That's pretty sweet man I have a 96 Yamaha waveblaster 760 I'm going to chop up and use.. my jon boat is 16ft aluminum do you think the motor will push it Alright?
Tyler Thomas yes if you make sure the water intake is lower then the ice runners it should be plenty of power. I run into issues on choppy water because my intake grate is even with my ice runners. But for the shallow water areas that I like to go it works fine. Just do not use a riveted Jon Boat it just leaks like crazy because the rivets don't hold up.

the 720 is sea doos best motors, i wont buy anything with a 787 or 951 in it, stay away from the DI or direct injection, you have to remember that the rotary valve shaft has to be supplied with oil from that oil tank besides the oil injection system, no oil or not enough oil in the rotary valve shaft chamber within the motor will eat up the brass gear on the shaft
beargibson3100 the driveshaft is sealed via the Sea-Doo hull. It's a special rotating bearing seal that mates to the fiberglass hull and driveshaft. If your not using a seadoo hull you will have to find some way to seal the shaft that's why it's nice to use a seadoo hull or at least replicate it in aluminum so you can use the same seal.
Nick, I am currently trying to decide if I will use my current 16' ModV flattie. If I decide to use this current boat I am on the fence as to stay 2cyl or go with 3cyl. It seems to me like most seadoo 717 boats run about $1200. Most of the 3cyl are around $1500. Most 2 cyl dont have reverse which makes them a little tougher to find at the right price. It seems to me like it would be wiser to just buck up and find a 3cyl but I wanted to hear your input since it will be my first build and I do plan to go with a full aluminum fabricated intake shoe with whatever size ski/boat combo I choose..
Tyler Kramer Thanks for watching! First off the 717 has 85hp so stepping up to a 787 2cyl that has 137hp is cheap. All the pumps are fairly interchangeable so getting a reverse would be easy they are on eBay all the time for a good price. You don't need to buy a seadoo boat as the pumps and engines are the same as a actual seadoo. If you have the ability to fabricate the aluminum intake grate and your boat can be welded on (old aluminum doesn't weld very well) then that would be a good option but just remember you need ether a fully clear area on the hull from the front to the back so no ice runners or you need a spoon in front of the intake grate to push air bubbles away from the intake. I have mixed thoughts, I bought the 16modV years back intending to jet it. Now I am considering an old Starcraft DeepV (they have flat butts) because I do fish the ocean and that could make for my "one off" boat, only downside is it would be alittle less fit for running the river chutes. Its a tough decision. Part of me wants to just buy a 12-14' and stick a 717 in it, but I know as soon as its on the water im going to regret not using my 16modV. So the question is, whats the motor your gonna use for your 17? The 787/951 seadoo boat?
Tyler Kramer Ether will work for this application the v makes it a little better for speed and cutting chop. You really have to decide what kind of water you going in. I only do shallow water 2" to 5' deep only in rivers if I take my boat on a lake with chop I can't get up to speed because of cavitation because my pump sits level with my lower hull. If your doing a lake boat then you need to set the pump as the deepest part of the boat to avoid cavitation.
I can't say what per mile but it has a 5 gallon tank and I have never run out and have even done multiple trips without having to refuel but I only use my motor from going to fishing spot to fishing spot I do not pleasurekraft it but I would assume it's fairly similar to The Standard Sea-Doo mileage per hour
I use regular one hundred percent silicone caulk. I did not get the cheapest version. I did use a substantial amount to the point where a lot of it dripped out which I would recommend because you can always trim it with a razor blade once it's dry. I did not trim any of the leftover on the interior of the boat just the stuff on the bottom
TRUTH No Religion Required the tiger shark jet ski is plastic. I don't think the plastic will be as forgiving as fiberglass with lag bolts. besides the tiger shark jet skis are really costly to repair because they don't make new parts for them as much as Sea-Doo or Yamaha.

About 8 years ago I cut my 1994 Yamaha 701 wave raider in a 15 foot jon. Still fish with it today.

From my understanding it's due to the rotax system, it's not very efficient but it's technically reliable and easy to fix.

I'd like to ask you about the way the driveshaft seals, if you're still reading the comments.

What type of silicone did you use to seal the hull?
Tyler Thomas exterior grade 100% silicone. Basically regular old window caulk.
