THX is a performance standard only (although it's also an ecosystem of sorts). They run several hundred tests on - in this case - power amplifiers to ensure the products can reproduce film sound at cinema reference level in rooms up to 3,000 cubic feet (THX Ultra2). THX is not mandatory, but it's a great guide if you're building out a quality home cinema. THX speaker certification ensures reference performance and audio dispersion characteristics to enhance dialogue intelligibility in the front soundstage and produce cinema-like spatial surround fields. (THX also has proprietary audio processing in AVRs and AVPs capable of up to 5.1 and 7.1 channels, but those technologies are not applicable to the latest immersive audio formats.)
I just bought a used Parasound A51 for $2200. Replaced a couple Crown amps, first the class D and then class A/B Crowns and there is no comparison. The dynamics and clarity with the parasound is superior even though the Crown pro amps were pushing more power.
My Acurus 200xfive has been delivering ~non-stop since 2005. Started w a AE One dual mono pre, then put a CJ PV 14 tube hybrid in front, fresh Mullard 8008/6C4 and it’s quiet for another 4-5 years. Feeding JM Labs 913 Spectral’s w Emotiva basx 300 watt 12”. Still amazes me after all these years!
When we still can't even get high quality sound through streaming I don't see it happening either. I haven't seen an 8K display, but 1080P to 4K wasn't that big of a change visually and HDR is what pushed most people into getting new displays, but maybe 8K is a different story.

So is there a difference in tone/performance between the two? I have high sensitivity klipsch speakers and I don’t run 2 channel (large), so I don’t need the extra wattage, but I’m curious about the tonal differences if there are any..

Isn’t the THX certification more about the product meeting specific standards and specifications rather than the product being matched to source material in a THX format? IMAX enhanced is a format that you need a capable product to use, but I don’t think THX works like that now. Not 100% sure.
You seem like someone I can trust. Been looking for good, somewhat recent reviews on a Rotel RMB-1585, Parasound A52+ and an A51. I agree that AMPS can be a onetime investment. Looking for a clean detailed sound and yet some warmth and for a 7.3 REL HT 3D home theater system, with an all B&W 606 and HTM6 and 8" in ceiling Atmos, surround setup. Will upgrade the front 3 speakers with nothing bigger than 705 S3 bookshelves and maybe an 8 series center channel or switch to Perilisten speaker for the front 3 and upgrade the rear surrounds with a higher level in ceiling speakers, and just use my ARCAM AVR10 run the Atmos speakers. Mostly watch movies but do some 2-channel listening. So which amp do I want? Read an older review on ROTEL 1585 vs Parasound A51, but how would an A52+ fair in that review. Thanks in advance for your answer. :-)
Parasound makes great products. I own the A21, A31, A23plus, and will be picking up the JC3 plus. The amps are several years old and they rock my movies in the home theater. Awesome stuff!!

Do you hear a difference? I just added a 300wx7 amp and haven't seen or heard a difference in my HT. I'm disappointed in what amps do I was expecting a massive difference from the power in my receiver but no difference. I'm I missing what amps actually do?
Between amp manufacturers you’ll hear a difference. And anytime you change components in your system you’ll notice a difference if you are in tune to how it sounded while playing certain songs or movies. Adding the 300x7 amp you should have noticed you don’t have to turn your receiver up as high to get the desired volume. Did you redo the room calibration after adding the amp?
@@matt74834 yeah I did ARC about 5 times the results are all over the place and it does sound any more powerful as on the mrx 720 on its own not to mention that with the mrx I was only, using 7.2 with the amp I add 4 heights. I was expecting a huge difference also and from all the other guys using the amp I bought they all say its brutal but I'm thinking the amp is broken from new. Because if this is what amps do I'll save the 2K lol
@@Raritytuber mrx 720 using the preouts for LRC and 4 heights the receiver does my 4 surrounds and sub of course. I think the amp might have issues because even the heat from it is low after 6hrs last night no fan on it and listening at -5 the hottest it got was 32 and thats oddly low. The anthem with t10 fan runs at 28 and Xbox was at 32 with a small USB fan. The shop told me the amps run warm and fans are a must have to keep things nice so I know something is up as if only the signal is getting threw but no power is used. That the only explanation I have. I'm also getting lots of interference from 1 speaker changed wires cables no difference and even with the rca disconnected the speaker still does it and it shouldn't only when I take the wires off it stops. Its always the same modual on the amp that does the cracks and pops so it must be broke. I could have received a bad unit it happens.
@@taxi615 Okay! So Youthman said he also didn't hear a difference until he switched from an AVR to a dedicated prepro (in his case to the Marantz AV7705). The new AVRs from Marantz and Denon are also great with the new preamp mode by disconnecting the internal amps. Your preouts might also be clipping above a certain voltage by the way. Audioholics talks about it in their Marantz SR8015 video.
The Parasounds are more universal for both Music and HT. XPA lack a bit of sonic nuance and tonality so they don't sound as natural or detailed. emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/51292/xpa-gen3-parasound-2250-v2 This posting summarizes well. "The XPA sounds powerful (very strong bass, slap on your face kind) but a little too "dry" or synthetic? Compared to the Parasound which sounds softer, not "in your face" kind. XPA is BIG (I mean huge!), I think it's a waste of space for just two channels, the box is almost empty, so it probably lends itself better to a multi-channel uses (5,7, or more). The XPA is a very good amp but after listening to it and comparing to the Parasound, I will be returning the XPA."
If you have the budget or willing to make a budget for the Parasounds Go for it. If you stick with XPA just don't listen to Parasound after you may regret your purchase.
High quality speakers are just as big an investment as amps and screens. Good quality loudspeakers will last for years and no need to really upgrade if you invest in a good set of speakers.
Just FYI: No movie is "mastered in THX", other than in a THX sound engineering room, which does still happen, yet not promoted like it once was. For clarity, THX isn't a sound mastering process like Dolby, DTS, or Auro3D. THX is a set of performance standards that audio, video, and/or theaters have to meet in order to become certified. In the past, a THX-certified product was a sign of assurance that the product meets "better than normal" standards of performance. Lack of marketing (other than gaming and headphones on THX's efforts) and lack of understanding in the marketplace has diminished the THX brand power. THX continues to represent a performance standard that makes a difference. Yes, it costs extra for THX certification, but so does Dolby, DTS, etc. If it says it on the product, you're paying extra for it.
Great amps are expensive but will last much longer than a pre/pro. I've had my original Aragon 8008 BBs & X3's for a long time. Over those years, I've gone through multiple preamp/processors (it drives me nuts when a new video standard, or even a new connector is released). Parasond's are good, solid pieces.

Thank you for this video!
Compared to XPA3 or XPA5 how do these guys perform?
The Parasounds are more universal for both Music and HT. XPA lack a bit of sonic nuance and tonality so they don't sound as natural or detailed. emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/51292/xpa-gen3-parasound-2250-v2
This posting summarizes well.
A lot of this has to do with Amp topology and parts selection voicing the amp as you will, which is where the costs come in along with sheer quality.
If you have the budget or willing to make a budget for the Parasounds Go for it. If you stick with XPA just don't listen to Parasound after you may regret your purchase.
Home theater dude is the best dude
He’s the ONLY dude! I drool for all this equipment!
He rules RUclips
Thanks dudes
High quality speakers are just as big an investment as amps and screens. Good quality loudspeakers will last for years and no need to really upgrade if you invest in a good set of speakers.
First view and first comment bro nice review
nice equipment well worth the money you would pay if its in your budget..
Congrats on over 50 million subs.
Toby Hines 50 k dude
@@user-ep7el6vt7o 10 million views and 50 million subs seem right
shoooot i wish. Id have bieber money with that
Just FYI: No movie is "mastered in THX", other than in a THX sound engineering room, which does still happen, yet not promoted like it once was. If it says it on the product, you're paying extra for it.
...... i agree with most of that.
great audiophile amps
You take that back right now. The A51 is soooo sexy!!!
Great issues covered with buy once cry once!!! I’m to the point that my projector is the only item that is replaceable.

Very good reviewer.
I can attest to the quality of Parasound Amps. I have 2x HCA 2003 and they are still running strong!
Nord 252 is my choice
Expensive?🤣 gtf outta here. U americans pays half the prize that we do. Nice vid and love the channel🤗
Run higher crossovers on speakers let your subs do their job no need to run external amplifier.
09:08 I can barely freaking understad with 2chainz blattering in the background..
It was a soundbyte I put in when I was saying two channel. You are the first to notice.
