now. It's bad.

The "7-Mountain Mandate" was decades before the NAR. It actually has it's roots in the Latter Reign, which Pat Robertson was big into. The NAR is a very weird Frankenstein's Monster combination of the Latter Reign Movement and 1970's /80's pentacostalism.

When I came out the occult, I was in the NAR a while, not knowing better. I remember praying to be knocked out like all these people, and oddly enough, God did not let it happen. I did end up tapping into some kundalini stuff thinking it was God, but it was so convincing.

With the times we're living in I was wondering if it's possible to be a Christian while also being depressed. I know Christ died for me and that by that I am saved but current events/politics really drag my spirit down low.
Yes Christians can struggle with depression but we must bring that to the Lord and make sure that our joy is found only in Him

One piece of advice as someone who is also struggling is to avoid politics and the news. It helped me massively.
Also, challenge the thoughts that your head is trying to convince you of. Look for evidence for these thoughts. Look into the Word about God's love for you. It helped me a lot to just google "scripture for xy" or "bible verses when you are"
If you have the ability to, look for a therapist.

Early in my walk with God I met someone who was pretty involved with nar churches. I didn't know what nar was at the time I was just fervently reading the Bible for the first time. I went to a couple events he recommended and every time I went I just knew deep down something was really off. This person would tell me about 7 mountain mandate and day he has prophetic gifts and even said doctrine that was outside of Scripture etc and every time he would tell me these things I'd say to him show it to me in the Bible and he goes silent. I've even tried to warn him about how most of the so called leaders and organizations he follows are false, but I guess he's super invested. People want to be deceived.
My story is similar to yours.
