BrosReact0151 Way too many stoppages. Others donβt do that in their reaction videos. Ruins the enjoyment of the song.
@@karagi101 YES! They have TO STOP this because no other reviewers do this many stops on any of their channels. NOT MANY of the others have stopped it through this song. So NO it's not an issue with the rights usage for RUclips yk? It's ridiculous that just three lines INTO the lyrics of this song was the first stop with this video. I'm a new subscriber here and watch about 8 others and in thr jast few mknths I've been thinking about leaving and really am starting to regret telling my friends cuz all I've hearing back IS how they keep starting and stopping. No review should take longer than 10 minutes wuth the exception of like Freebird yk? No Life Shaq, Jayvee, and the Matthews Family just to name 3 of my other channel's dont do this off the top of my head. Thats why ube neeb wugh thrm longer. I LIKE these kids a lot but theres ni reason to ROLL BACK a video cux you sneezed either c'mon now. π£
Christine Gelabert I unsubscribed. There are too many better ones out there to waste time with these guys.
You must know the story of the lady singer. That's Merry Clayton. She was virtually an unknown, before this..She was in bed, at home pregnant, curlers in her hair, and received a called in the middle of the night from the Stones, to come in right then..She almost said no, because she really didn't know who they were, and was tired..She relented, and they sent a car around. Came in, Curlers and all...She didn't care for the lyrics, "Rape", "Murder", but she sang them anyway..She did one take, and Jagger asked if she wanted to do another..She said sure..But then she thought to herself that she was going to blow them out of the studio, which she did, and the rest is Rock 'n' roll history.
The sad ending to the story is that she miscarried later that night....some firmly believe from the force of her performance earlier that evening.
@@moorr4473 Even sadder story is that an Oscar winning documentary about her and other famous back singers was released around 2013 and reignited her career. Unfortunately soon after she was in a near fatal car accident and lost both her legs and sadly has made no public appearances since
Here it is! The obligatory- pretending to knew who Mary Clinton was before you watched this. I see you... I want you to know that..you are obvious.
@@thomasmills339 Was that directed at me?..If it was I'm 64 yrs. old, and remember when this song came out. I've been listening to the Stones as far back as my memory goes..And, it's not Mary Clinton. it's Merry Clayton, and NOT a name unfamiliar to me one bit..Guess it's the first time you've heard it though, huh?
The female singer background vocals is the legendary singer Merry Clayton & love how her voice cracks
Soundtrack for the Apocalypse. Fifty years later the song still gives me chills.
Merry Clayton backing singer
One of the most famous 'backing vocal' performancers ever.
Greatest background vocals in rock n roll history! That's just my opinion of course.
I share your opinion.
this song always gives me goosebumps.
You have great taste in music This song gives me goosebumps as well. It's one of my favs from this band.
This song brings me to tears Everytime
Check out Rolling Stones Sympathy for the Devil next
There is a fire black girl!!!! Sam is right! Oh and the song speaks of war and how fragile can be started with just one shot. But adversely love is just as close it's only a kiss away. Just as easy to make peace.
About the Vietnam war....but would hold true of any war. Just as war is just a shot away, so could peace be just a kiss away. Mary Clayton is singing backup.
Paint it Black is another burner from their huge catalog. This was quite influential as a wake-up call to be aware of we control our destiny
The woman's name is Mary Clayton, her agent called her up late one night and said there was some English group coming to the studio to record while they were touring America, she went in to sing and they loved the part when her voice cracked so they kept it in the song!
Merry..not Mary...
@@davidhoward2487 Yes that's correct, it must have auto corrected.
War is always "just a shot away", in the sense that every war begins with someone firing the first shot
"Gimme Shelter"
Vault Tec "hold our beer".
Are you kidding? This is an epic piece by the Stones -- one that made them the utter montrosity they are today. What kind of people can pull off something like this?
Well done. Now do yourself a favor and check out:
Chicago Live at Tanglewood 25 or 6 to 4 1970.
Okay boys.....some of the greatest rock n roll came out of the UK!!!! Time to go on a magical mystery tour!!! You'll love it!!!π€ππΌπΆπ΅π
Rolling Stones in the studio is a whole lot different from the Stones live. They have been called "The World's Best Rock 'n' Roll Band". They are on tour NOW. Yes, NOW! Mick just got a new heart valve, and nobody can figure out why and how Keith Richards is still alive. You absolutely must react to a live video. Maroon 5's Adam Levine had a hit with "Moves Like Jagger".That's Merry Clayton on back-up vocal! Mick Jagger is one of the best showmen ever. Try ruclips.net/video/oBlLbNVBKCc/Π²ΠΈΠ΄Π΅ΠΎ.html
Except we've now lost Charlie...R.I.P.....
Best reaction video. You guys hit it right especially with the lyrics.
Just found your channel, damn....i love your accent ππ
I'm physically unable to understand why anyone older than 15 has never heard this song.i...i stutter
Great song, great reaction from you two. Rock On!
Great reaction boys
good vid, love the lyrics presentation
But love is just a kiss away lol
Dang! You guys gotta listen to more Stones!
Merry Clayton, was a Gospel singer from the States. Not sure how the Stones hooked up with her. Originally her singing was edited due to content.
Watch the documentary βTwenty Feet from Fameβ. She is featured in the movie and she talks about singing on this song and how she got the job.
She was a very famous backing singer. Her voice is actually on a lot of songs from the 60s
@@popland1977 background singers and musicians from that time were not often credited for their work. Its possible, dont really hear anything from her until after the Stones performance. I believe the Stones toured with her briefly. I think her or her family had some medical issues at the time.
This song is about the war in Vietnam. It's made better with the outstanding backing vocals of Merry Clayton. She was called into the studio late after midnight and she arrived to do the backing vocals still in her pyjamas and rollers in her hair whilst being heavily pregnant.
You guys are from Liverpool, you should react to The Beatles
The message (and warning) is timeless but this was an anti Vietnam War song.
Brilliant review, by the way.
The beginning of the song always gives me the chilling effect of pending doom. Very powerful!
It is a women doing the background vocals and her name is Merry Clayton.
There were a lot of personnel involved in making this. Before this recording White Rock Rollers from England particularly discovered that black women with powerful gospel and blues voices blended well with their music . This guest Vocalist is Mary Anne Clayton and she adds something extra special to Gimme Shelter , a song that would go on to be a timeless Masterpiece.
Merry ..not Mary....
@@davidhoward2487 Okay you are right . I get it . You have a natural air wick in your behind and when you do number 2 ?
Or go for You Canβt Always Get What You Want next, but try to get the full version rather than the single edit.
Indeed!
The song lyrics are about the Vietnam War and all the atrocities that took place. The lyrics speak for themself.
More than that. Much more.
Imagine if this song is recorded today?
You didn't just say "the main guy is Mike Jagger" did you? Say it ain't so bro, say it ain't so?
Should I mention Playing For Change has a dynamite version of this timely tune?
you havn't heard any Stones songs? Have you been living under a damn rock?
The horrors of war are just one bullet away so we need safety
You guys sounds like being from the UK ,am I right? Never heard the Stones,,,,uau
yes you are right, from u.k Liverpool
@@BrosReact0151 Cool.mates there are lots of Stones great songs. Keep it up. Almost forgot ...next time you guys face ny team Flamengo watch out...LoL Cheers from Rio ,Brazil
Hard to appreciate a song when you keep stopping to say nothing important. Just listen to it and discuss after! What youβre going to say will not add to or be as Important as a song like this, you have to take it all in at once.
They have to stop otherwise RUclips start banging on about copyright and sometimes even remove the video
And here's the Stones playing (miming the instruments, but Mick Jagger is singing) it on the telly at the time it was released: ruclips.net/video/SBva-z1AsGk/Π²ΠΈΠ΄Π΅ΠΎ.html
There is a woman singing along with mick jagger, then u have Keith Richards guitarist, Ronnie wood guitarist, Charlie watts drummer, and as of now and 30 some years on bass Daryl Jones. Ither members gone or passed away, Brian Jones, and mick Taylor, and bill wyman, and bobby keys ,ian stewart
Ronnie Wood was not on this track...
@@Pokafalva i know they asked who was in the band! I know it was brian jones
@@wslvingtsun6768 All the guitars on this track were Keith Richards.
@@Pokafalva ok my point is,they asked who was in the band,i cant remember all the ppl who played on every record lol i used to many chemicals lol. But check out Edward bernays, father of public relations, it will show u something more important. But i know keef played alot on the record, and also on some didn't play much lol i know jimmy Paige played in one hit yo the body! Lol stay safe my brother, and thnks for giving me that info,i didn't know they cut this with only keefs guitar.
@@Pokafalva keef loves cutting put Ronnies guitar, lol i think hes a big prankster and kid at heart. Coolest guy in planet love the stones amd keef
I always think this song is about the Germans retreating from Russia back to Germany in WW2
OMG stop interrupting every second. You're destroying the song!
Its about WAR VIETNAM !!! And WW11
Black American kids in the middle of nowhere understand this song more than this pair.
You guys are stopping too often now and singing along is a big crime when reacting - get it together.
The woman (Mery Clayton) had a miscarriage from singing this.
NOHOPEFORHUMANITY Oh itβs true. Seriously, theyβre not joking. Look it up.
Itβs so true. Goggle her. Merry Clayton. She tells the story. Sheβs bomb!
Listen to Grand Funk version
