Outstanding breakdown. Thanks for going slow and not making me dizzy with fast rewinds. I know it takes a lot of production work, but these were perfectly done, and your hard work paid off for all o f us. Rock on!
Thanks Lisa!
Thank you for all the love and support!!
😎
I've watched about four of your podcasts. THIS is the BEST content yet!
As a former tennis Instructor and Coach, these kinds of breakdown videos are excellent. Very instructive. More please!
Thanks Vic!!
These breakdowns are the best! So useful. The slow motion is completely necessary to appreciate all that is happening. And hearing from Caden what he is thinking is really great. Make more of these. A lot more!
👍🏻🤙🏼😎
LOVE these breakdowns. Please keep them coming! Super helpful!
😎👍🏻
I'm watching every. single. one. of these. I think about this stuff when I play. I'm 4.5 and looking for every bit of help to get to competing in 5.0 so these are huge for me. I watched the last one and have already put some of those tips at the forefront of my mind when in recent games. Excellent stuff.
Thanks so much !!
This was extremely well narrated and analyzed! Extremely useful information! Caden is incredible as well. Wow!
Much appreciated!
Another great breakdown, very helpful. Chaining the basics back to back to make a complete play for the point. Keep ‘em coming.
👍🏻👍🏻
Love these slow motion breakdowns. Sooo helpful. Please keep them coming. Thank you.
👍🏻👍🏻
These are the best strategy instructional videos, both for the arrow slo-mo and thoughtful commenting! Thank you.
Thanks !!
These videos really help me get a better understanding of the game!! Thanks for the detailed breakdown! Looking forward to more!
👍🏻👍🏻😎
Another high-quality video! I've won the gold-medal at the German Championships last weekend at Mixed 3.5 and am looking for any information on how to improve my game now. These videos are great and do help me so much to understand thinking processes of high level players. Thanks so much for it!
Awesome!
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I agree with many other comments, this is your BEST format for teaching. Maybe some combination with your other “style”, explaining and demonstrating would be good also, but sometimes when you talk, then demo, I get confused about what I’m seeing.
Thanks !
Excellent analysis!!!!!!!! Love it. Keep showing more!
😊
these are absolutely good breakdowns!!!!!!!! Please keep them coming!
😎
These are my favorite series of your breakdowns
👍🏻
Great video breakdown guys, really appreciate the insights, these are always so helpful and interesting to see the small movements frame by frame. Keep up the good work !!!
Glad it was helpful!
You guys should make playlists for your content on your channel. Makes it easier to find great stuff like this!
Thanks Aaron!
love this so much, thank you, do more, do again, lots again of this breakdown, so helpful . thank you!
👍🏻😊
Great breakdown of these strategies and tactics. Very helpful to see these points analyzed.
Glad it was helpful!
Please keep these coming!
👍🏻
Great breakdown and awesome play Caden!
😊😊👍🏻
Great stuff! I did notice that the opponents were all over the NV zone line and foot-fault was never called.
Lol when was this
Thanks guys! These videos showing repetitive slow motion replays of points with your expert evaluations are so helpful. Keep up the great work!!
Thanks Leslie !!
@@BrionesPickleball Mahalo nui loa. Come to Kona and play with our Aloha Hui. 20 dedicated PB courts. Lots of fun! Ahui Hou! :)
Public courts ?
AWESOME! The shake & bake also looks like a great way to change sides (if you want to, and instead of stacking) and really throw off the other side. Would you plan for that before you start the point?
You can definitely “plan” a poach !
please, do more videos like this one: it is very helpful to see in slow motion and hear your explanations.
Thanks !
Great content!
Please keep doing more like this.
👍🏻👍🏻
@BrionesPickleball question: Instead of resetting the balls, why wasn't Pesa aggressive on those balls? The balls seem to be between yellow and green zones.
I ask because I just played a 4.0 tourney, and most of them were using aggressive volley from the transition zone.
Hi Jordan and Caden, love the videos. I am in the process of opening an indoor pickleball only facility in Massachusetts. I am looking at different court surfaces and wanted to know what you thought of the Pickleroll court that you are playing on in this video. They look great and I am leaning towards getting them for our facility.
thanks
Scott Sargent
Awesome!
That’s a great option.
Awesome breakdown, thanks so much!
Np !
Love these breakdowns! Keep them coming! Also love the idea of breaking down ameture games, looking forward to that!
Glad you like them!
Love these breakdowns, keep them coming 😊
👍🏻👍🏻
Great disection of the play!
Thanks!
Another great video from Jordan.
Thanks!
Thanks so much for sharing these. Really appreciate it. Great plays btw 😮😃👍👍
👍🏻😎
Wow, Caden, super cool play!
😎
I like point "breakdowns" like this. What I noticed Pesa staying at the baseline while Caden left the whole left side open in the first breakdown.
👍🏻
For preventing the shake and bake, would hitting a deep return to the server or the server's partner be better (this is for rec play)?
No matter who you return to, the other player can technically poach on the 5th shot. The key is to practice your 4th shot (volley), and keep it low and/or away from the middle of the court.
Very well done guys
Thanks !
Amazing video!
Thanks!
The first point...who should take it seems obvious but not mentioned...Caden has to back away from the ball whereas Pesa has to step into the ball to hit. Which player would be in a better to position to hit any shot, not just a drive? The one stepping in and not backing up. It seems to me that the better players would just pick up on this movement naturally and so it would be obvious to them almost as soon as the ball leaves the opponent's paddle on the other side of the net. I also like the idea that if the decision is a "tie" then the player who can take it earlier should to put more pressure on the opponents (by taking away time).
It’s always situational. The first point Pesa is hitting off the back foot and not stepping in. Lol
Derek (below) said it perfectly! Ditto! (except 4.0 aspiring to 4.5) :)
Thanks for the comment
Love this! Much appreciated!
You're so welcome!
Please do more videos like this.
👍🏻
Hi Jordan, do you know of any coach in the Austin, Texas area you would recommend for training. Thank!
Sorry, I don’t have any at this time.!
5:00 - this is big. if you want to get better too, you need to be able to not get discouraged when you miss the poach or lose the point because of poor execution. this then makes you tentative and lose out
👍🏻👍🏻
Great breakdowns thank u
Np!
Thanks guys.
You bet!
Send me more of this type of video!
😊
Can you do a video on how to get my male partner back into the point in mixed doubles? I play with my male partner in tournaments and obviously as the woman get targeted and literally can’t get him into the point because they only hit to me and he gets no touches
Thanks for the comment. In short, you have to be able to move around your dinks and not be afraid to attack or dink towards the other guy.
Love this!
Thanks !
❤ the breakdown of the poach but with 2 righties I think the left side player would have taken that 3rd shot. Having a leftie created this particular situation. Totally agree that you have to totally commit to the poach. You leave a lot of court open if your poach isn't successful.
Thanks for watching !
...also on the poach, I'm sure he knew that his partner was driving to that side to put pressure while they were unwinding the stack
Good analysis video 💪
👍🏻😎
Kyle have a right foot fault on his last shot?
Maybe 🤔
And YES please do this with amateur 3.0 and up.
😊👍🏻
Newcomer question…Doesn’t the second shot have to bounce too?
Yes
Sorry. Just realized that they served first…😂
Great breakdown! Thanks!
Awesome break down and good strategy, thank you guys.
Do these kind of videos more @briones
Sure thing!
3:20 hey Nemoff, why are you using semi-western? Briones says that doesn't work.
He uses continental.
Oh sorry about that, I guess my eyes are lying to me.
Ernie of the year - Wow, wait till the boys at club see me do this one ha :)
Lol
I would have lobbed it to the middle or bottom left then drop volley of possible.
Nice
5 stars
⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👍🏻
Same strategy works in ping pong.
😎
Shake and Bake video.
👍🏻
👍
🤙🏼🤙🏼
In your fake poach you did not sell it enough, wait till his head starts going down before you move back.
Lol
P. hit the drive on his backfoot then stepped BACKward to about 6' behind the baseline -- had the poach not been a winner, acres of open court to block into behind Cayden. Looks like a bad decision 3rd with a lucky outcome due to Cayden's athleticism & anticipation.
Definitely not lucky.
1. Pesa was looking for a shorter return to step in and drive.
2. Return was fairly deep, so he had to adjust.
3. Drive target is key, as you can see it was towards Craig’s dominant side.
4. Caden made a good read and good poach.
5. If Craig happened to hit a better punch volley, Caden may have let it go, and Pesa would have just hit a 5th shot drop. And then they would have got to the kitchen line.
6. Every situation is different, sometimes you may lean back on a drive, make the wrong read, or miss the ball completely. The pros practice over and over again, and they may miss or make a wrong read sometimes. All in all, this was a great play, and is a good example of what a poach can look like. Again, every single situation is different, and good players adjust during the play, and will adjust strategy and positioning on the next play.
Sorry fellas for the spelling. Great analyses, awesome vids.
My brain hurts from you playing the 5 second clip too many times
Lol
Stop saying "again" so often
?
Good idea, but 20min to talk about 2 game point, wayyyyyyy tooooooo long.....
Lol. You don’t have to watch it if you don’t want to
@@BrionesPickleball you ask for feedback, but you cant deal with it?? Strange.
But once again, the idea is verry good, but more then 5 min on 1-2 game point, you dont think it s too long ?
too slow
Lol
This play is wrong! You never see Collin Johns running to the net to shake and bake. So many times people smack that drive back behind the poacher. If you want to be 5.0 play like this. You want to be top pro, slow down coming to the net.
Lol. The real “pros” use this play all the time, including Ben Johns.
@@BrionesPickleball no show me one replay where Ben runs to the net like these guys in this video did. Once in a blue moon. Never see it from Collin right or wrong?
@@BrionesPickleball any drive that gets drove at me I’ll smack it back, whether it’s to my BH FH or body. I suppose it depends who u r playing. But you’ll never try to shake and bake Collin as a strategy to win. So if it can’t beat the best, then why try and learn it?
Have you seen Ben play mixed doubles? Lol. To say that he never shakes and bakes, is ignorant. Also, it doesn’t have to look EXACTLY like this. This is just an example. Lastly, when he plays with his brother, they usually don’t have to ever do this. Why? Because they can beat everyone from the kitchen line. Watch more mixed and mens pro doubles, and you’ll see more poaches. As the game evolves, we’ll see more and more.
Also, mixing in plays like this may be the only way to beat the Johns.
