Hey Claire, I was wondering if you could make a video on how you actually care for a plant in pon? Like, do you use a hydroponic fertiliser or do you still use gold leaf? How far would you suggest taking up the water when watering? How does Pon affect plant growth outside of the speed (can they take more/less light? Is the foliage more green? ect ect)?
I've been transitioning my collection to pon over the past few months and I first started with 3 plants, recently did 4 more. (I have around 50 plants) From the research I did on youtube (kevin hakuna la plant, plant and style with peachy, random video's on pon) they suggested putting them in pon and watering through like normal without a reservoir for the first few weeks/months. I did it the first couple of waterings but now I have them in a little reservoir (like max 2cm for smaller plants and about 4 for larger ones). I use lechuza pon and rinse it through thoroughly before planting and with every watering. Will start fertilizing once the lechuza one is done in a few montgs My current plants on pon are: -anthurium chrystallinum and regale -Alocasia cuprea(loved it instantly), black velvet (rotted a bit), stingray -Philodendron sp Colombia cutting (rooted in pon and now growing it's first leaf), motherplant is still in soil -money tree -coffee plant I started pon in preparation for a 3 week holiday at the end of summer and don't want anyone coming over for my plants. I'm also an underwaterer so it really helps me with more thirsty plants like Alocasia. I'm gonna put the rest in pon over the next couple of weeks. I have a lot of Philodendron, some Dischidia, hoya, scindapsus, epipremnum, maranta, Stromanthe and a big Strelitzia. I also have some other plants that won't go into pon since they are easy enough in soil like Sansevieria and Zz. Some hanging pots will also stay in soil because I don't want them to get too heavy
@@loes6839 Have you noticed any differences with their environment reactions? I only ask because I have a really bright bedroom (like direct light all across the room) and some of my plants can't be placed in there without either intense stress of bleaching.
I LOOOOOOVE your Variegated Frydek!!! 😍😍😍😍😍 The Frydek has always been my favorite plant, but then when I saw your variegated version, I was done for. It's just the most beautiful plant I've ever seen!!!!!
Loving the philodendron and the alocasias, especially the Frydek.😍💚She is so beautyful and a wishlistplant of mine, but she's too expensive for me, because im only 14.🥲 Greetings from Switzerland🌿✨
Dearest Claire♥ Your Hoys Sarawak is actually twisted around the cane in a clockwise manner and not anti-clockwise. I don't think you realized when you did it in the video not too log ago, becuase you said "anti-clockwise" and then continued to do it clockwise.😁Try and stand it on the ground and look down at the tendril from the top, and you will see that it turns clockwise.😊 A minor detail, but quite funny. I am sure it will bring amazing growth for you anyway. Love from Denmark
The P. Incana is a real joy and I've found it easy to propagate. Another Peperomia you might like it the P. polybotrya. You make me want to get that Dinner Plate Hoya.
Hi Claire, i really wanna try Pon for my alocasias having heard your reviews. In this video and past ones you mentioned that your first time around using it you didnt get on well w it, mind sharing what you did differently this time?
They are all stunning, but gosh that varigated Frydek just BLOWS my mind 🤯 I can't wait to see future updates on her as she grows! Thank you Claire for another great video. Always love seeing a new upload of yours ⭐
I'm with you on the Ernestii I recently bought a cutting and rooted it in water and then moved to leca, and it just gave me the first new leaf, Im obsessed!
Hi Claire, I grow so many of my plants and a few orchids in Pon!! I love it and they love it. All of my hoya are in Pon and the difference between them growing in potting mixes verse Pon has been amazing. I don't intend on going back to organic mixes unless of course, I see bad things happening. Love your current top ten.
Hi Claire. I love your show. I'm now a plant enthusiast after watching your channel. Keep doing what you're doing. I enjoy it so so much. I'm from New york btw.. I do have a question on the pepperomia obtusifolia. I have a few stems growing , but how do you make it grow all over around the stem like yours? Mine just grows straight up but nothing is coming out on the rest of the little nods around it. Yours look so beautiful. Please help.❤ Clara.
It’s funny you said the Alocasia Frydek is your favourite plant currently, because that’s my new #1 wish list plant! It was the Monstera Albo and Thai Constellation, and I‘ve gotten 2 of each in the last month 😅😅❤❤❤
Hi, ideally when transitioning into pon you want to top water for the first 5-6 waterings to encourage the roots to grow down ready to start taking the water from the reservoir after the transitioning phase. It's best to use a clear pot or self-watering pot system that has a clear inner pot to monitor the moisture levels of the pon to know when to water again. Start adding the reservoir after this stage and introducing the nutrients making sure to flush the pon thoroughly on roughly a bi-monthly basis with room temperature clean water such as tap or distilled water. NOTE: If you use the brand Lechuza Pon there is no need to add fertiliser for the first 6 months as this contains slow release fertiliser. I found that when first trying pon, if I used a reservoir straight away I had more issues with root rot, as the roots hadn't adapted to water-uptake roots. I hope this helps you, as I wish somebody had given me this information before converting to pon. I lost a lot of plants through trial and error to begin with.
Claire, I have a decent sized peperomia obtusifolia with quite high variegation I’m bringing to the Scotland swap, I could pass it on to Emma if it’s something you might like?
keep in mind that the plants that we buy commercially are not usually pure species. They are aff most of the time 🙂I actually have a Rubrijuvenile directly from El Choco in Colombia and it’s absolutely glorious. On mine, the red does fade as it matures as it’s supposed to on this species.
Hi Claire, thank you for all the awesome tips! I really enjoy watching your videos and learned so much. I've wanted to ask you what kind of soil you would chose for a baby thai Constellation. I've been given one very kindly to my birthday and now I'm scared to mess it up. The current soil is not good quality... I hope my grammar is not too bad, English is not my first language 😂
Yeah I lost a dragons tooth from it. One instantly got root rot from it it’s brother in the same pot is loosing leaves so as of now I’m thinking for me soil is best. None of mine seem to really care for it
Hi, is pon basically stones and water? Does it provide nutrients to the plants? I'm wondering how different it is to growing your plant progations in perlite with a bit of water at the bottom. Thanks!

That would be great, you keep mentioning pon but yes I'd like to see a video all about it too ☺️
@@pjuk It's because I've been thinking about moving my collection over, but can't actually find a realistic care video for it.
Hakuna la planta aka Kevin has many pon and leca videos. So does Plants_n_tingz

Obsessed with your Frydek! It's such a stunner
I'm so pleased you're having such a great time with pon! I swear by it for anthurium, alocasia, monstera, pothos and hoyas 😊
I LOVE the frydeks! Hello from Minnesota! ❤
I'm in minnesota too!😊
Loving the philodendron and the alocasias, especially the Frydek.😍💚She is so beautyful and a wishlistplant of mine, but she's too expensive for me, because im only 14.🥲

I love your channel
Yay I’m so glad you got a peperomia incana! I’m so Obsessed with mine, the touch is seriously AMAZING it is so so soft
Have you done a video on how you do your plants in Pon? And what plants are good in Pon?
You inspired me to get a Hoya Sarawak! It is in the mail as we speak! Hoping for as beautiful of a specimen as you have one day!
Hi Claire, I grow so many of my plants and a few orchids in Pon!! I love it and they love it. Hows your success with orchids? All my plants are in pon. Basically 99.9% of them except my orchids. How did you transition them?!?!
Hi Claire. I love your show. I'm now a plant enthusiast after watching your channel. Keep doing what you're doing. I enjoy it so so much. I'm from New york btw.. I had a feeling you would tie the Sarawak 😂 I would have done the same! ❤
It’s funny you said the Alocasia Frydek is your favourite plant currently, because that’s my new #1 wish list plant!
It was the Monstera Albo and Thai Constellation, and I‘ve gotten 2 of each in the last month 😅😅❤❤❤
Philodendron ernestii is beautiful. I've thought about one. I dont have high humidity
When you transition into Pon, do you top water at all , or just move straight into using the reservoir ?

Every plant I own is in semi hydro and they all love it.

Claire, do you have any tips for an alo sumo?!

I've just transitioned a few alocasias into pon and they're struggling right now which is making me sad. Cheers me up to see some happy ones!
Mine are all potted in pon and doing fantastic, hope yours adjust soon!!
Yeah I lost a dragons tooth from it. One instantly got root rot from it it’s brother in the same pot is loosing leaves so as of now I’m thinking for me soil is best. None of mine seem to really care for it
Is the BOP a white or an orange one? I’d really love one (if I can fit it in!) but not sure which is best to go for?
What type of plastic do you use to make your moss poles?
Please explain what is Pone soil replacement , thank you?
Hi, is pon basically stones and water? Does it provide nutrients to the plants? I'm wondering how different it is to growing your plant progations in perlite with a bit of water at the bottom. Thanks!
Is your A. Cuprea in pon? I’m thinking of trying pon to size mine up.
My portadora is still in soil but its so thirsty right now 😅
Can you grow zigzag cactus in pon? Other epiphytes?
I have some growing in Leca, which is also semi hydro, just clay balls instead of granules. They are growing well
I want a frydek but am afraid of spidermite haha
Hi Claire! How is your Peperomia sarcophylla? It was one of the most unusual plants I’ve ever seen and have been on the lookout for one🪴✨🌿
