He means the ending of psychological thought and not other forms of thought. He doesn't always mention that but it helps make the point he is making more reasonable for listeners who are not familiar with this line of thought. :)
I think he is just simply stating thought not the form of thoughts. If you end the thought eventually the whole form of thought will disappear. It’s natural isn’t it,sir?
No no I disagree. Thought is required. In science and other fields. But when thought enters the psyche, that's where the problem begins. And its art in the truest form to put thought in the right place.
The ego exists only in time. Time is the movement of one image towards another image, that is, the movement of thought. Thought is limited, so time is limited, so the ego is limited, and so, all the divisions are the product of something limited. Therefore, all the divisions, being the product of thought, of concepts, are false. They are only images on the screen of Truth. The idea about Truth is not Truth. Silence is Truth. Pure Consciousness, which is Life, is Truth. When the false is seen, Truth becomes evident. It looks like an emptiness, but everything comes from It. Everything is It.
Part of a dialogue between Krishnamurti and the actor Terence Stamp: K: You don't have to be Edison to switch on the electric light. TS: Listen, I am a simple guy, self taught mostly... K: What you are...what you actually are, is being. Being is not the mind thinking. Thinking is a movement, a motion. Being is the silence that precedes the motion. You cannot see it; you cannot grasp it because you are it. The feeling that you are. The unadorned naked awareness that is always there, rarely heeded, is what you always have been, always will be. Cannot not be. You can't look for it, because it is what is looking. It is like space - you can't see it but everything is in it. Everything is it. So I say to you, be aware when you are unaware; let its presence warm you, fill you. Be present in the Presence.
The self is a concept created and contained within mind. Murti says that identification is gone when thought comes to the end - true, but it's not the ultimate goal to eradicate thoughts. He should enquiry into the root and causes of identification instead of only emphasizing on silencing the mind, otherwise people will wrongly assume that only people who don't think may be liberated which is an absurd.
Thoughts never end you just need to know that thought itself is empty or devoid of thought itself. Once you know that you need no to think about ending the process of thought you can live with it without getting distracted.
The essence of the self are beliefs - who we believe we (and others) are along with the wants and desires one formulates (from knowledge, prior experience, and, to some extent, imagination and fantasy) that we further struggle to pursue in the attainment of and/or maintaining safety, security, and pleasure as well as pain avoidance.
Life, which is Consciousness, is our everyday basis. It doesn't belong to the body nor to thought. It cannot be measured. For the individual to really ascertain this - not to believe in this - thought has to be quiet. When there is this discovery, thought has its proper place, as an instrument. Then, thought does not attribute to itself the Life that is vivifying it. So simple, but it needs a great deal of investigation and the humility of really not knowing. Once the image, the idea, the mental construction is never the being or the thing it represents, who or what am I?
Self and thinking is the same, mind. Just as body and life. Ask yourself: do you create your thoughts or thoughts create you. Without thinking there is no 'you or I that exists. Anyway it's 21 min past 3 am ❤

With the complete, absolute destruction of roots of hell --- the open highway to roots of heaven are laid wide open. Caution: not an iota of (or a particle) thought-time is allowed.
Is life, existence, a matter of the sequence of events? What do we mean by sequence of events? Do I know that I am alive because I remember yesterday? Do I know that I am alive because I know the way to my house? Or do I know that I am alive because I am going to be somebody? How do I know that I am alive? It is only in the present, surely, that I know I am conscious. Is consciousness merely the result of the sequence of events? With most of us, it is. K, Ojai.

K was pointing as absolute human being which man has his own life to live untouched by the impurities of any teachings whatsoever, free from any dogmas and beliefs
The point is to ask yourself the question and not to use any of your preconceived ideas memories etc like the Buddha. Can you bring about the end of thought while living? Maybe it can’t be answered.

Apart from some mistakes, J. Krishnamurti makes, like saying that the body is the self, or part of the self, why should one want to stop thought? After all, thought has brought us tremendously many benefits. It is through thought and thinking that we are humans, and therefore as much distinct from all other life forms as life itself is from dead matter. We are _the third form of existence!_ The other two are: 'dead matter' and 'life'. In the realm of dead matter, only the present exists, because dead matter only needs laws of nature to 'uphold itself into existence'. Life, apart from consisting of the same atoms and molecules as dead matter, is also based on the DNA molecule, a _memory carrier!_ This means, that in the realm of life, the present and the past exist. But _not the future!_ Moreover, all life forms depend on evolution for their existence. Life either is adapted to the environment, or killed off by the environment. Life has no choice whatsoever in this matter. This is the process through which life forms mutate when the environment changes drastically. For example by a comet impact, killing the dinosaurs, after which the mammals rose to dominance. Or the environment doesn't change much, which means that it puts a pressure on the existing life forms so that they remain basically the same, by just killing those that aren't adapted enough. That is how species can be stable, and not change. So, it is the environment that determines whether life forms exist, remain the same, mutate or are destroyed. Life is completely subjected to the environments they live in, even if those environments have arisen by life itself Only _human beings_ are able to imagine things that do not exist anywhere, and then _act_ to bring them about. Human beings are therefore capable _to change the environment, and uphold themselves in existence, by doing the exact opposite what all other life forms do!_ The fact that we can first imagine something that does not exist, and then act _to cause it to exist,_ means that we do not survive by adapting to the environment, but _live_ by adapting the environment to ourselves. And that is _the very opposite of evolution!_ _This makes us the third form of existence!_ Only _we_ can have a total grasp of time, in terms of the present, the past _and_ the future. For all animals and plants, the future does not exist! Or, with some mammals, exists to a limited extent. But even for the highest animals, their lives do not depend on their limited understanding of the future. Only _we_ not only understand time fully, and therefore understand the potential existence of the future, but our very existence _depends on_ our full understanding of time! Especially understanding the concept of 'future' gives us the ability to adapt the environment to ourselves. It has caused us to _move beyond evolution!_ _And that thanks to thought and thinking!_ Because _we need our imagination to understand the very idea of future, and therefore to exercise our ability to adapt the environment to ourselves!_ So, I ask again. Why should we _stop thought and thinking?_ The argument J. Krishnamurti gives, that thought and thinking and identification is the source of all conflict andsorrow, and therefore we should stop it to be able to end all conflict, all sorrow, all suffering, is _saying too much!_ This is because thought and thinking _are also the source of all pleasure!_ It is thanks to thought and thinking that we can change our surrounding, up to the entire world, and in the future even move beyond our planet, that we find happiness. In fact, even just developing our mind, and then _feel_ its power grow is itself a source of happiness! The experience of sorrow, suffering, conflict _is necessary_ to _start thinking, and then trying to find solutions to the problems that cause these forms of anguish!_ Moreover, _identification_ can be something very good. Think about the Wright Brothers, who identified with the imagination of making humans fly, and then after many years succeeded in making a machine that made this happen! My point is: identifying with something that does not exist, causes us _to keep trying and experiencing setbacks, and then conquering them_ is the root cause _of all progress!_ It is what _makes us human!_ Stopping thought just to end conflict might sound nice, but _it destroys our very humanity!_ To return to a mistake of J. Krishnamurti. He falsely identified the 'self' with the body. The body _is not_ part of the self. It is the other way around. The self is a part of the body. We consist of three parts, each forming a stratum for the next step. These are: the body, the self, and the I. The body is the basis. The self is part of the body. And the 'I' is part of the self. That part of the body which is the nervous system is what I call: 'the being'. It is where 'the self' resides. Therefore, psychologically speaking, we consist of the Being, the Self and the I. Our nervous system makes us aware of our existence in the present. The self makes us aware of the world we live in. And the 'I' is that what gives purpose to our existence. The body is how we exist as matter. The body connects us to the present. The self is the result of everything we have learned. For each of us, the self is, psychologically speaking, identical with what we call 'the world'. What for each of us is 'the world', is what _others_ call 'our selves'. So, our self is our culture, our understanding of 'the outside world', in short, _all thoughts_ we can have, and _all_ forms of understanding we have, and can have. A Christian lives in a Christian world, and believes in a God, Creator, which, even though there is no trace of a God, he believes to exist. Knowing that somebody is a Christian is knowing his 'self'. But for the Christian, his Christianity is the world he imagines to live in. Namely as the creation of some superhuman entity. The 'I' is part of the self, in the sense that it is the result of choices. Whatever we choose to do, and then _act out, _*_is_*_ who we are!_ There is no distinction between the chooser and the choice. Once a choice is made, an 'I' has formed. And that 'I' when it realizes that what the brain has chosen to accomplish, is the source of our 'feeling' that we are 'persons'. That what we want to bring about _is_ the thought controlling the body, and therefore _is_ who we are! Knowing who you are is identical with knowing what you want. And if you know what you want _you do not ask who you are!_ Only if you don't know what you want, you might move into the dead end of asking 'who' you really are. The fact of the matter is, that if you don't know what you want, _there is no answer to the question: 'who am I'? And if you know what you want, _the question of who you are does not arise!_ There is no person that _does_ the choosing. The chooser is the choice, and that is the center out of which all actions of the body emerge, which is identical with the 'I'. The insistence of J. Krishnamurti to stop thought and thinking _is foolish!_ I know what he tries to make clear. But he hasn't become clear enough for himself to do a good job. What he _tries_ to make clear, is that there is, deep in all of us, _pure potentiality_ which manifests itself as _nothing!_ That is why he attacks thought and thinking. He tries to _ignite_ the 'pure potentiality' in us, so that it becomes something we can actually _experience!_ But his way to go about this _is totally wrong!_
Oh, yes. Just thought imagining "pure potentiality". This imagination is another form of bondage. The old trick, which makes thought develop a long defense of itself. Find out, if you are interested.

JK never used the term pure consciousness as I know. Looks like you follow Vedanta.
No identification, no self. Then there is the Self which we are.
We are not the self.
Even not the Self, which is an invention of the mind

He tries to _ignite_ the 'pure potentiality' in us, so that it becomes something we can actually _experience!_ But his way to go about this _is totally wrong!_
Is the Pure Potentiality, the Self then.?
Sounds like you’re not listening, just thinking. Even with your questions, there’s no space
Oh, yes. Just thought imagining "pure potentiality". This imagination is another form of bondage. The old trick, which makes thought develop a long defense of itself.
Find out, if you are interested.
It is in meditation that you stop thinking. In deep meditation there are no thoughts. Twice a day for 20 minutes is enough to experience changes in yourself🙏
