So what do you do if you're out someplace and your friend is starting to feel faint. So, Hannah and I are having a good time and all of a sudden she starts to feel faint. If you are with her and she can feel it. You can feel the tunnel vision. You can feel things getting gray. Sometimes you feel like you can't hear as well, it's kind of cloudy. You can tell your friend. Hannah can tell me, "Hey I'm not feeling so good. I'm not feeling so hot. Something is going on." Don't put them in a chair that has no arms because they'll far right out of it. If you are near a wall and they start to feel like, ooh, I'm not going to make it, you can lean the person up against the wall and help the person slide down. Okay. So Hannah, you're going to faint and I'm going to help you down. Get the person close to your body as you can, because you have control of this and you don't want to be reaching around. If their head start to go side to side, put their head on your shoulder. And then you're just going to go down together to your knees, and then you're going to just lay her down. There you go. Always be careful of their head. I know you saw Hannah. Hannah has control of herself right now. But, you really want to make sure their head doesn't hit the ground hard. Then you're going to want to go into recovery position. So, you're going to bend and just kind of roll it over. That way if she has any fluids or if she's vomiting, everything can kind of roll out of her mouth and she won't choke on it. If you have access to any kind of cold compresses, ice, cool clothes, you want to do that. Put it on their forehead and behind their neck. Keep them down for a little bit and then slowly get them up. You do it little by little. There's no race. You just slowly help them up. You can go underneath the arm and have them, and then just have them sit for a little bit. Make sure they're okay. They may start to feel faint again, and if they do, you just roll them right back. You just nice and easy, there you go. And the same thing over to the side. If they continue to faint, you're going to want to call for help because something else could be going on. Oftentimes, whatever's going on will resolve itself after you have the person down and they've recovered. Sometimes it won't. You need to look for other things. You need to make sure that they're breathing. You need to make sure that they have a pulse. Sometimes people have other medical conditions that you don't know about that could interfere with what's going on with their consciousness. So, you're going to need to call for help. Call 911. Call out for someone to call for 911, and stay on the line with the dispatcher. If they stop breathing or if you don't feel a pulse, you're going to want to start CPR. The dispatcher can help you and walk you through what you need to do until help arrives.

It’s not getting blood flow back into the brain to regain consciousness, it’s the stimulation of the action. It’s been disproven that it helps people regain consciousness, but it never hurts to try unless fluid is leaving the mouth.

I fainted a home once because I hadn't eaten much and I was stressed and sick. I was in the hallway and everything was getting blurry and I thought it was just because I was light headed from being sick. That's when I went out cold.

Hmm this might be helpful, except i'm the one that passed out in the kitchen a couple days ago.. Luckily my mom was right there talking to me when it happened. She said one moment I was standing there talking and the next just flopped on the floor and started to violently shiver for a few seconds. All I remember was coming to and looking up at my mom from the floor wondering why I was on the floor in the first place. And boy was the sunlight coming in through the windows bright.
Shortly after that I passed out again and then the next thing I remember I was being hauled out of the house by the paramedics. Apparently my regular usage of energy drinks caused my blood pressure to plummet plus I was a little dehydrated. (I'd usually have 1 drink a day) I don't think I'll touch an energy drink again.. waking up with tubes in your arm and a bunch of wires glued to you isn't any fun, nor is uncontrollable body tremors/shivering or whatever it would be called, I wasn't cold so I dunno. I couldn't stop shaking for almost an hour after they had the IV in me.
Now I just hope I don't have any underlying problems, and this was just an isolated incident..

This helps a lot actually. Now I know what to do in certain situations. I actually fainted twice before.. the worst one happened a month ago. I was in a woodworking class in high school and the teacher brought us over to a thing called the "band saw" to talk about an incident that happened. I guess I don't like it when people talk about injuries or blood. One moment I was standing, the next I woke up staring at the ceiling. The paramedics came and I went in an ambulance to the hospital. It was scary. Apparently I fell straight back and hit my head hard on the floor. People apparently heard my head smack on the floor. 0_0

As my siblings were getting it done I was panicked in the corner of the room and I passed out and hit my head on a metal stool. 30 mins ago, I'd been in the situation where a person was faint while I was going to work. Admittedly, I am quite afriad if I could really assist with the correct first stage of treatment. As her friend shouted for help and informed to be epilepsy. I, then, asked her friend to find something for the girl who got sympton. Later, I found out she was absolutely faint. I am feeling embarrased to myself for not helping much. Fortunately, the situation was occured around the hospital. So, I have to recurrently watch the correct First Aid instruction one. Now, I'm revised! *Appreciated*

    @ELPaso1990TX 9 лет назад

    @ Go Base
Feeling faint with anxiety/ panic attack is completely the opposite to feeling faint due to low blood pressure, low heart rate, low blood sugar, dehydration etc.
When you have a panic attack your blood pressure is actually high and so is your heart rate. You liver is releasing extra sugar to power your muscles to run, its all part of the flight and fight response. You feel dizzy and weird because you have too much oxygen in your blood and too little C02. Your mind feels dulled because all priority is going to the flight and fight reaction centre of your mind.
You feel detached from the world around you. Have you ever noticed a cat that is spooked by another cat? It will stay there frozen and tail bushed up and not even notice your presence. It's the flight and fight response that has dulled its mind and made it oblivious to the world around it so it concentrates on the danger in front of it.
In reality you will not faint with a panic attack, no matter how much you think that you will.
Sitting down and putting your head between your knees is only a safety behavior that will calm you down. The thing with panic for no reason is to face it and loose fear of it.
Sometimes people eg medical students will faint at sight of blood. But that's blood phobia and is the only type of fear/anxiety that results in blood pressure falling. It's an ancient primeval mechanism to prevent blood loss.
Finally have you seen movies where people are admitted to the ER thinking they are having a massive heart attack only for the doctor to takes tests and find everything is ok and they are perfectly healthy. Then tell them they had a panic attack?
Instead when you feel anxious or have a panic attack think about the awe of human physiology and the flight and fight response millions of years of evolution. But one thing is certain unless you have blood phobia you will not faint or have heart attack, stroke etc, unless you do have a real heart condition, or liver failure.

I just fainted in my bedroom after I stood up quite fast after laying down for quite a while. I couldn't see anything apart from little dots and when I "woke up" I was on the floor with a bashed head... Does anyone know what this is?

But I’ve heard that you aren’t supposed to sit up after fainting, you should lay down and rest but the doctor/idk who that’s watching needs to check if your breathing 😉

I semi passed out after I cracked my head open when I was about 12. I say semi cause I never lost consciousness, I just couldn't stand, couldn't feel my legs at all. My dad was telling me to stand up (he caught me when I fell) and I had to tell him I couldn't. Super scary!

I almost fainted for standing still for too long twice. My vision started to become all blurry and bright my ears were slightly ringing and couldnt hear much. Till the song ended i sat and felt a little better. Second time i was a altar server i had to hold the candle and my friend was holding the cross we both almost fainted.

I know with anxiety attacks people sometimes feel very faint, tunnel vision, dizzy, weak etc, but they don't actually faint sometimes they even run from the stressful situation and feel ok after. So how's it possible to have the energy to run if your gonna faint?

I've had those same attacks before and it's weird... Ur about to faint but u never do . And u just wanna run away but still about to faint but never do.. It's fucking scary I haven't had a panic attack ever since I STOPPED taking those fucking anti depressents the doctors would perscribe for me for 5 years... Never take those piils they only make ur panic attacks worse.. 3 years now and not one single panic attack.. Took about 6 months to get off of Xanax though. Horrible withdrawals

I fainted once right after donating blood. Just as I put my elbow on the table and palm to my forehead, everything went black. I started to hear something in the distance "cough! Cough!" So i tried to cough. The more i did the more it, the louder it sounded and the black became gray then white then clear. That worked! They also had my feet elevated. I don't think i hit my head and i think it was all a matter of seconds, but i do know that i was on the ground with 3 people around me. One was holding my head, one my feet and the other to my right side.

    • @deadpoolgaming8161

      (I am not a doctor)
ask them if they are okay, (you can yell and shake their head),,,
try to listen if they are breathing by keeping your ears close to their nose for 10 seconds, and look for their pulse, if they are breathing then change their position into recovery position, and if they are not breathing then go for CPR, remember gasping does not mean they are breathing, they need cpr
