My ring of fire is eight months old and enormous. I moved it from a 6" pot to a 12" pot maybe four months ago and put it outside for the summer. A few days ago I moved it to a massive planter, maybe 18", where it will hopefully stay forever. I've got to try a moss pole! I'm new to plants and I just have it loosely tied to a stick to keep it from lying on its side, but I see now what it needs.

My self heading ( mounding) philodendrons tend to feel wobbly in their pots without stakes or moss poles. Fortunately I saw you mount ROF on moss pole and did the same for my own struggling with root rot, which saved his life! 1.5 yrs on now, all roots grew into the moss pole, the pot is just a sturdy base to hold and catch water now. Thanks again Jan, your growing concepts are 🔥😻

    Hello Jan,
Quick question about watering after you transfered your gorgeous Ring of Fire:
Did you water directly after or did you let the sphagnum moss dry out to eliminate the spores to reduce the risk of mold ?
I'm having loads of issues with those D shape poles, which are not as aerated as the homemade ones and have some mold issues.
Do you plan on making a video about mold issues with spagnum moss and ways to prevent them ?
That would be very helpful for a lot of people... But, in the other hand... If you havn't encountered that issue, you can't really speak from experience, which is totally understandable. It is an issue that is basically environmental, based on each person's conditions, I guess. Finding sdolutions online on this issue is quite tough so if you have tips, that'd be wonderful !!!

I am wondering if I give them a small pole, at some point I'll have to switch to a larger pole and will look bad. On the other hand. it would look funny (and perhaps a waste of moss) if I give them a large pole. Thanks in advance for your help 🙂

Is this the correct term? Excurrant?
plants with an excurrent growth habit have single, undivided trunks and lateral branches that typically produce an overall cone or pyramid-shaped form. This plant form and growth habit is characteristic of many gymnosperms such as Thuja plicata (western red cedar) and Pseudotsuga menziesii (Douglas fir)
