I work in the mountains and one of my cars is a vw transporter 4 Motion. Raised. Reinforced and a little bigger tires. Always fun on 4x4 trails. When i come with that to help out jeeps and hiluxes.

Considering that you can safely travel at a constant speed of more than 200km/h with one of those ,it is impressive that it could go through that with IFS

Impressive stuff! I’m considering one of these as a family hauler/off-roader

Hi mate, awesome to watch. I am totally new to the 4x4 thing and I hope you dont mind my question. Looking for a dedicated camper/tourer as I already have a performance coupe. I was considering the new JL wrangler based on the utilitarian look and way you can fit them out appeals to me and feel like it would even get me out aventuring more rather than a regular SUV but then I was put onto the Cayenne, obvioulsy being Porsche has benefits and would also be a much nicer drive on the road minus the utilitarian look I mentioned earler. Would there be more than enough spots accessible with the cayenne to find scenic, quiet spots for camping and adventure and less about the 4x4 climbing. Am I assuming correct that to find the magic spots you need to cross some heavy terrain? I would not be going with other veichles and would hate to get stuck. Or will the Cayenne with stock tyres/wheels get me to most spots around NSW and even Nationally for what I'm looking for. Cheers

No doubt a JL will get you further off road and has the biggest after market parts support of any off roader available.
That said The Cayenne is incredibly capable in the right hands with the addition of a good set of all terrain tyres will get you to 90% of the campgrounds in NSW. I strongly recommend anyone traveling off road solo should install a winch and carry a full kit of recovery gear. Either way getting out into our beautiful Australian scrub is all that matters and the vehicle to do it in is a personal choice.

It’s relatively stock other than a set of all terrain tyres, roof rack from a Jeep Grand Cherokee and 4 7” Led spot lights
