Joker 2 Can Save Cinema - Here's How

The upcoming Joker: Folie a Deux will be a musical co-starring Lady Gaga, and that’s basically the best news I could have heard about it. Not because that’s what I was clamoring for all along, but because it’s a fresh concept that could push back against superhero fatigue and once again prove the value of mid-budget, original filmmaking. Those kinds of films have been through hard times recently, which has been explained well in videos like REKRAP’s “Knives Out Ruined Cinema - Here’s Why,” as the industry has become polarized between small indie films and massive blockbusters. I sympathize with this concern, but I think there might be room for more styles than we think even within massive franchise IPs.
