Love seeing more historical and wierd war stuff these days. and I appreciate you leaning more into other paint lines besides GW and finding products you like.
Just wanted to say that this really inspired me to revisit my not-Krieg kill team. While I don't have these minis, the not-Kriegs were already somewhat trench-y courtesy of a Stirland Mud base, so grabbing some Valhallan Blizzard, stippling down with an old brush, and crusting parts of their coat with the remainders really added some fun dynamism that I felt they were missing. Also grabbed some Aardcoat and worked the edges of the snow and surrounding dirt/fabric to give a half-melted look. Turns out really well! Actually, having experimented as a result, I can confirm that if anyone wants a good Rasputina look on their vehicles: grab your browns, oranges, and rusts for the tracks, drybrush with some silver, and experiment layering Stirland, Valhallan, Aardcoat, and some brown washes in layers. Worked well! Tangent post? Yes. But the experimenting was inspired by what I saw here!
You really should! I can't get over just how matt it dries. It's got such a nice finish. I'm going to pick up a couple of the other new Game Color washes to see if they all perform like that.
They look great! The colors look really good and I am impressed with the Vallejo Game Color Wash. I will need to pick up a bottle of it. Thanks for sharing this.
Its a fair job now - it has to be said what with your dap, dot and smear painting style!!! Good job especially that new wash by Vallejo - that looks like it needs purchased asap to give it a try!
One of the things that I love about this channel is that I get either ideas (Ork Kommandos, elven warriors, Iron Hands) or... can see some of the paints that I'd like to use some day in action :D. Also the printed miniatures look so much better than the renders of the current stuff on MMF
It's one of the things that's always difficult about seeing a render. They just don't have quite the same presence as even a plain primed print does. Faces are the real kicker on a lot of sculpted miniatures; they'll look terrible in a render, and then you paint them... oh there's the detail! 😅
More than army's regulars these seems more a post-apocaliptic bunch, also the premise seems a little too far stretched, Russia in WWI was in less than 3 yrs literally bankrupt(either morally and economically). Naturally these minis could pass for some warlord's troops, as those that tried to gain power after tzar's fall, in a messier scenario than the original(if possible!). P.s. beautiful job, as the usual.
Just measured, the feet are actually a little too large. Feet length to height ratio is 6.6:1 These feet are 5mm long, so that would be right for a 33mm model. These are 28mm so the feet are about 1mm too long. 🤣
Thank you , Troy .

Those axeheads kinda capture the old Streltsi aesthetic.
They look super nice ! Bravo !
Hummm, vallejo wash , seems very interesting ! Thanks for the tip Mr. Sonic !
I really appreciate your highlighting of Gloom Trench. These are awesome.
These look great, very interesting minis as well. I need to give that Umber wash a try.

Great paint job, as always. I can't wait to try that wash.

It's good stuff! I'm really glad I took a shot on it.
These are pretty awesome models and I like the muted palette painting them. Going to have to save up for some of that game colour line.
Great stuff 😊 useful guide!
Cheers! I do rather like that sinister enforcer as well. :D

Now I’ve got to go out and buy a new shade ;-) am just starting a late WWII British Army and that looks just the ticket.
They look brilliant! I'll have to try that new Umber Wash from Game color, the previous version was terrible from my POV, very watery.
I had to come out of commentating retirement to tell you about Agrax Earthshade and how it will always be the greatest of all time shade.
The new formula, the usurper? I don't know... there's contenders to the throne since they messed with perfection.

they look cool and love their baynet axes. they would work well in 40k as a Guard unit/PDF.
I think I've just been sold on that Vallejo wash! LOL
Right? It's a bit magic, that!
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio Yes! It's already on it's way to me. LOL Also, that pencil "trick" - inspired!
In strange eons even death may die .
Got some good Allied there for Forbidden Psalm: The Last War.
A fair few folks mentioned Last War when the first British riflemen video went up, I'll have to check it out.
I'm curious..What are they wrapping around themselves...is it cloth...bandages ..and why?
It looks like extra padding over their uniforms. It's probably cold and wet!

Cuanto mide la mini?
Oof! Kind of grim that he has a helmet which already belonged to at least one (maybe two) other guys 🤡
I was wondering if someone would notice that... :D
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio reminded me of that opening scene in "All quiet on the western front"...
Oddly small feet on them though 🤔

Far better equipped then the current Russian army😂
