'The Second Symphony was completed in 1901, a year after the first. It is the most traditional of his symphonies in formal structure. The first two movements (Andante, Allegro) are played without a break and structurally form a classical sonata movement. In the third movement (Andante), however, he makes a remarkable advancement toward the heavily chromatic sound associated with the mature Scriabin. The movement opens with a birdsong played by the flute, another Scriabin characteristic. The rest of the movement, with its frequent evocations of birdsong and other sounds of nature, is like a long, dreamy walk through the wilderness. Even the central climax is unforced. A lovely movement, the fourth movement (Tempestuoso), a minor-key scherzo, is full of turbulent string, timpani, and brass writing, interrupted briefly in places by some more lyrical writing. Toward the end of the movement, the key modulates into the major and leads seamlessly into the final Maestoso movement with a majestic restatement of the symphony's opening theme. This work marks important strides in Scriabin's growth as a composer, and still shocked its initial audience somewhat when it premiered in St. Petersburg under the baton of Anatol Lyadov on January 12, 1902.' - John Dobson Видеоклипы
38:59 here begins the BEST CADENCE of the music history. Gorgeous and sublime
The first movement is one of the darkest things Scriabin composed, brings me to a wretched torn down landscape
Wonderful music.,heavenly, sublime....I LOVE SCRIABIN FOREVER
Excellent score, I absolutely love the music of Scriabin. Thanks for the upload!
I love how this and the 3rd Symphony are not only both in C minor but have a near-identical ending.
Very interesting symphony, maybe one of the most unique pieces by Scriabin it doesn't sound like his other works, there are many differences!
Très belle version. Merci. ❤
32:05 this song will be played in the wedding
🌻Thank you!🌻

Me encanta!!!!!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
4:32 Scriabin really composes like he was in a War movie
AMAZING!!
You mean: Hollywood composers really score war movies like they wish they were Scriabin? ;^)
@@elleboman8465 Hollywood music (Esp. the modern ones) rely on technology a lot to create the effect. Scriabin had three things, pen, paper, and genius!
@@SCRIABINISTa piano too...
14:59 3rd movement Adagio
Andante, actually.
For eternity ...
The performance here sounds to be with cymbals not directed in the accompanied score.
I also noticed this. If cymbals we're needed here Skriabin would have scored them. As it now is the noise is exactly at the predicted spot and if one thing characterises Skr it is unpredictability. So indeed a bad idea to add this.
RIP ❤

Strange he uses an A cl in Ebm! And then two Bb’s in Dm.
That is strange. Can any clarinettists explain?
@@ContemporaryClassical It's because clarinet is a transposing instrument.
Bb clarinets sound a whole step lower than written, and A clarinets a minor 3rd lower.
To get a C major scale on a Bb clarinet for example, youd have to write in D major.
@@Strakk2029 I think this was already clear for all commenters involved. The question was about logic behind these choices.
I honestly didn't study the score that much but maybe it's simply A where he needs that additional low note plus nice colour in the low register and B where he doesn't since it's more standard.
@@AndreyRubtsovRU A clarinets always sound more warm
