After Ja Morant and Giainnis Antetokounmpo BOTH got hurt after going up against someone taking a charge, lot of NBA fans are calling for the NBA to remove all charge calls or change the way the charge is called. In this video I go over the two injuries and talk about other ways the NBA can go about this without just removing the charge as a whole. Without charge calls the NBA could possibly turn into the NFL with some players like LeBron James being able to bulldoze his way down the court like he’s Marshawn Lynch.

Lmao if they removed charges, everyone below 6'5 is getting kicked out. Just sign a bunch of athletic 6'7 footers and have them just charge at smaller dudes.
Whoever complains about charges has never played basketball. There should not be ANY changes to the rules. We will not change the rules of basketball for y’all.
I completely agree
Thanks for making this video! I'm trying to breakdown this topic as well and seeing your research really helps a lot
Of course! I really appreciate your comment! If I knew the video was gonna do as well as it has I would have gone even deeper. Definitely an interesting subject
@@CourtsideChase You can certainly retackle it again. Modifying the rules is complicated and I'm trying to do it in 24 seconds, however if I can refer to a more indepth video like yours that is so helpful for me!
Overall I agree with everything you are saying. The only thing about block/charge call is the charge being called on an offensive player if they are already in the air and the defender is not in legal guarding position before the player leaves the air, that should be a charge.
Why would you not want a rule change that would eliminate half the charges from being called...???!! It would encourage more driving to the rim and less jacking up 3 point shots which has been killing ratings. Drives to the rims are athletic and fun to watch, that's where the most exciting things happen. And we would get to see way more poster dunks which is the most exciting play in basketball. Think Kobe dunking over Dwight Howard. We don't see those plays nearly as often anymore because the current charging rules discourage players from driving to the rim. Its lame. Rewards unathletic players like Kevin Love and gives them a chance to make a defensive play they otherwise would be completely useless defensively. Basketball is supposed to be a highly athletic sport, these charging calls is a big thing that's been ruining the game lately
Show some videos of defenders jumping up to block a lay up or dunk and the offensive player getting badly injured.....ill wait
They just forgot that's basketball is a contact sport 😅😅😅😅
bring back handchecking
Yup!
I mean it would be pretty cool to watch Lebron just run dudes over down low 😭, make up for all the missed calls lmao
at this point lmfaoo NBA bouta be signing NFL players
they should ban players from sliding into position even if they get there first. As a defender if you are going to mvoe into position, DO SO TO BLOCK THE SHOT, not take a lazy and dangerous foul
jumping and blocking the shot is equally as dangerous. If you get beat to the spot then you got stopped. These players know the consequences of their dangerous driving tendencies. They need to focus on that
I disagree King. Sliding charges are dangerous plays that can hurt or even end someone's career. The defensive player should be already standing in place if they get a charge call. It is no better than someone sliding their feet underneath you when you take a jump shot, which can cause you to sprain or break your ankle.
@@tonyb.1905 I agree with that part. The NBA at one point just started calling everything a charge. Sliding charges should always be a block but it seems like in todays NBA if you just take a bump, it's a charge. Sliding charges should be a block and they could even call flagrants if it truly was a very last second dangerous play. Kevin loves play is a good example but even then he was still trying to make a play for his team. It's hard to judge
