Me too and it seems like there’s very few of us that think this. I played the AC games because I enjoyed the stealthy, assassination theme of it. Now, it’s literally you playing a mercenary who’s only interest is money and family, when in the originals it was the whole Templar vs Assassins and the importance of the Artifacts. Not to mention that I LOVED being able to exit the animus and play as Desmond and even fight as Desmond. Now, you’re just Ayla who rarely leaves the animus, AND there isn’t even a button anymore to leave the animus at will. It’s very sad and depressing honestly how much it’s changed. I understand that games evolve and people’s tastes change, but they should at least keep it to the same storyline and theme overall. I’m not saying they aren’t great games because I’ve put over 50+ hours into them, I just miss the old stuff 😕
I didn't buy Odyssey because of the lack of hidden blade. The blade that makes AC series different from every other game; the blade which marks stealth for an assassin, GONE. Doesn't make sense. Unless they're willing to go back to something like Revelations, I'm not buying this. Shitty story, altered gameplay and boring characters. I enjoyed AC Origins, given I could still be a stealthy Assassin most of the time. This game however seems like the end of the series in terms of creativity and story telling.

However I play Odyssey and Origins because I still love the AC franchise and the story of the animus and (attempting) to keep it stealthy it’s still a great game as in being able to choose your play style, who you want your character to be traits-wise is a good touch, but I do think two core elements are the hidden blade and the AssassinsCreed symbol and now that those are gone, it just doesn’t feel the same. 😕

AC Origins was developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the same studio that developed most of Assassin's Creed games including Ezio's trilogy, AC3, Black Flag, Unity. And AC Odyssey was developed by Ubisoft Quebec, the same studio that developed Assassin's Creed Syndicate.

blususpect The bows were more unique but the mechanics for aiming are way more fluid in Odyssey. It was much easier to aim with right analog in Odyssey. In Origins I found myself aiming more by moving Bayek side to side with the left analog.

Alexios/ kassandra are both cool and all. But Bayek had something special. He was a great character, and had great charisma. We need a sequel, and I think maybe we can have one in Rome, right after the Hidden Ones DLC.
on the other hand Odyssey keeps giving my Kassandra the same fucking Athenian Tassets and Mercenary Gauntlets lmao. Then again there weren't as many outfits in Origins either, so I suppose variety vs depth. The big-deal gear in Odyssey looks fantastic, however.

Origins had so much more of emotional depth, when I hear the theme music I get emotional, because I felt like I had experienced all the suffering together with Bayek. The character was so much more authentic and had a warrior-like personality. Origins will forever be my favourite.
Lord Nexus But Bayek is so much more then a battle hardened warrior. I think he had a lovable personality and always had a smile on his face talking to ordinary not bad guy people. And you could see how close he was to his son.

@@supervegettox24 No origins is actually better.. origins character had better facial motion capture and animations. Odyssey was just just automatic facial animation, that's why Odyssey looked very generic.
I mean Odyssey looks absolutely amazing and everything, but there was just something about Origins that felt so much more.. _magic_ to me, more ominous. Maybe it's just something about desert settings that resonates better with me or something, but I honestly wouldn't see the point in buying this game when you already have the last one. Origins is really all we need until they take the time off yearly releases again to make one set in feudal Japan or something.
I honestly thought origins was subpar at best. Odyssey has me gripped from the very beginning. Everything about it just seems more natural. I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be as good. I much prefer Origins. I love Greek history but this game leaves me cold. The atmosphere and general setting of Origins was far better. Should have given Bayek a sequel.
Sucked so bad they basically repackaged it and added a stripped down version of piracy from AC4. The general armour in Odyssey sucks too. I found the story more engaging in Origins, but to be fair I'm not that far into the story in Odyssey so I hope it improves.
Honestly Black Flag was the best one by far. Origins is alright, although like 90% of NPC voices are Greek instead of Egyptian. I get it that lots of Greeks were living in Mesogeian parts of Egypt but this is too much.
I haven’t finished both games but I’m currently 36 hours in origins and 19 in odyssey and so far I like odyssey better, I don’t know if it’s the details or the characters or the story, both games make me feel like I am there but odyssey just makes me a tad immersed when it comes to doing basic stuff, I would say that somethings annoy me more in odyssey than origins like goddamn wolves and civilians attacking you non stop but I dunno I just like Odyssey better

The engine and back-end systems were produced by the same in-house team for both games. Both games were actually in development by the same internal studios at the same time.
I don't recall such things in Origins, but in Oddysey there are some details that looks unfinished. Fire is looking really bad, but fire / lava effects during fight with one of cyclops is even worse, like from 2010 game at best. I've also seen hanged bodies that looks like ragdolls. And managed to fall beneath map surface.
I like the graphics in both games. The nicest touch in Odyssey I guess, is the breaking of the waves on the beach - It looks quite realistic and pretty. I don't recall Origins to have this effect. Apart from that - and apart from their entirely different setting of course - otherwise they are both great looking games.
I can see why people might think the water is nicer in Odyssey than in Origins, and they'd be right. But not because of better graphics. While Greece is more on a coast next to the clean ocean. Egypt is more in land and the water consists of muddy rivers and lakes.
To be honest, both games are really fascinating in their own ways and I'm amazed by both of their ancient atmospheres ! Origins story and Bayek draws you in the game more than Odyssey and the naval gameplay and the skillset. As for the mythological creatures I loved them both !

I almost beat Origins and I'm a 1/3 of the way into Odyssey. In my opinion Origins has better graphics, Odyssey is beautiful and colorful but I noticed it takes a while for the vegetation to render when you get close to it.
Origins all the way. They couldve just made a sequel with bayek in sparta. That's where he discovers the birth of the Templars. Nope. Instead we got a shield-less 300 game with supernatural artifacts and no assassins
I was expecting more about the beginning of the Templars. Of course Alexios/Kassandra aren't Assassins, since Aya/Amunet is the first Assassin, *SPOILER* but at the end there's not much but a cult that you defeated. Nothing about how the Templars still arised from this Cult or who or what the Father of Understanding is. It feels like a complete Standalone with a little similarity due to the secret cult of cosmos organisation and the Isu. I hope the next AC brings in more connection to the whole thing again.
@@markonacfan4579 I haven't played either one yet. From this footage, I see that the running animation looks a bit awkward in Odyssey, versus a running animation which flows smoother in Origins. I don't think that would be the case for all scenarios. But I wanted to ask for your input, on whether it's different throughout both games.
The fighting bit are equally good, but I see what you mean, subject_17, it's the running animation in Odyssey that gives me the feeling of stiffness. Bayek runs more naturally, and cooler.
Agreed, less grinding for sure. I got to level 28 in Origins fast, but in Odyssey, it took me a long time to get to level 12. But i personally like the story of Odyssey better.

I'd say the animations and npc's in Origins are better aswell. I actually just looked at this today. Random bandit NPCs in Origins have just as much detail to them as Bayek himself, while in Odyssey it's almost 100% robes and ropes.
Bayek has such emotions that he acted greatly, Honestly when his voice acting comes to being emotional in game he does one of the best voice acting for an AC game or the best, Bayek went through hecka. So on alex/kass but honestly. Alex And kass seems to be sarcastic a bit and doesn’t take the game as an AC game or a great way of meeting historical expectations

I think you shuild have gone to the green mountains in assassins creed origins and cyrene for a better comparison, because the green mountain area looks like its right out of odyssey to me.
Before Origins, I'd never made it all the way through an AC story. Not sure why, but they always got so repetitive. I am so thankful for the direction they've taken the series. I am obsessed with Origins and Odyssey!

They kill everyone in the cult and Aspacia forms the Order of Ancients (If you killed Aspacia someone else will form the Order of Ancients) because there must be balance. The Hidden Ones were formed by Bayek and Aya to fight them because they were oppressing Egypt. The Ancient Ones became Templars and The Hidden Ones became Assassins over time. Bayek and Aya aren't related to Bayek either.
As someone who has played this on max settings 3440x1440 Ultrawide, I can assure you that if you had to pick between either these two you should DEFINITELY go with Origins. Odyssey, in my opinion, is nothing more but the same game origins was but in a different setting and some changes to the combat. But that's about it. Origins was refreshing, new, the combat was totally different to what we were used to, the graphics were beautiful especially on PC, the story was FINALLY good and it felt a bit like a new era was about to start. I honestly thought this would replace the entire Ezio trilogy, im so sad it didnt happen because Bayek had a great story and so much potential going. And graphics compared I'd say origins, the graphics on odyssey are a bit more refined but origins is just a more natural, more beautiful and soothening area to play in.
Origins and Odyssey are games you can group together. SInce I played Origins first, I liked it. But If one has played Odyssey before Origins, I can them preferring that. Origins was the first game to transform AC into next gen. I was expecting a better story thoThe setting alone makes Origins my preference. I've had enough of greenery and water. Saw plenty of that in W3. The sand was a nice change of pace and refreshing. Exploring the ruins in Egypt at night is too hard to resist

There's something graphically that doesn't seem right about odessey. It kinda reminds me of Elder Scrolls Online. The animations seem a bit stiffer than in origins and it seems a bit more plasticy to me
I really like odessey, you can make your own decisions and choose what to do in certain situations. i love the dialogue interaction its great. The map is beautiful and for me the story itself its really interesting, but, origins its just better in my opinion, it feels more like an assassin creed and i think they really implement well the Egypt theme, the colors and the story are great. My problem with odessey is you have to do TOOO MUCH secondary missions and it really gets annoying at one point, its constantly requested for you to upgrade your level and it gets tiring. Lets say you just passed from level 22 to 25 complete the mission requested for that level, then you need to keep upgrading right after you completed THAT mission, theres not another primary mission that request the same level, The secondary missions are boring too, nothing too special (go find this or kill this person) and in Origins secondary missions are also a request but is not that constantly and its not that hard to upgrade the level. The missions are not the same also, so its a pretty entertaining game. I didn’t finish odessey for that reason, i don’t think I’ll ever will, its just a waste of time and no progress, i think Origins is better.
I bought the XP and Drachmae boost, which gives you 50% extra on both and after that I enjoyed the game a lot more. you stroll through the game with a much better flow because you don't have to turn every stone just to get xp

When origins came out it became a straight classic, odyssey was good but only average. The character odyssey is cartoonish and in origins its more serious and feels more like an AC game from the core. Bayek is such a badass.
Assassins Creed games are usually all good. But a few definitely stand out from the rest. Like Black Flags and Origins and of course some of the Ezio games. I miss Black Flags tbh. That needs a remake. And I’d love to see a Origins sequel. Both great games
nah black flag doesn't need a remaster. it already looks better than *most* modern games if you play it on PC on ultra settings. they should just port it to the ps5 when that comes out so that console gamers can play it at those settings :) . it was such a good game.
I'm enjoying Odyssey, but I feel like aside from the combat Origins was a better game, at least in my opinion. Some thoughts: - I think Odyssey's best mechanic is the ship aspect, which feels like a simplified version of Black Flag's ship system. - I feel like the game lacks atmosphere, and almost doesn't take itself seriously. Is this just me? - The game does compete with Origins in most other aspects except for the story. The voice acting and narrative structure in Odyssey is borderline laughable. Whereas the character development/arcs, story telling, acting etc was brilliantly executed in Origins. Overall Odyssey is a worthy installment in the series. Though I really hope the Black Flag/Origins team are working on a Bayek Sequel.
I also like the ship, but you can't really make it like in black flag because the ships were not as advanced back then. And you can't make it no arcadey because that would be too much
They should just take the ac name out and make a franchise full on mythology like come on what's better than the gods of Olympus ,the Egyptian gods and pharaohs but we all know they won't because if you put the assassins creed label on a game almost every fan will buy it

Alexios feels flat as a character. I loved bayek he always made me chuckle a little. And completing the star stones and going back to siwa woo talk about a feels trip
There’s something about the players movement/motion in odyssey... looks very very dated and stiff. Like your character is steering a treadmill everywhere.
I actually fell in love to Odyssey, the last time I really enjoy a AC game was back to Syndicate, Origin is good too, but I think I prefer Odyssey. Still early in the game, my only complain now is that I hope they'll patch us the option to choose to show our headgear on even during cutscenes.
I've played most AC games but I feel origins is the best, it was so massive and detail that it was scary. Don't get me wrong they dropped the ball in a few area's but bayek had a lot of personality and the world looked fantastic. So fantastic that most nights I just wondered around Egypt looking at shit. All the guard towers looked different all the Egyptian lore and color's were unreal. I think origins had the best looking and most detailed open world ever in a video game... Ever!
I'm really liking Odyssey so far, but there are a few things that I like more about Origins. For some reason the sense of discovery just doesn't feel the same, maybe I haven't played Odyssey enough yet, but Origins felt more fun to explore. The combat is very similar, but I like Origins much better, I'm a basic sword and shield guy, and never go for dual wielding, that's always my least favorite combat style, but now in Odyssey there are no shields, and it's mostly dual wielding. I don't like that they gave the choice of character. I can tell that some of the dialogue and character building has lost some quality and personality due to having to accommodate the game to two different people. While they may basically be the same, the world and other characters and the way people act have lost a certain quality.

Origins: avenging your son, betrayals, war elephants, gods, fun tombs, fun combat, good movement animations, actually an assasin with a hidden blade so the endind of origins tells the actual origins of assasins(the hidden ones). Odyssey: some mercenaries, no hidden blade, no shield, hitting an enemy with an arrow looks like he was hit by a catapult, not fun assasinations, bad movement, ships are good though.
I just wish I had a shield in Odyssey. I don’t mind the other imperfections and even some downgrades, I just want my shield back. The enemy doesn’t have to break my defense but I have to break theirs? Not cool. Not to mention immersion being totally broken. I hope the fan base pulls together and we can get a shield update in the future, not likely but I’ll still hope for it.

St Matteos Agreed. Not only Sparta but all of Greece used shields as a part of their primary style of combat, as a majority most of them fought in the hoplite style which is useless without a shield.
yehh personally thats the only thing making me reallly wanna love odyssey. in orgins the shield rush and counter were my bread and butter. made combat soo smoove. and just the fact of a spartian without a shield option at least is laughable to me.
It depends on the perspective of gamer. Of u want to experience a Egypt during Alexander u must go for ac origins but if u love Greek mythology and mythical creatures then u must go for ac Odyssey
Agreed. Of course combat, graphic, control differences are also important but I think gamers get more immersed and love a certain title mostly depending on their preference over history/fantasy .. these emotional stuff
Yeah. I wish I could minimize that. Every time Bayek jumps off a cliff and lands with extremely low damage, he's covered head to toe in blood in my game. Eventually it gets really annoying because I get way too much blood when stabbing enemies but if they stab me there is nothing.
Water quality was downgraded. The relight from the sun through the water waves was amazing in Origins but mostly inexistent in Odyssey, while the underwater looked astonishing in Origins, it just looks ok in Odyssey. This is kinda like Unity, which had a graphical presentation, overall lighting and textures that was amazing, but got downgraded for the next release. I also find difficult to understand why would Origins run smoothly at 60fps while Odyssey won't.

I'm having a blast with Oddysey, but i do miss Origins. Origins was awe-inspiring, with pyramids and interesting locations, dungeons, secrets, ISU temples, cities bursting with life. Even the desert looked mysterious and invited adventure. I think Origins is just aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Oddysey feels and looks more chaotic, more scattered. And kinda same-y.
For me the soundtrack of Origins is more interesting. Its not what you expect so it creates a unique almost surreal atmosphere. Odyssey has some nice tracks as well but its more generic and less bold so it doesnt stand out as much.

Origins Hellenistic Age could expand vastly. The Hellenistic is something not yet explored in video games. Seleukid Empire, Makedonia, Hellenistic City States and Colonies. However Classic Greece is great too! I wish Ubisoft had more of these. We are tired of other themes. For me both games are winners!
Giannis K. What other themes did you mean? Each AC is literally using different theme none other games (AC or not) have ever explored before. How can you get tired of those themes? AC was set in Levant, AC2 in Italy, AC3 in Ottoman, Blck Flag in Carribean, and Origins in Egypt. I can’t even think of any other games that have explored those setting exstensively. On the other hand ancient Greece and soon to be released Viking setting are so overused, especially the viking one. Since Skyrim we now see the surge of Viking themed games being released every year. That you should be tired of.
I played both for the sake Because I love both settings I gotta say that Origins takes the cake on this one, not only did bayek have a more stronger character story than the 2 in odeyssey, he was also the 1st assassin hence the name "origins" which odyssey decided to switch to spartan soldiers Bayek could even be the next Ezio for the franchise, Odyssey isnt as bad I did love the scenery and locations But somethings were downgraded and flat out removed..so AC ODYSSEY is better as a "non-AC" game While Origins is a top 5 AC game in my book Overall Origins As it is one of the best AC games ever alongside the Ezio trilogy

I hear that AC: Valhalla for next gen is being made by the guys that made AC:origins and AC:black flag. I think that's a good sign then.

AC Origins was developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the same studio that developed most of Assassin's Creed games including Ezio's trilogy, AC3, Black Flag, Unity. And AC Odyssey was developed by Ubisoft Quebec, the same studio that developed Assassin's Creed Syndicate.

blususpect The bows were more unique but the mechanics for aiming are way more fluid in Odyssey. It was much easier to aim with right analog in Odyssey. In Origins I found myself aiming more by moving Bayek side to side with the left analog.

Alexios/ kassandra are both cool and all. But Bayek had something special. He was a great character, and had great charisma. We need a sequel, and I think maybe we can have one in Rome, right after the Hidden Ones DLC.

Why about the outfits? Origins has the most complex thought out, out of this world designs, even the weapons are unique.
on the other hand Odyssey keeps giving my Kassandra the same fucking Athenian Tassets and Mercenary Gauntlets lmao. Then again there weren't as many outfits in Origins either, so I suppose variety vs depth. The big-deal gear in Odyssey looks fantastic, however.

Origins had so much more of emotional depth, when I hear the theme music I get emotional, because I felt like I had experienced all the suffering together with Bayek. The character was so much more authentic and had a warrior-like personality. Origins will forever be my favourite.

I mean Odyssey looks absolutely amazing and everything, but there was just something about Origins that felt so much more.. _magic_ to me, more ominous. Maybe it's just something about desert settings that resonates better with me or something, but I honestly wouldn't see the point in buying this game when you already have the last one. Origins is really all we need until they take the time off yearly releases again to make one set in feudal Japan or something.

Honestly Black Flag was the best one by far. Origins is alright, although like 90% of NPC voices are Greek instead of Egyptian. I get it that lots of Greeks were living in Mesogeian parts of Egypt but this is too much.

I haven’t finished both games but I’m currently 36 hours in origins and 19 in odyssey and so far I like odyssey better, I don’t know if it’s the details or the characters or the story, both games make me feel like I am there but odyssey just makes me a tad immersed when it comes to doing basic stuff, I would say that somethings annoy me more in odyssey than origins like goddamn wolves and civilians attacking you non stop but I dunno I just like Odyssey better

Damn, that Origins torch effect really is light years ahead of the Odyssey one. The one in Odyssey almost looks like a placeholder fire effect
I don't recall such things in Origins, but in Oddysey there are some details that looks unfinished. Fire is looking really bad, but fire / lava effects during fight with one of cyclops is even worse, like from 2010 game at best. I've also seen hanged bodies that looks like ragdolls. And managed to fall beneath map surface.

I like the graphics in both games. The nicest touch in Odyssey I guess, is the breaking of the waves on the beach - It looks quite realistic and pretty. I don't recall Origins to have this effect. Apart from that - and apart from their entirely different setting of course - otherwise they are both great looking games.

Origins had the lush green water that I though looked awesome. It had different types through out the map
I can see why people might think the water is nicer in Odyssey than in Origins, and they'd be right. But not because of better graphics. While Greece is more on a coast next to the clean ocean. Egypt is more in land and the water consists of muddy rivers and lakes.
It's a great game though.
To be honest, both games are really fascinating in their own ways and I'm amazed by both of their ancient atmospheres ! Origins story and Bayek draws you in the game more than Odyssey and the naval gameplay and the skillset. As for the mythological creatures I loved them both !

I almost beat Origins and I'm a 1/3 of the way into Odyssey. In my opinion Origins has better graphics, Odyssey is beautiful and colorful but I noticed it takes a while for the vegetation to render when you get close to it.
I prefer Origins because after you beat the game, you still feel like a ''human'' despite in Odyssey your a Demigod which I don't quite like.

I was expecting more about the beginning of the Templars. Of course Alexios/Kassandra aren't Assassins, since Aya/Amunet is the first Assassin, *SPOILER* but at the end there's not much but a cult that you defeated. Nothing about how the Templars still arised from this Cult or who or what the Father of Understanding is. It feels like a complete Standalone with a little similarity due to the secret cult of cosmos organisation and the Isu. I hope the next AC brings in more connection to the whole thing again.

The combat sounds better in Assassins Creed Orgins. There's a lot more thud to it.
I'd say the animations and npc's in Origins are better aswell. I actually just looked at this today. Random bandit NPCs in Origins have just as much detail to them as Bayek himself, while in Odyssey it's almost 100% robes and ropes.
I've got platinum on both and personally enjoyed origins more, odyssey was still good but i preferred Bayek as the protagonist.

They kill everyone in the cult and Aspacia forms the Order of Ancients (If you killed Aspacia someone else will form the Order of Ancients) because there must be balance. The Hidden Ones were formed by Bayek and Aya to fight them because they were oppressing Egypt. The Ancient Ones became Templars and The Hidden Ones became Assassins over time. Bayek and Aya aren't related to Bayek either.
I’ve played since ACII and I like Odyssey more than Origins.
As someone who has played this on max settings 3440x1440 Ultrawide, I can assure you that if you had to pick between either these two you should DEFINITELY go with Origins.
Odyssey, in my opinion, is nothing more but the same game origins was but in a different setting and some changes to the combat. But that's about it.
Origins was refreshing, new, the combat was totally different to what we were used to, the graphics were beautiful especially on PC, the story was FINALLY good and it felt a bit like a new era was about to start. I honestly thought this would replace the entire Ezio trilogy, im so sad it didnt happen because Bayek had a great story and so much potential going.
And graphics compared I'd say origins, the graphics on odyssey are a bit more refined but origins is just a more natural, more beautiful and soothening area to play in.
Origins and Odyssey are games you can group together. SInce I played Origins first, I liked it. But If one has played Odyssey before Origins, I can them preferring that. Origins was the first game to transform AC into next gen. I was expecting a better story thoThe setting alone makes Origins my preference. I've had enough of greenery and water. Saw plenty of that in W3. The sand was a nice change of pace and refreshing. Exploring the ruins in Egypt at night is too hard to resist

There's something graphically that doesn't seem right about odessey. It kinda reminds me of Elder Scrolls Online. The animations seem a bit stiffer than in origins and it seems a bit more plasticy to me
I really like odessey, you can make your own decisions and choose what to do in certain situations. i love the dialogue interaction its great. The map is beautiful and for me the story itself its really interesting, but, origins its just better in my opinion, it feels more like an assassin creed and i think they really implement well the Egypt theme, the colors and the story are great. My problem with odessey is you have to do TOOO MUCH secondary missions and it really gets annoying at one point, its constantly requested for you to upgrade your level and it gets tiring. Lets say you just passed from level 22 to 25 complete the mission requested for that level, then you need to keep upgrading right after you completed THAT mission, theres not another primary mission that request the same level, The secondary missions are boring too, nothing too special (go find this or kill this person) and in Origins secondary missions are also a request but is not that constantly and its not that hard to upgrade the level. The missions are not the same also, so its a pretty entertaining game. I didn’t finish odessey for that reason, i don’t think I’ll ever will, its just a waste of time and no progress, i think Origins is better.
I bought the XP and Drachmae boost, which gives you 50% extra on both and after that I enjoyed the game a lot more. you stroll through the game with a much better flow because you don't have to turn every stone just to get xp

When origins came out it became a straight classic, odyssey was good but only average. The character odyssey is cartoonish and in origins its more serious and feels more like an AC game from the core. Bayek is such a badass.

- I think Odyssey's best mechanic is the ship aspect, which feels like a simplified version of Black Flag's ship system.
- I feel like the game lacks atmosphere, and almost doesn't take itself seriously. Is this just me?
- The game does compete with Origins in most other aspects except for the story. The voice acting and narrative structure in Odyssey is borderline laughable. Whereas the character development/arcs, story telling, acting etc was brilliantly executed in Origins.
Overall Odyssey is a worthy installment in the series. Though I really hope the Black Flag/Origins team are working on a Bayek Sequel.
I also like the ship, but you can't really make it like in black flag because the ships were not as advanced back then. And you can't make it no arcadey because that would be too much
origins story was ok but the way to was told was awful. Terrible pacing and left many people confused. Odyssey told its story way better.
They should just take the ac name out and make a franchise full on mythology like come on what's better than the gods of Olympus ,the Egyptian gods and pharaohs but we all know they won't because if you put the assassins creed label on a game almost every fan will buy it

Alexios feels flat as a character. I loved bayek he always made me chuckle a little. And completing the star stones and going back to siwa woo talk about a feels trip
There’s something about the players movement/motion in odyssey... looks very very dated and stiff. Like your character is steering a treadmill everywhere.
I actually fell in love to Odyssey, the last time I really enjoy a AC game was back to Syndicate, Origin is good too, but I think I prefer Odyssey.
Still early in the game, my only complain now is that I hope they'll patch us the option to choose to show our headgear on even during cutscenes.
It definitely feels like with Origins, Ubisoft has something to prove. I think they got comfortable when Odyssey came around.
I've played most AC games but I feel origins is the best, it was so massive and detail that it was scary. Don't get me wrong they dropped the ball in a few area's but bayek had a lot of personality and the world looked fantastic. So fantastic that most nights I just wondered around Egypt looking at shit. All the guard towers looked different all the Egyptian lore and color's were unreal. I think origins had the best looking and most detailed open world ever in a video game... Ever!
A game that was made in 2017 that in my opinion, can came close in beating RDR 2's attention to detail.

I'm really liking Odyssey so far, but there are a few things that I like more about Origins.
For some reason the sense of discovery just doesn't feel the same, maybe I haven't played Odyssey enough yet, but Origins felt more fun to explore.
The combat is very similar, but I like Origins much better, I'm a basic sword and shield guy, and never go for dual wielding, that's always my least favorite combat style, but now in Odyssey there are no shields, and it's mostly dual wielding.
I don't like that they gave the choice of character. I can tell that some of the dialogue and character building has lost some quality and personality due to having to accommodate the game to two different people. While they may basically be the same, the world and other characters and the way people act have lost a certain quality.

I still really like Odyssey, there's just some things that I liked better in Origins.
Origins: avenging your son, betrayals, war elephants, gods, fun tombs, fun combat, good movement animations, actually an assasin with a hidden blade so the endind of origins tells the actual origins of assasins(the hidden ones).
Odyssey: some mercenaries, no hidden blade, no shield, hitting an enemy with an arrow looks like he was hit by a catapult, not fun assasinations, bad movement, ships are good though.
Water Quality is downgraded in Odyssey. The Character looks wet in Origins and in Odyssey not.
Are you blind? Water quality is 10x better in Odyssey. lol

I just wish I had a shield in Odyssey. I don’t mind the other imperfections and even some downgrades, I just want my shield back. The enemy doesn’t have to break my defense but I have to break theirs? Not cool. Not to mention immersion being totally broken. I hope the fan base pulls together and we can get a shield update in the future, not likely but I’ll still hope for it.

St Matteos Agreed. Not only Sparta but all of Greece used shields as a part of their primary style of combat, as a majority most of them fought in the hoplite style which is useless without a shield.
yehh personally thats the only thing making me reallly wanna love odyssey. in orgins the shield rush and counter were my bread and butter. made combat soo smoove. and just the fact of a spartian without a shield option at least is laughable to me.

I am enjoying Odyssey, loved Orgins story raw revenge. Love Odysseys open world and choice menus. Very similar in context so far. Great game
It depends on the perspective of gamer. Of u want to experience a Egypt during Alexander u must go for ac origins but if u love Greek mythology and mythical creatures then u must go for ac Odyssey
Agreed. Of course combat, graphic, control differences are also important but I think gamers get more immersed and love a certain title mostly depending on their preference over history/fantasy .. these emotional stuff

Yeah. I wish I could minimize that. Every time Bayek jumps off a cliff and lands with extremely low damage, he's covered head to toe in blood in my game. Eventually it gets really annoying because I get way too much blood when stabbing enemies but if they stab me there is nothing.

Water quality was downgraded. The relight from the sun through the water waves was amazing in Origins but mostly inexistent in Odyssey, while the underwater looked astonishing in Origins, it just looks ok in Odyssey.
This is kinda like Unity, which had a graphical presentation, overall lighting and textures that was amazing, but got downgraded for the next release.
I also find difficult to understand why would Origins run smoothly at 60fps while Odyssey won't.

I'm having a blast with Oddysey, but i do miss Origins. Origins was awe-inspiring, with pyramids and interesting locations, dungeons, secrets, ISU temples, cities bursting with life. Even the desert looked mysterious and invited adventure. I think Origins is just aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Oddysey feels and looks more chaotic, more scattered. And kinda same-y.
Models/Textures: Odyssey wins slightly. Story/Plot/Characters: Origins by a landslide.

For me the soundtrack of Origins is more interesting. Its not what you expect so it creates a unique almost surreal atmosphere. Odyssey has some nice tracks as well but its more generic and less bold so it doesnt stand out as much.

At least origins is some how related to the assassin’s brotherhood. What is AC in odyssey? Nothing.
It is related to order of the templar
oddysey is more about the pre-birth of the templars, the modern day character you play was a former abstergo employee.

Origins Hellenistic Age could expand vastly. The Hellenistic is something not yet explored in video games. Seleukid Empire, Makedonia, Hellenistic City States and Colonies. However Classic Greece is great too!

Giannis K. What other themes did you mean? Each AC is literally using different theme none other games (AC or not) have ever explored before. How can you get tired of those themes? AC was set in Levant, AC2 in Italy, AC3 in Ottoman, Blck Flag in Carribean, and Origins in Egypt. I can’t even think of any other games that have explored those setting exstensively. On the other hand ancient Greece and soon to be released Viking setting are so overused, especially the viking one. Since Skyrim we now see the surge of Viking themed games being released every year. That you should be tired of.
