Watch as we test a 2003 450HP Porsche Cayenne twin turbo OFF-ROAD Completely stock other than a set of All terrain tyres. CAN IT DO IT ? Watch and find out.
Greta showcase of your truck. I am in the middle of getting either a Cayenne or a Touareg…… Love the power of the Cayenne, but love that I can get the Touareg with both center/rear lockers.
Good fun video to watch. I thought all the cayennes came with rear and centre locks. I know the rear was optional in Oz on most toerags, except the v10 that got it as standard.
Thanks Mark, Yes all early Cayennes have central diff locks and true low range, but unfortunately finding them with a diff lock is rear. I believe later models lose the low range but gain diff locks. Either way the are more capable than people give them credit for.
@@hsvh3hummer942 yep, Piech wanted the Tuareg to be the worlds best SUV on AND off the road. With center and rear locks they are very capable. Turbo cayenne just looks like so much fun!
@@hsvh3hummer942 Gotcha! Did you see CarTrek 6? Ed Bolian has one that looked real good. Edit: here is the link to the show ruclips.net/video/x6MmTpDTkkY/видео.html
@@Captain-Awesome I did see that. I fairly sure Bryson Richards built it for them. There is a real movement forming for Cayennes Off Road right now. I guess they are getting cheap enough now to wheel.
If you want to run 33’s or larger then none turbo is easier as you don’t have to relocate the two front intercoolers but other than that the will perform the same off road.
Great question and most would say the grand Cherokee. The reason for that is they don’t know enough about the Porsche platform. As a capable tourer the Cayenne has it all and with the addition of a winch will get you anywhere you want to go. The downside is there is not the full after market parts supply you get with Jeep so most parts you have to either modify or make from scratch. That said there is a growing trend for early Cayenne off roading so parts are becoming more readily available. There are even examples running 37” tyres and twin lockers so it’s all doable if you desire. Good luck with your choice
They tend to understeer in the wet if push hard but otherwise handle well for an off road tyre. Definitely can not push as hard as a quality road tyre though.
@@borataser1854 yes low range and central diff lock. However the central diff lock only lock the the drive from the transfer case to being a 50/50 split front to back. It does not lock the front or rear differentials at all. Front and rear locking differentials where available factory option. However as most people purchasing them new never intended to go off road they were hardly ever opted making used Cayennes with diff locks extremely rare.
Brilliant stuff. Very few put their Cayennes in the dirt.
More and more people are starting to off road them as they become cheaper. It’s surprising how the trend is growing once you start to look.
This is actually a capable car . 45:1 crawl ratio , mad as hell.
It continued to surprise me every time I took it out. They really did design it with true off road capabilities in mind.
You’re good at off road driving. I love your car!
Best SUV out there.

V10 Touareg twin locked would be a lot of fun. I just love the Porsche badge 😂
Very good off-road driver. The car is good but so is the driver.
I just got an 04 turbo, putting a lift on it, can't wait.
Let us know how the lift goes. This one is just factory air ride.

Looks amazing. Where was this shot?
Powerlines track in Lithgow area NSW near Zigzag railway
Love this and it sounds so good. Have you had any problems with it?
Nothing other than general maintenance. They are very solidly built.
@@hsvh3hummer942 thanks, good to hear
I had my prop shaft go...£800 to replace but I have done over 120000 miles and used vv hard. Broke shaft doing a jump😁
7:43 I don't know for the rest of the world but in Europe I'm pretty sure the mk1 Cayenne has center diff lock as standard...
Great Video!! What Year Model is your Cayenne Turbo?
2003 I have since moved it on but ended up getting a 2007 Cayenne S to replace it. No mods done to the 07 yet

Brother that's sick.....I have 08 957 gts ....
They are definitely fun machines
People slate them too much....
Great driving mate ...what tyres are they (?)
Thanks mate. They are BFG KO2’s 265/65R18
Shall I go for a turbo one for offroading or the 4.8 N/A?
If you want to run 33’s or larger then none turbo is easier as you don’t have to relocate the two front intercoolers but other than that the will perform the same off road.
What size tyres have you got on there? Any rubbing?
From memory 265/60R18 and no rubbing
should i get this or a 2003 jeep grand Cherokee 3.0 crd overland with raiseed suspension (i would raise the Suspension on the porsche)?

@@hsvh3hummer942 thank you i think ima buy a porsche with 37 inch tyers and add diff lock
Jeep engines really are awful. Cayenne will keep going and get a good petrol engine just watch the prop shaft it will need replacing at some stage.
Do the BFG KO2 ride all right under normal conditions or did you have to lift it?
They tend to understeer in the wet if push hard but otherwise handle well for an off road tyre. Definitely can not push as hard as a quality road tyre though.
What was the "chase rig" that you pulled away from on the beach?
LC200 land cruiser chipped with 3” straight through system. Nice bit of gear
What year is the cayenne
2003
Is there any overheating problem?
Not once I changed the plastic pipes under the inlet to aluminium upgrades
Have you got the locking diff and of road pack?
No diff locks or off road pack.
To be honest they don’t need it.

And the only way any jeep can do any of this is with Ford axles, Chevy engine, and tons of aftermarket parts…
Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about….
not a single fuck was given in this video, i like it.
